When it comes to working your legs, having access to equipment or a gym can be helpful. Legs are a larger muscle group and require more resistance and load to build them and make them stronger. Sometimes the luxury of all the gym equipment is not available for you. That shouldn’t stop you from still working your legs. That is why I am going to give you a great at home leg workout for men over 40. Just some dumbbells and bodyweight, and you are going to have a great workout for your legs.
If you don’t have access to heavy weights and gym equipment, sometimes you need to get creative with your workouts. Whether it is adding more reps to each set, or doing super slow reps to have more time under tension. Even limiting the amount of rest between sets. There are so many ways to ramp up the intensity in your workouts, so you can still get great results working out from home.
Here are the exercises in this at home leg workout for men over 40:
Exercise #1: GOBLET SQUATS
Exercise #2: ALTERNATING REVERSE LUNGES
Exercise #3: ROMANIAN DEADLIFT
Exercise #4: PULSATING BODYWEIGHT SQUATS
Give these exercises a try the next time you are working out from home on your leg day!

I'm 70, and I love this routine. Afterward, I hit the road for a 3-4 mile brisk walk. Thanks for your passion for helping us make progress in our quality of life.

I am 70 and have been doing 100 squats but have not felt this was enough. This fills out my lower body exercise. Thanks.

Started these leg exercises today and did two rounds. I would classify myself as upper beginner to lower intermediate on all body exercises except my legs, where I'm definitely a beginner (Stupidly, I've been neglecting leg exercises until now). Years ago, the legs were my strength and served me well on the Lacrosse field. I've been losing weight (25 lbs) and rounding myself back into reasonable shape. I'll be 72 in September.

I love your channel fellas. I’m nearly 60 , fit as a fiddle (or so I thought) I’ve just had a pretty nasty heart attack after a heavy chest workout. I’ve had a stent fitted and hope I can return to the gym in the near future.

over 50 bro, using the information anyway. I already do squats, 30 reps x4 to x5 sets a day (usually 4) as part of a weight training and core workout regimen. Need more exercises for my legs, I don't like to use heavy weights to do my legs. I prefer calisthenics because it's safer, gives me more endurance too and like you said, (I suspect it's because squats are an integral exercise inclusive in High Intensity Interval Training) it is most definitely good for the heart. I'll tell you this, since I started doing squats ( I do them every damn day), I have greater mobility. I can move better without stiffness or pain and it feels good to have that confidence of movement back. Of course a decent healthy anti-inflammatory diet is also an essential component in that continual process. Getting old is brutal and a man must fight it with everything he can use. I thank you for your videos.

I have a barbell at home, so I do light squats, many reps and sets, in good form, so good for the cardio as well. And after that I do several sets of calf raises with the same barbell, not so heavy but many reps and in good form. That's all I do for the lower body.

Very interesting article. I am following your YT channel with very much interest. I have got a question related to heartbeat. I am 67 years old guy and since the beginning of this year, after my retirement, I have started intensive exercise and fitness / strength training again. Until I was 45, I trained very intensively in the gym 3-4 times a week, each time 3 hours after work. On the other days I trained at home with loose dumbbells. After that time I gradually trained less and less. Why? I really don't know. But from the beginning this year I started again with exercising (cardio) without equipment, 6 days / wk every morning 1.5 hours, Sunday rest. Now I have added intensive strength training with dumbbells, 5 days / week, 1.5 hours. 1 muscle group each day, 4-5 exercises, 3 sets 8 - 10 reps . I do core training every day, 3 exercises including plank. During one of the cardio exercises I noticed that my heart rate was almost 190 bpm, while my maximum heart rate should be 220-67=153 bpm (220 - age, approx. I found on the internet). To temper this, I rest 90 sec instead of 60 sec between each exercise. Can such a high heart rate (190 bpm) hurt? During strength training I stay around 130 bpm. Thanks from the Netherlands.
