I was 92A logistics supply. All im going to say is there are a lot of job opportunities if you play your card right when get out of the army. got out in 2011 and started contracting in afghanistan in 2011 as a supply making $180k a year $95k was tax free. paid off my house in 2 years.
I’m thinking about joining Air Force as ground transport. Similar jobs correct? Already have my CDL and logistics experience so I should fit right in, hopefully.
I'm a 46S - Public Affairs, which in my opinion is the best MOS. Best thing is I get to experience nearly every MOS because my job is to document what they are doing either through photography, videography, writing, or graphics. I get to experience firsthand everything from riding tanks to helicopters without having to deal with typical army protocols that they have to do, formations for example. In my first five months post-basic training, I've traveled extensively, from riding in Black Hawks to documenting Best Warrior competitions and exploring different regions within my state. It's been a fun experience, and I won't ever change my MOS.
How was the asvab for you?? I want to do this MOS as well either public affairs officers or mass communication specialist, I love creating social media content and my major in college is journalism and media production buh I’m switching over to the enlightenment side and see if I could take any of my college credits with me. I’m worried tht my asvab score won’t hit the bar it needs to buh I pray it does and I get set on the right track if tht makes sense.
Do some research before you join. Try the AF first. Unless you’re dumb, then Army is fine. If you’re smart but can’t make it into AF the Navy has some good opportunities but you actually go on deployment
I scored high in math and science on the ASVAB Test so they made me an C-130 Aircraft Mechanic in the Air Force. I served in Desert Shield/Storm and Bosnia/Cosovo Wars. I got my degree and A&P License before I retired and worked on civil aircraft. Now I'm retired.
You sir, have a great mindset and very positive spirit I’m enjoying the content as I study and prepared to enlist. It’s a study guide. Thank you for your RU-vid service. 🙂
I had the 97 when i applied for the AF. Said no because of my ADHD, so after a year i joined the Navy as an Electronics Technician. Good rate with great opportunities outside of the Navy. 2 years in so far, deployments suck though. Don’t go navy if you have a family
I want a hard job a job that will mold me people that sign up need to understand that military isn’t meant to be easy or chill mode it’s a serious duty that needs to be respected great video bro
When you’re good people talk about you. I’m happy I came across Mr Thomas, I was a single mother struggling with Asvab exams now I can testify how good and reliable his services are .
Without Mr Thomas I would still be in abject poverty struggling with my life, that’s the greatest testimony gotten so far after years of great loss here on RU-vid, I do thank him and I am grateful.
Honestly in my opinion choose a job you can learn a skill so you can make good money when you transition to a civilian. Also for staff duty/ cq playing monopoly helps a lot
@@alfredopasta3784from my knowledge and don’t take my word for it, i think most do. I’m looking to see if i can go into the Navy once i graduate as a ET or ETV which will teach me all the skills i need and that would allow me to get a good job when i go back to civilian status
@@alfredopasta3784Most non combat arms MOS's. Anything in Cyber or anything that gives marketable skills that transition well to the civilian sector. Don't forget that the Army will also PAY YOU to go to college through TA and FASFA. Absolutely take advantage of that.
2:10 keep in mind also that you have to reenlist in order to do this, and nowadays the window for reenlistment is 12 months away from your ets. TIP: do not sign a long as contract for the bonus money. If that mos sucks you are stuck in it for that much longer and have to wait that much longer for your reenlistment window. If you sign a six year contract then you have to wait five years. If you sign a five year contract then you have to wait for four years. So sign the shortest contract (three years). Also, even then, i might be wrong, your mos has to be either "over strength" (the army considers your mos at the moment to have more than enough people) or "balanced" (just enough people) in order for you to reclass. If your mos is "under strength" (not enough people) then you probably wont be allowd to reenlist and reclass.
I just enlisted as 46v not too long ago and ship out on the 30th, love multimedia-type shit; I've been doing some video editing/videography as a hobby with some commision stuff here and there since late highschool and early college. If the MOS is anything like its described, its pretty much my dream job; Super exited to learn a plethora of stuff in my 8 months of AIT following basic.
