These are my favorite type of videos you do. I love learning about all the secrets! I had no clue the bedknobs and broomsticks and Indiana jones connection. very insightful!
Girl… honestly I’m a Disney Adult obsessed and I learned more new things in this video than I’ve ever learned in a video. Thank you!! Also I so enjoy your personality (and the guys too)
I love the interaction with Mirabel and Isabella. My daughter showed Mirabel the blouse she embroidered to match hers and some other embroidery. Mirabel was so excited and complimentary. I love the characters.
If i remember correctly I think the PP and WD initials got carved into the tree in the early/mid 2010s when the Peter and Wendy cast members (who ended up getting married) were SUPER popular and developed a fandom of their own. They used to hang out around the wishing well all the time.
EPCOT: I’m hiding fascinating secrets in 11 countries around the world. DHS: I’ve got the best secrets about Disney’s most popular IPs. Disneyland: Hold my Dole Whip…🤫❤
Nerd Note: @06:08 - The conductor featured in Fantasia was Leopold Stokowski. On the happy side -- I LOVE that 'Beignets All Day" t-shirt!! Absolutely agree with you that the OG Pirates is the best! Molly, as always, these Secrets videos are my favs!
So 2112-543884... 2112 is the designation of a First Order trooper who was in the Galaxy's Edge tie-in comics, 54 could be 5/4 aka May the 4th, and 3884... no idea - scene 38 in A New Hope was when Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi fought, 84 was when Caravan of Courage (the Ewok TV movie) premiered? The mystery persists.
Another fun Disney behind the scenes fact...my daughter worked on Pirates for about a year and after they received training and were officially a cast member, they got to go in to the treasure room and move one prop around. AND she got to sign a book that was either in the treasure room or in the bedroom. I always thought that was really cool. She doesn't work there anymore, but her name will always be on the ride!
My favorite thing I learned from this video is the old skyliner vehicles being inside the Matterhorn attraction.....that is wild! Thank you for sharing.
👏 great video as always! Another secret, the Space Mountain roasty toasty was modeled after Molly, kick butt blonde who I can only assume saved the world in “1998's cinematic masterpiece Armageddon”🧡👩🚀
The MAM fam has to do New Orleans!! It’s such a great city. Eat a muffuletta as well as those beignets!! The OG pirates and a wish at the wishing well are a must do!!
I have been lucky enough to see the skeleton with the Mickey hat on. We got stopped in that section with the lights on. It was pretty cool. Unfortunately we didn’t take any pictures.
You already mentioned the skull on the bed for Pirates, but two more: 1) the treasure chest was used during filming of the first Pirates film, 2) the rock formation above the boat as you pass the two skeletons at the bar make a hidden Goofy as it forms his silhouette. Bonus, which was mentioned in the Imagineering Story, the burning town effect was so real that before the ride opened, the fire marshall did an inspection and explained to imagineers that they couldn't have a real fire in doors. The Imagineers then explained/showed him how the effect worked. I love how Imagineers had to work with the technology they had at that time as it led to simple, yet innovative solutions whereas today, the default is to just throw up a screen and make it CG.
Love these vids Molly! After watching your ABD and now the secrets vids I want to go back to DL and try to find out everything you talked about! So interesting.
The “heels” sinking into the new pavement is true, but Main St. has been re-paved, scurried, etc. many many times since then so those are not the original heel marks at all! They may have put replica heels marks in, but I kind of doubt that because that would cause water to get down into the pavement and cause damage over time.
The Matterhorn is one of a kind! Sure, it knocks you around, but the janky sensations add to the concept that riders careen through dangerous terrain and a crash site. It's more exciting than if it were a smooth ride.
Nerd Note #2: (don't want to be one of "those" people but...) Pinocchio takes place in northern Italy, not Germany. However, the northern part of Italy is very Germanic/Swiss, right down to the wearing of lederhosen. HA!
Great trivia. California is my favourite park and I love hearing everything about it. A few years back, my friend and I were there. It was off-season and it was PACKED. California doesn't usually get like that in the off season. The only other time I saw it so full was one Valentine's day (I'm never going there for Valentine's day again LOL). We asked a cast member and she said it was the family members/descendants of the people whose names are listed on the windows on main street. I don't know if it's an annual thing or a one-off though. It was just after re-opening in 2021 so maybe they were enticing people back but I thought it was cool.
You are my absolute favorite. And I adore the details. And Disneyland is my favorite. I really appreciate what an ally you are and the whole MamFam. I would suggest that if you're willing to mention straight couples on a family and children video, mentioning same gender couples is equally family children friendly. Love y'all. Thanks.
The number 2112 (the Angel number) BUT 2112-543884 is the distance from the Death Star Exhaust Port as per Reddit, but it did not say the distance from what? Maybe Earth??
This prompted research 🧐 when she said this … the original story by Carlo Collodi puts it set in Tuscany, Italy … many sites also note this including Disney movie Wikipedia page, however on the Disney Wiki it contradicts the Tuscany setting but still Italy, more likely Northern Italy, around the area of South Tyrol, which is on the border of Austria, which is where the Bavarian (German) architecture influences come from. The names are unmistakably Italian - Pinocchio, Geppetto, Stromboli - and of course the ultimate Italian stamp on the passport 🇮🇹 is on It’s a Small World at Disneyland, Pinocchio’s image can be found in the Italy section.
my mom moved out to California from the East Coast to be a mermaid at Disneyland, but they had ended the real mermaid program before she got there. true story
Wait a fiddle faddle second....marks on mainstreet pavement? That would of had to be re-poured many times since 1955? No? or am I just crazy...maybe...
Did you just say Pinocchio takes place in Germany? You owe every Italian an apology. Everyone in the film has an Italian name, many are ironic. Pinocchio translates to "pine eye" or "wooden eye."
