The best iPad Pro is the iPad Air! 

I bought the iPad Pro M2 12.9 inches 2022 but I returned when I saw the beautiful screen on the iPad Pro M4 13 inches 2024 at the Apple Store.The difference for me is huge!! I read a lot, so for me this upgrade was perfect.

Great review. I was thinking on The Air but thanks to this video I get a clear picture of the main difference between both devices. I sold my Pro 2018 can't wait to get the new Pro M4.

I have the iPad Air 5th edition (256G) and it's still going strong. I don't use the front facing camera so the new (and better) position doesn't affect me. So besides the new Pencil I don't really see a need to upgrade to the latest version just yet. This is still a good comparison though. Thanks for the video.

I am leaning toward the 13in iPad Air. I have an OG 9.7in iPad Pro which was gifted to me. At the time, the 1st Gen Pencil was only able to work with this iPad Pro. The screen is still good. I will keep this and will add the iPad Air. I don't have a need for all the Pro functions of the iPad Pro. I did want the bigger screen. I was going to purchase a 13in M2 iPad Pro but when you factor getting a larger memory (256 GB), you wind up roughly the same price as the new iPad Air and you get a fresh battery and the new Pencil Pro to boot.

I was not really interested in the M2 iPad Air, but recently I noticed my 64gb iPad Air Gen 5 was maxing out on storage capacity. This is really on me since I don’t know why I got a 64gb iPad in the first place, but I will be upgrading to the M2 iPad Air soon based on some of the insights you provided.

The Air is very good but I just can’t live without ProMotion and OLED.

I feel like best value right now are refurbished iPad pros or the ipads air with m1 that can be had in the U.S. for 399.

I don’t know if its just where you live but in US they offer the option to have a charging brick in the box

I like your objective reviews. I traded in my iPad Pro 11 inch for the 13 inch Air. I didn’t really use any pro features. I preferred the 13 inch but was not willing to pay the 13 inch Pro price. I get the larger display. While it’s no oled it’s still a very good display for surfing the web,email and media consumption.

Was looking forward to the new pro 13” but soon realised I would way priced out due to having to purchase the whole be iPad Pro eco system. I.e pencil and keyboard. Will stick with my 2tb M1 Pro

Are 12'' older magic keyboards compatible with iPad air 11'' M2 Chips that was just released?

I am that type of guy that needs to buy the best. I could 100% could get by with the iPad Air M2. That looks like it has everything I need. I do like how then the Pro series s, but would not be that noticeable for me between the Air and Pro. I am not an artist, but do enjoy the new Apple Pencil features. I use it to mark up pictures and PDFs. Switching between the different pencils is quicker. Thanks for the review.

The main problem here is that certain websites still don’t function properly on any iPad even the most powerful expensive iPad Pro. Websites such as government, education, university, and others, even sites from my work field. Most recently I was renewing my defensive driving course online and even that couldn’t manage when I got to a certain page and I had to finish it off on my MacBook instead. When it comes to minimal productivity and media consumption, I go with my iPad, but when it comes to actual productive work, I stick to my MacBook. PS: love your videos thank you

Great review - I think the best bang for the buck is the M2 Ipad Pro 11” right now. They are on sale in the US at least for $599. That’s stupid cheap for ProMotion and all the Pro features.

My m1 iPad Pro is working just fine. If I do upgrade, I’m torn between the Air and the oled pro. I don’t create much anymore, so there’s that. We’ll see what they do with the OS.

Excellent review, so thanks for sharing! I presently happily own a 2022 M2 12.9 iPad Pro and am thinking about changing it for the new 13in M2 Ipdad Air because of the larger screen. I am not a gamer, don't edit vids...I mainly use it when I travel to edit spreadsheets, so emails, etc...My question is, would I really see a gain in viewing area with the 13in vs the 12.9 or is it negligible ? The 12.9 Air maintains the original weight of the previous year's 12.9 Pro. That alone is a dealbreaker for me. With a Magic Keyboard, it weighs more than a 13" MB Air.

Great review! I really don’t know what to do, I like the iPad Air 13, but the sound quality is okay. I liked better the iPad Pro instead because of the sound quality is really good , I do a lots of mixing using DJ Pro for iPad. Also if I have to transfer music from a SSD to iPad the Pro can manage that compared to the Air. At the same time the Pro is a lots of cash, I might have to way few month to save the money for the Pro.