Brother. I'm worried for you. 46V has the worst training environment available for the 46 Series as an MOS-I. APAC Stu Co. is probably the worst fucking TRADOC command to exist. All the 46V had worse/more mental illnesses than their 46S and 46T counterparts. Learn to shitbag responsibly, I did that and I got to be mostly sane. I promise you, whatever bullshit they try teaching you back at the detachment (Your AIT will take place at Defense information school, but you will live at APAC Stu. Co.) is all fake. None of it is real or useful besides the Level 1 training exercises. Once you're out of the worst 8-16 months of your life (That wild range exists because Fort Meade and APAC has the worst paper pushes known in the Army and will fuck up your paper work before u even stepped foot in the recruiter's office) you'll have a similar lifestyle like 46S but with a focus on combat arms operations. You'll still get to go to your fancy hotel to edit videos tho. And you'll ride in choppers, speak to generals, commandants, foreign military personnel, pretty cool stuff. The Job IS WORTH IT but going in as an MOS-I is absolutely the fucking worst. Good luck buddy
Taking my ASVAB on Monday. Lowkey nervous but looking at these 😮💨 I want 68P so I need my ST to be higher Update: I passed the ASVAB and booked 68P !!!
good luck and I hope you are able to get it. I tried to reclass to 68P and it didn't work out for me because I couldn't make it through phase 2 since the phase two site I went to is said to be the most difficult, but I hope you can get it. Be aware that its not a common MOS like infantry and cook and other shitty jobs are, so that means you might have to wait some months for new slots to be open. Try to be patient.
@@golfery5119 Thank you for the good luck wishes. They ended up paying off. I scored a 125 ST and there was one slot open for 68P. I ship January to fort sill. What phase 2 site did you choose? Was it Fort Lewis? I heard they were notorious
@@sune6708 Yo, congratulations!!! Yessir. HOW did you hear about Fort Lewis already before even joining??? I haven't even seen anything about them online. But to answer your question, First ......"What phase 2 site did you choose? " I didn't choose and nobody in my class did. I think I heard that it USED to be where you could choose what phase 2 site to go to. If that was true, then it was no longer in effect when I went through phase 1 from August 2022 through February 2023. I don't know when they stopped letting people choose. I wish they did let people still choose after hearing how the phase 2 sites are....... Which brings me to the next part of what you asked........
@tommynelson6982 waiting on my last waiver to go through, hopefully next week but they told me if its not within the next 2 weeks it won't be till after the new year bc they pause basics for a Christmas break and don't like shipping people out for only a few weeks.
@@ElohElAha what branch exactly, I’m really considering navy but a little nervous man. Talked to the recruiter and bout to talk chief tmr but haven’t decided anything yet. I have a excavating business with my brother and grandpa and we make good money but I just wanna do something different ig but don’t know if that’s the different I want.
ima cop my academy was awful no one had anyones back. went to my brothers ceremony for graduating basic. complete different world. his unit came up to my family and shook our hands thanking us for him. i am now going to join the reserves
Thank you so much for talking about 46S. That’s what I’m currently interested in for when I *hopefully* join the army. You made me wanna do it even more
@@himehime1629 I had that option and I’m glad I didn’t take it as I’m a big fan of what I do as a GEOINT. I do have friends who are 35L tho and they’re fans of their MOS. I’m not sure if “better” is the right term but I guess it’s a good present of the kind of person I’m talking to.
Love your attitude big man, your so positive and your not just complaining about everything like “I can’t wait to get out this sucks” no man you see the good in things instead of focusing on the bad stuff and your appreciated of what the army has given you.
I’m a 13f in the army, it’s pretty much as high speed as you can get without going to schools.. you will be in the field twice as much as the infantry though because you will go with them and also the artillery dudes.. and mortars.. and sometimes cas platforms just keep that in mind. Also you are required to meet infantry standards while also being an expert at your job.. it’s a hard life but you’ll always be in small teams and you become your own boss really quick.
5:24 has me crying bro 😭😂😂 you are hilarious thank you for the video so freaking amazing to get a break down. Took my practice ASVAB yesterday scored 42. Hope to do better on the real thing today!
I'm about to leave to Navy bootcamp in a couple days (I ship out the 26th) and I got SECF (Submarine Electronics/Computer Field). I've heard it's a cool ass job so I'm hype. Got any tips for basic while I'm there?
