The BEST Infinite Gathering Tools in 2023 | Guild Wars 2

Happy you liked it! The most common information being a little over 5 years old made me want to investigate the tools further, so people can have more recent info.

That's a bit of a difficult one, the Glyph Selection Box is amazing to have, but each set offers something different. Choya: The mining pick can gather 5 times Skyscales: The mining pick can gather 5 times AND is impacted more heavily by quickness Glacial tools: The Logging Axe is more heavily impacted by quickness For the infinite Elemental tools there's a rumor (unconfirmed) that glyph of industry is faster on the Axe than it needs to be. But that is unconfirmed, so it's difficult to say for sure. I'd say that either the Skyscales (mining) or the Glacial tools (logging) are going to be your best bet. From that set I would personally go with Glacial, but that's because I like the animations...

The old scrapper build works ok if you use a relic of the Chronomancer. That'll give you quickness when casting wells, like it was before the rework. I am toying with near permanent quickness on ranger and thief too, but that involves a lot of weird gear. I'm not sure if that'll be an option for many people. Technically, specter can have permanent quickness too with the relic of the Chronomancer.

Thanks, and welcome to the game! An infinite gathering tool is an infinite version of the sickles (harvesting plants), logging axes (chopping wood), and mining picks (mining ore). You can buy in-game versions for gold and later on karma with the same benefits, but they have a certain amount of charges before they deplete. An infinite tool doesn't have these charges. I don't think it was ANet's intention to let us min-max these tools, but rather provide some cool visuals and introduce new animations over time. But people found out that this came with some hidden benefits. @@phandrel I think it's pretty amazing in a high-level of gathering way that you can have a skill ceiling even there. But also things get too convoluted and little in-game direction to the point I spend 4/10 on my time looking up things. Maybe it's a little funny, but I quit the game for now over this gathering video, not because of the video itself but just the amount of systems and overly confusing nature of many of them.

@@Evys I get that. There's a few challenges inherent to GW2 and MMO's in general. There's about 11 years of content, which means that learning everything in one go is a rather daunting task. GW2 also chooses to not hold the players' hands, making it even less evident for most players. The information is there (in game, wiki, etc), but you gotta know where to look.

Right now, the best value is actually the Elite Jump Start Package which includes: tools, copper-fed salvage-o-matic, character slot expansion, shared inventory slot and a Royal Terrace Pass all for less than the price of the gathering tools alone. So that value is really hard to beat. If it comes to the sets, Unbound Magic has 2 out of 3 skins that are really beneficial if you care about cast times. While the Volatile Magic ones have the glyphs that will make you the most consistent gold. There are some other sets with great skins too (Infinite Skyscale Mining Pick is fast when gathering rich veins, Glacial Logging tool when logging wood if you have quickness), etc. So it's kinda hard to give a single "right" answer, but I'd prioritize the Elite Pack if you're missing most/all of the contents. Otherwise, personally, I would shoot for the Volatile Magic ones.

I was running with gear focused on concentration (boon duration), combined with Pitcher of Desert Spiced Coffee (wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pitcher_of_Desert-Spiced_Coffee), which grants quickness when you dismount. I need to revise this build though, because with SotO there might be more efficient ways to get permanent quickness on a Daredevil.

I did buy the bundle to test them out! The logging tool and mining tools have the standard animation/timing, making them feel rather slow. The harvesting tool for plants is about double as slow as the consortium/fused molten sickle. Except underwater, where you can cancel the cast halfway through. So unless you love the animations or want the specific glyphs (one of the tools has glyph of bounty), they are not really worth it imo.

Thanks for the suggestion. My first video was my worst in audio quality. I'm still working on figuring out decent filters and settings, I'll make sure to take a look into reverb.

I am using Glyphs of Alchemy (wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Glyph_of_Alchemy). They upgrade the material you're gathering to the rank above. Upgrading mithril to orichalcum and elder wood to ancient wood is limited to 150 per day though. I bought them way back when they were 15g/glyph, but sadly they shot up on price to crazy levels.

@@phandrel I bought several of those glyphs when they were first introduced, at maybe 8g or something. In hindsight that was probably the best purchase I've ever made.

​@@ycl260779 that's insane value then. I knew they were priced rather cheap 2 years ago, but didn't expect them to go up in price to their current levels. They're one of my favorite glyphs as I tend to burn through orichalcum.

Depending on the tool you can move, or either swap/stow your weapon.

I covered most tools in a new(er) video, which should be much better quality than my very first one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GWDppNddFIc.html The tools I currently use are: Skyscale Hatchling Mining Tool: Mines 5 ores at a time and is more heavily impacted by Quickness than others Glacial Logging Tool: More impacted by quickness than others Consortium Harvesting Sickle (same speed as Fused Molten Skin): Fastest tool there is Popular ones are Unbound Mining and Logging Tools, the logging tool is the fastest no contest, the mining tool only if you cancel cast the animation. Both need to be animation cancelled to be really the fastest though. Volatile Magic Mining Tool is a contender for speed if you don't cancel cast, Frost Wasp Logging Tool is only slightly slower than the Unbound Logging Tool, but doesn't come with a glyph, making it a rather expensive purchase. Going fast is fun, completely demolishing a node cluster with your high speed gathering tools is just as good as demolishing a mob group with a cool skill combo. VROOM VROOM The ones you can cancel early also add a "skillful interaction" which can be engaging in itself rather than just waiting out cast+aftercast.

That is certainly a valid way to select them too! The Spirit of the Wild set is absolutely gorgeous.

FYI you can actually change your Harvesting Tools skins in the Wardrobe panel, this does effectively turn them into the tool of whatever appearance you choose.

@@lavenderlovee Yes, that is correct BUT I at least wanted to let you know not to trash them even if you hate them because if you do get "better" tools you can appearance swap these to be the same as those. Not a perfect fit but better than a complete and total waste of your money. ;-) I had bought the 'normal' indestructible tools early on and later got Consortium and the Spirit ones. Those sadly bad normal models ones went from taking up bank space as a waste of gems to getting a re-do and having a permanent home on one of my most played characters.

Some of those take 4 seconds to do the task, others around 5 seconds, most of them close to 6, and that doesn't even count the sftercast (which can be and extra second and can or not be canceled at all). I have 2 molten sickles, 2 firestorm axes and a cosmic pic, plus 2 reaper glyphs, 2 industrious glyphs and 1 volatile magic glyph, and I farm exclusively rich nodes or high density crops, and I can asure you that if you have a lot of characters (I have 18) and farming nodes is one of your main income sources, the differences are relevant. Being said that, IMO the most important gathering tools are a molten sickle with reaper and volatile, followed by the skyscale with industrious glyph. Logging isn't very rewarding in terms of value.

Some people get a lot of joy out of planning and executing really efficient gameplay. Let people play the game how they prefer.