Actually, the 5th Gen M1 iPad Air is an excellent value @ 399 USD....brand new. They are still available as of June 2024 from on-line retailers, my local Best Buy and Walmart. As a non-creator type who still wants a performance unit that will last at least 4-5 years, the 5th Gen iPad Air is the way to go.

With the M2 iPad pro, when using the flash I do not have any shadows either. Don’t know why this is such a big thing on the M4 ipad pro and the M2 air… Did I miss out on something?

Yes I believe the M2 Air is likely the best option for most people. But the Neural Engine improvements in the M4 may greatly extend the usable life of the Pro.

Well, WWDC has come and gone and no surprises from iPadOS.

I haven’t bought my iPad yet. I really need the nano screen because my eyes are very sensitive to glare. I heard from another site that the glare is really lessened so much so that the colors as not as sharp. I would rather sacrifice sharpness for less pain. 😢

Another good question here would be, which is better? The previous ipad pro (M2) or the new ipad air (M2). Pricing, age, features and capabilities considered.

I think right now that it productivity is even anywhere within your use case, and you don’t have a MacBook there isn’t a possibility that any iPad will do the job for you. Not efficiently for sure. This is only a second device and for me, it’s really just a second travel monitor about 99% of the time. I know that wasn’t the point of this video, I’m ranting a bit. But you always do a great job and appreciate you man!

But you didn’t mention the basic entry level iPad for those of us who just want to access social media and email. My 10 gen iPad does me fine and has the landscape camera as well.

Originally, I purchased an M4 13 inch Pro but after having it for a week I found it hard to justify the hefty price tag. I returned it and decided to try the 13 inch Air. More than happy with it, the speakers and brightness of the screen are better than the 11 inch Air. Has enough for what I need.

The iPad Air is a really solid option. I will say, when it comes to speaking, the iPad Air sounds more clean & clear

In the begining i 'd plan to buy the base 11" pro one, after lanched to see other review i thougt that the best budget is iPad Air. I'al had macbook air m1. It's anoying to work the task macbook can do, but now it's fine with script and shortcut on iPad. i've focus on simple task in iPad Air. some task's suited for Macbook, some task's for iPad. use it wisely. The only one big differnce between Air and Pro is screen panel. If you have enough budget to buy Pro, go for it. i didn't want to make iPad like Macbook Air, so no need to buy magic keyboard which's not fit on your laps. 256 GB and 13" 's fine for 4 - 5 years use. Stage manager's game changer for 13", i hope that more application can resize the window and swap use perfectly. I've wait to see the new OS features in this WWDC.

I’m stuck between these new iPads. The iPad Pro has everything I need, but not the OLED display. The iPad Air has the display, but not everything else. I think I will keep my 2nd Gen iPad Pro a little longer.

I think the new iPad Air m2 screen size is still 10.86 inches. Apple are false marketing the screen as being 11 inches.

Not considering the 13' version, I would even say the best iPad Pro for most people is the normal iPad 10th gen. Media consumption, browsing, doing your mails, and every day productivity can be handled with ease by the normal iPad. I speak of experience. I might consider the Air, just because I would like to have a bigger iPad. Not because I really need it, just because it's a quality of life improvement.

The most overused and incorrect statement that keeps being made is that iPadOS prevents full use of the M4 processor (substitute any M-series you want). That statement is utter nonsense. The M4’s power is used by very few apps, whether it’s on a Mac or on an iPad. You can easily make the statement that almost nothing uses the full power of the M3 Max on a Mac. You can probably list all the apps that do on your fingers and toes. Everything else could be run on a five year old A-series processor or Intel processor. That’s the nature of apps. Most will not use a fraction of a CPU’s power. That’s true of iPads and Macs and every other modern computer out there. The M1 added virtual memory and hardware encoders/decoders. The M2 added ProRes. The M3 added AV1 decoders and a brand new ray tracing graphics engine. The M4 added a brand new neural engine and a display controller that can handle the tandem OLED display. Is there anything at all in iPadOS that limits apps from using those features? The answer is a resounding no. IPadOS puts no restrictions on using the full power of those chips. The developers just need to do so. As a developer, I get sick and tired of people saying iPadOS restricts the use of the full power of these chips because it’s completely false. Now the M4 is not fully in use because it’s only a few weeks old, but you can guarantee the AI-craze will use that power very soon. There are plenty of apps that do take full advantage, but the fallacy is that because it’s not the app you want, then clearly it’s iPadOS’s fault the developer can’t keep up. You can say that there are iPadOS limitations that make your Mac workflow more difficult, but that has nothing to do with the power of [place random M-series chip here]. It has to do with iPads having different ways to do things.
