Note: per Till Hezel, the Janz revolver chambered in .500 S&W Magnum starts at $ 15,000.00, not $30,000. Apologies for the confusion. Link to Part 1: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n2MpQJU9p-E.html

First off... Any vid on revolvers and 'best' that includes anything by Taurus is suspect. Then... Anyone who buys a Ruger and shoots both cast and jacketed slugs should check it out really well.. not sure if it is worn out tooling or just 'built on a friday' that creeps in but often the machining ... especially the chambers... can be....'iffy' I have had several Rugers that were perfect with chambers of uniform dimensions and a thou or two bigger than bore size.. in other words... perfect. Old Dan Wesson revolvers used to go pretty cheaply but those days are almost gone... In all ways the old DW would beat any gun on here for strength and accuracy and fit and finish. The model 19 Smith... another one that sold pretty cheaply on the used market... I have on in the more rare 'target' version and it lives up to 'target' I also have a nice 1969 Python and an 80's Trooper.. Hard to beat either one and the Trooper is still reasonable. The MR 73.. Don't own one but have shot a couple.. For me? something is just not right with em... My Uberti 357 Colt SAA clone outshot one of em... They kinda feel like a cross between a Colt and a DW.. but not in a good way... you may find them perfect for you tho... or maybe custom grips... if they actually made grips for em.

is that the old MR73, or the new ones under Beretta?

My price range is down there with the S&W 686 and that suits me. I have a 686 and a 627PC and though I like both of them equally, if forced, I would keep the 627PC over the 686. It is a little more accurate for me, faster shooting, and the mechanics are more appealing to me. But the 686 is barely a nose behind.

@@tomharper8351 some say Manurhin revolvers are slightly better because they're made to be more durable (because they were made for GIGN anti-terrorist units -- unlike Korth revolvers that were made for sporting use). Curious to know why you think they're on the same tier.

@@lancealmekian353 I think they’re both incredible & top tier. I love the history behind the Manurhin & of course the reliability. I’m not saying the Korth isn’t as reliable cause I don’t know. Check out tfbtv & James Reeves review & short history on RU-vid. I just wish I’d bought the 5.25” Sport model 5 years ago when it was available for $3300.

Never shot a Rhino.. want to. I got no problem with the looks. I do have a problem with glow plug inserts in revolver sights... Useless except in some indoor range maybe? When I see such sights on a revolver? I suspect that the maker of the gun is not confident in its accuracy. Sorta like a red dot thingie... Basically? red dot? not as fast as hip or point shooting and not as accurate as normal iron sights but... 'very 'hip' and tacticool and I suspect will be a joke 10 years from now.
@ResidentGunNut
@ResidentGunNut Год назад
Thanks for commenting. Fiber optic sights have been around for a while and they'll probably stay for much longer. The new trend though is MRDs. Current striker fired polymer framed pistols all come optics ready out of the factory. I suspect revolvers are headed that way too.
@doranmaxwell1755
@doranmaxwell1755 Год назад
@@ResidentGunNut Couple of things. One.. I don't care what plastic striker fired guns do cause I have no interest in them. Two.. I think those glow tube sights got popular to an extent due to indoor ranges. Outdoors they are VERY imprecise.. You simply can not beat a good set of irons with a patridge style front blade. Everyone I know has tried the red dots etc... Has given up on em.. Two things the tactifools (as in a fool and his money) love to go on and on about.... is.... shaving a zillionth of a second off your shootout with android aliens.... and... that almost all gunfights happen at less than 7 yards.... Ok..... I don't believe either is correct enough to care about but.... using their logic... I can hip shoot at least twice as fast as they can bring a gun up to eye level and use ANY kind of sight... and at 7 yards? I will maybe miss something like a clay Pidgeon once in a while but I will come close... a person? are you kidding? You could hit em by throwing the gun at em. So pretty much they are saying two things completely at odds with each other. for just a hair more time I can point shoot.... basically bring the gun up to shoulder level. Hip and point shooting work for any gun not a glock or a luger or some Olympic target pistol... Normal guns have normal grip angles.... Think.... 1911 and 1851 Colt navy or Smiths. Back on topic tho... if you don't need sights at all for short range... but do need them for precise shots indoors or out at 25-300 yards.... the glow plug or red dot makes no sense. Say you can aquire em quickly as they state.... who cares? Some old fudd hip shooting is gonna put two into you before you your gun up to eye level. And if you are in a mall say and the bad guy is 50 yards away.....(like that could happen right?) You need good sights that are precise not some gimmick.. You also need to practice at mid and long range which I guarantee you will not do with the sights the sham wow guy sold you. Not everything new is an improvement. Here is a quick list of things I have been told over the years that were gospel but now debunked.... "you are doing it wrong.. you only use one hand to shoot' 'The Weaver stance should not be modified" 'You are holding the gun wrong" "here is a test target that tells you everything you need to know about what you are doing wrong' (when all that matters is that the sights are on the target when the gun fires) 'A 25 auto is useless because even a heavy leather jacket will stop it' And most recently and amusing to me.... 'who cares if you can fire a revolver from a coat pocket? Of what possible use is that?'

Any mr73 made after mulhouse are not real mr73. Also sure i like to look at my janz and korth combat but in terms of shooting, mr73 is king. The trigger pull is second to none. With korth and yanz or python, you cant really abuse them like mr73

don't they use ruger's investment casting tech for manurhin revolvers? heard from a supposed gun expert that manurhin revolvers have to be built as tanky as Rugers because they don't forge the frames steel

@@lancealmekian353 I think ruger sp101/security6 and manurhin mr88 colap is after the the mr73. Also mr88 is trash. Or any ruger for that matter. I just bought a 3” very used MR73 for $1900. My first wheel gun. Could you explain what “after Mulhouse” means?
@heinrichfuhrmeister1244
@heinrichfuhrmeister1244 Год назад
@@tomharper8351 mr73 was first produced in manurhin’s mulhouse factory. Later they switched to another factory called st. Etienne. This happened in late 80s/early 90s (not too sure) right before they were purchased by chapuis. Chapuis made some cost saving changes resulting in decreased quality. I guess there a brief period of time where manurhin was still owned by matra but the factory changed to st. Etienne. But 1-2 years at best. The easiest way to tell is see if your mr73 has a “HA” prefix serial number. That change was made after chapuis purchase and extended into beretta era. Another way you can tell is the pin holding the front sight. If yours is an ugly roll pin, it’s after chapuis. If it’s a solid pin, mulhouse(or st. Etienne but under matra). Hope this helps
