Well, I am watching from Munich, Germany.. I am Irish myself (naturalized but originally from Sub-continent) and found your channel while searching for traditional Irish music on YT... I miss Ireland a lot its been a while in Germany now but not a single weekend that I missed Ireland and watched towns, rivers of my beloved Ireland on YT.... Living in Ireland for more than 10 years made me always think that my blood is green :)..... thanks for the share..... keep up the good work... Many years ago, when I was stationed outside of Washington DC, I attended a conference at a hotel near downtown Washington. I chanced across the street to an Irish Pub to check out the lunch offering. Guinness and corned beef sandwiches! Live music also! I often wondered it this might have the pub in the the movie "Patriot Games". I still enjoy my Guinness, though it isn't a nice as a pint from the tap!

You'd get away with Am (but A5 really) alternating as appropriate with G (but G6 or Em7 according to taste).

Everyone learns the same tunes, so if you know the tune you play along. Ear music is amazing, many musicians know 1000's of tunes with no need for sheet music or reminders.

True . My session in my city .. we all learn the same tunes and sets .. we make sure we communicate what new ones we learn , we play and share , we record the sessions on our phone and we can learn them on home the ones we don’t know and play them the next week . I started leaning Irish music in 2015 and what started with one tune by memory “ the butterfly “ has grown into hundreds of tunes and sets memorized , I love the freedom - no sheetmusic . If you work hard to Learn the tunes it pays off !

Also the tunes are very formulaic and similar to one another, which makes it easier to memorise and/or play along.

Hi Scottish-Irish Folk, The first tune is a Sean Ryan composition called "The Nightingale". The second tune is also commonly known as the "Three Little Drummers".