Hey, I'm not him but I have recently passed (less than 2 years ago) Infantry Army OSUT. Biggest tips I can give you, whilst the limited time frame you have is: 1. The drills, or for you RDCs, are not your friends; but also they're (hopefully) not toxic and if you ever have a personal issue that you think is too hard to go alone you can always go to them. 2. Keep your head "down", and your ears constantly open. 3. When I went I expected everyone to be as motivated as I was, but most were not, so for you don't ever expect that either. Once I got to my training company it was much different, but in reception everyone was a shit bag. 4. Try to enjoy the little things, think positive, you might not like the pushups but you're getting a lot stronger that way anyway. I can only give so much advice, enjoy your time and at the end of the day you'll figure it out either way, good luck and have fun brother
Don't stand out or more will be expected of you or most likely targeted by Drill Instructors and dont be the guy that holds the team back, be in the middle and just do your part and BCT will go by smoothly
Don’t stand out in osut when you get to your unit in July or August you’re knew so everybody is trying to get a feel for you, assume everybody outranks you because they probably do and remember your customs and curtesies
30th ag is gonna make you rethink your decision. You will get sick, sleep on a nasty bed, deal with idiots non stop, miss the life you just left, deal with NCO f-ups, and after your shots and processing you will brain rot until the bus comes to pick you up for basic. Pure facts, I’m not lying lol
My dream is to join the US Army and serve as an active soldier, the biggest challenge is that I'm a Kenyan citizen, never had an opportunity to travel to the US and am not the Citizen either, I'm 28 yrs old turning 29 on Jan 8th 2023, I belive my dream will come true one day, thanks for the good advice, “This We’ll Defend”
If you ain’t do shit for 4 years out of your whole life so far why is it such a hard decision to make honestly you gotta want and do more to get more i see no cons in going into the military because ain’t no cons in leveling yourself up in my eyes so everything is a W to me
im going in as a 46S during the summer probably sometime mid june right after basic to start my training im glad it was featured in this vid im ready to serve and get some fire vids and photos

pick something that will set you up for a high paying job on the outside, preferably with a TS clearance especially IT work. It's also better to study up on the ASVAB and retake it to get the job you really want rather than just taking whatever they offer you and trying to reclass later. That's what I ended up doing to get 35F and now I'm making 120k. 35T would probably set you up to make the most amount of money on the ousid.
When I was in the army in the 80's...I met a chief warrant officer who was the manager of the NCO club!!! Holy shit...now that's military service right there!! Peace
Each branch of the US military has GREAT jobs - speaking for the navy, if you're enlisting, I recommend the nuclear propulsion program. You need the academic chops, but if can meet the ASVAB requirements and you apply yourself, you'll have education and training (there's a difference) that will feed you and your family well for a lifetime. If you make it known and you prove that you WANT to succeed, the people around you will help you do so. I know first-hand.
42 series here everyone thinks we have the easiest chillest job in the Army or S1 right and that would be true but I have the shittiest leadership possible that made me hate my experience and the Army. So like you said earlier and I tell everyone the same thing everything in the military is unit and leadership dependent. Personally I’d rather work harder and longer hours with good leadership then 09-1300 with dogshit bosses 🌝😃
I liked Drum a ton. Lived in Oswego, winter did not faze me ever. Summers,1,000 Islands, lake Ontario,Black River, was and still is the best.I vacation up there.
UAS Operator. 15W now switched to 15C. I am a Uav pilot for a contracting company. I make over 10k a month after tax. The UAV world is growing I would recommend any youngsters to choose that job
Wish my 68E was as hard working as you. He's as lazy as can be and still doesn't know the color difference between Articaine and Lidocaine after 6 months
I don’t want to scare you but that is quite literally one of the WORST places to go for basic just remember why you joined and make friends even if it’s like 2-3 people
Fuck being a POG, was infantry for ten years I was a medical assistant then now am a man Nurse you joined the military to learn how to fight not to cook or take pictures or to pray for people dying
Great videos, but I wish you would preface that these are only army jobs/Army perspective and does not include the perspectives of the Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, etc.
Gonna take a proper 90 day tolerance break and try and go back to meps around my birthday (9/29) I hate the grind of wagey life and need something that'll give me travel incentives while paying for my room and board heheh. Also cause I do want to go back to school.
I've heard from several people that 25B is better because you'll have more things to actually do whereas 25U is more "general" so they get put to doing more crappy details.
I was at Ft. Drum and that ended my career because I wanted to re-enlist but I would of had to stay there for 6 year wasn't staying there 6 more seconds
Please inform me. I'm half Turkish, half Romanian. I was born in Turkey, where the Incirlik American base is located. The first friends I made in my childhood were Americans, not Turks. My father worked with the military during the Iraq war (he had a carpet and jewelry shop in Iraq, military base). I want to go to America and join the army, but I don't know how to come to America and join the army... Can I come through the work and travel program, change my visa and stay in the U.S? The information I was given by a friend is that visas are issued on an individual basis, so I don't think that the fact that my father worked with the military is an advantage for me. I am Turkish but I feel like a Christian American because I grew up in the U.S. military. Can you please inform me about this? At Incirlik chapel, I was christened with the name Alex.
