love my EP3, bought as a track car, owned just over a year, changed tyres, upgraded to coilovers and track pads, its brilliant, done track days up and down the country in it, driven there and back in it aswell, it has been faultless once of the best handling cars ive owned....and it will happily eat clios for breakfast 😈

Sometimes it’s best to keep it simple and raw. A brilliant light engine, fantastic transmission and a brilliant chassis! Ticks all the boxers, I’ll never sell my ep3 I’ll drive it till the wheels fall off 👌🏽

Absolutely brilliant drivers cars. Had mine for over 4 years now and every time I get behind the wheel it’s an event and makes you feel like a race car driver

What a great, detailed, through and entertaining video review. If I didn't already have an EP3 I'd go out and buy one after watching this. I agree with your points too on the car and it's characteristics.

I literally just bought a prefacelift EP3 with 49k on the clock for £6.7k. After watching a ton of EP3 content these last few days, I feel like that was a steal for a fantastic car today and a really good investment for tomorrow. All I can say is I can’t wait to get behind the wheel when I pick it up next week and start living life with this fantastic hot hatch. On the video side of things, it’s nice to see a review from someone who’s a little bit older, a little bit wiser and generally not a gurning hooner who wants to drive everywhere in VTEC, but still a petrolhead at heart. You’ve definitely earned yourself a subscriber.

Amazing video mate love it! I really miss my Honda EP3 only had it a month and did so much mods on it until I bought a new car, that was 4 years ago and I still look back and still crave the EP3. Absolutely lovely car again great video mate

I had one for 3 years. Kept it stock. I did 40k miles and took it all over europe. Perfect power for road driving. The engine and gearbox is just sublime. I replaced it with a GT86 last year. Very nice mods. Excellent review. Have a go in a GT86 if you get the chance. Same power, less torque but the power delivery just isn’t honda. Thanks for making great videos

Really enjoyed this review! I fell in love with the ep3 about 3 years ago when I drove one for the hell of it. I was looking for a mk2 focus ST at the time (love that t5 engine!), but the one I wanted to see had sold. Jumped into the EP3 they had for a drive and I felt like I was playing a racing game as a kid again, it was so exciting! Car wasn't in the best cosmetic shape though and was the preface, which I didn't want. I ended up looking at both STs and EP3s from that point and just found dog after dog after dog with both. Don't ask me how, but I ended up with an r56 Cooper s. Fun to drive, terrible to own (n14 peugeot engine...). Thing was though, turbo is always there, torque and power are always there. You get used to it! Taking the car for a spirited drive down a country lane didn't feel a million miles apart from regular driving, because you get used to power. That's when I decided I didn't want turbo, I wanted the split personality EP3! For daily driving around town, you get used to having a regular hatch. When it comes time to trash it on an open road, you wake it up and you're driving a completely different car! If it wasn't for the clio cam belt, I probably would have owned one of those before the civic though. For me, the civic and the clio are the last of the small, light and traditional hot hatches.

Nice review Jay. I am a huge Honda fan. I had a couple of NA2 NSX and they were so so good. I think the image comes from the fact that they make so many family hatchbacks. I drove the new NSX a few months ago and that's also good!

I know man this is your start but your editing skills are outclass.

There really isn't alot that comes anywhere near the EP3 for sheer value, the amount of performance that you get for your money is staggering. If you want to sit in a carpark or spend all of your time at shows then get a VW, if you want outright speed then theres plenty of things better than the EP3, but if you want are interesting in actually driving theres not alot that beats these.

People rip on Hondas because they're considered to be under-powered, with no torque and (mostly) front wheel drive. The 'chav' association, if you wish to level it at all, could be directed at any car with a spoiler from this time period. Do chavs even exist any more? Perhaps that's a philosophical question for another occasion. I don't think you need to apologise for liking cars like this these days. The style and performance is essentially irrelevant now, considering most modern turbo hatches are miles faster and more economical anyway. And many are more overblown in their appearance too (FK8 Type R for eg). I own a DC5 with a huge wing. I'm not a chav, nor did I attend private school, nor am I a boy racer, or suffering a mid-life crisis. Don't make assumptions about cars or their owners because of their badge, stereotype, or how they look.

2-6K pounds you guys are so lucky that's the same price as an Si here in the states. We are terrible we never get all the sport car models from around the world everyone hates us we get nothing.

I've had my EP3 since may 2018 and I can confirm most of the things he said is correct but the gearbox/synchro/crunching thing doesnt happen on all EP3 mine always slots into gear at any RPM cold or hot fast or slow. Te gearbox is one of the best things about the EP3 it's not a flaw. It's a beautifu mechanical gearbox.

Yes it's a great car overall but what about the very poor grip/under-steer/wheel spin in the wet due to the suspension/chassis set up and nothing to do with tyres ??? This is a big negative for me and yes i have owned a 2005 Type R and a 2004 1.6 Se standard car both had the same problem when wet.
