water is not necessary at all, just need vinegar, lemon, lime juice and or sour orange and shallot (onion is optional) is sufficient. Am glad you discovered and appreciate out condiment, it can be used on anything you want it in.

So.....Haitian sauerkraut. Nice. I totally agree with Rachelle. Fermenting it would be amazing.

That’s the key the longer it sits in the fridge the better it tastes. I store mine in the fridge for months

So good. I love Pikliz. I learned to prepare it years ago too. My husband is originally from Haiti, and my MIL taught me before she passed. ❤️

If you make it again next time u should take a blender and just throw the habanero or scotch bonnet in with vinegar, sour orange juice, a chicken bouillon cube (I like to use knorr brand) and blend it together then boil it on the stove. After it cools just pour it on the slaw. I find that method to be the best!!!

Greetings from Italy. I use your channel as a reference for my fermented hot sauces, as I am new to the hobby. Great content. One suggestion, though, when splitting videos, it will be great if you link the videos by their names; it will simplify searching for the second part.

This was a great AUTHENTIC recipe! The comments trying to change the method, choosing to ferment them is not AUTHENTIC! Please respect peoples culture and do it how they do it. Stop trying to change it. TBH that's the most annoying thing about sharing cultures, people try to change it.

Great content. I'm going to try this but without the vinegar... I'm going to ferment it instead 😁

Hello Rachel, the real Haitian pikliz cannot be fermented, doing so will give it a totally other (good taste i do not doubt) but that will not be Haitian Pikliz. I am Chef SybillAF, i am Haitian and had been a cook for 12 years.

I lived many years in Haiti (Mwen pale kreyòl ayisyen parfe) - you have this DOWN! I make this all the time. For a nice tasty switch-up, try using Mirin or Sushi Vinegar, and no water (my in-laws' way). Also... Scotch Bonnet peppers are more common and have a nicer "bite" than Habanero.

Please do not use your hands anyone when chopping scothbonet peppers my sister learned the hard way. Forgot about it and touched her body and blisters all over neck to legs. Making piklize to send to USA for a family. It was a surprise
