Yeah I'm a computer science student and need this thing for programming and this is exactly what I need. Windows 10, portable, small, lightweight, decent RAM and decent storage. Just perfect
I see many people complain about this tablet so just for the record. After using it for a year, I am able to lock it at 1.9 ghz (4 core) stable at 68 °C and i am able to play league of legends (24 fps), cod world at war (30 fps), The witcher (27 fps) , Elder Scrolls 3 (40 fps+) and almost all titles before 2010 - 2009 at acceptable frame rates . Runs office like a boss and covers all your daily needs. I have the 4gb ram version (it's a must). So no it's not trash. bought it for 250 $. You will need to install ThrottleStop tough to Lock it. Awesome product!
After watching this review video and others, I decided to invest in the 4gb/128gb Miix 320 for use as a dedicated portable writing workstation -- running the low-system-resource-demand but state-of-the-art Scrivener software by Literature & Latte. For such a purpose: this device is ideal. Easy to carry, plenty of features for productivity, long battery life, and a device that you can actually have comfortably on your lap for a long time while you are traveling, unlike the average....uh......."laptop." Not to mention that this is a quality device for a surprisingly small amount of money. So, no.......I don't need to upgrade my aging iPad to run a portable version of Scrivener. The Windows version of Scrivener, loaded on this little netbook will do just fine. And for less expense. For one thing, this one comes with its own keyboard. Thanks for the video, even though it's almost a year old. It's still helpful.
Thanks for making the video before I buy. I would get the biggest 4GB ram version (with 128gb) . I don't think you can add an extra 2GB ram after buying the laptop as RAM is soldered in the board. For those who mentioned the MicroSD will only take a 64GB card, I am going to test to see if maybe putting in a 128GB microsd into my Kingston USB card with sd adapter will allow the laptop to read all 128GB. I don't see why there should be any limits these days to USB or microsd, maybe just need a Windows update.

Great review, thanks! When we travel, we like to share photos with family before we depart. Could I download photos from a smartphone or camera via a USB cord, save them on the 'desktop', then move them to a USB stick?
the transformer mini has a better stylus and pen input! but the resolution is 1280 x 780. where this miix 320 only the 4gig version supports active stylus and is not great but it's not terrible. however it has 2 USB ports and 1920 x 2130 display.
Just got a miix 320-10ICR. It has 2GB / 64GB of memory, cannot be upgraded. My main complaint is that the largest micro sd card it will recognize is 64GB. If you put anything larger in it causes the computer to act weird. Screen res is 1280 x 800. It is reasonably fast, but the limit of 128GB total memory is a bummer. Lenovo support is terrible. They have told me that it should support a 256GB micro sd card, then later told me no that it would only support up to a 128, then finally that it will only support 64. In my experience 64 is the largest it will support. Battery life has been pretty good. Better deal is Acer One 10, similar performance but will support 128GB micro sd cards for more memory.
+Zach's Tech Turf I'm still deciding whether to get this or Asus transformer mini. an office Max in my town has a mix 320 on display and it was the 4gig version. the active stylus comes with it so I tried it and it's better than a capacitive pen. the sales guy showed me a 2 gig version and warned me about the lack of active stylus support. we tried the active pen on it and it didn't work. there has been a lot of complains about people being told about active stylus support but when they get their 2 gig version they realize there is no support. this makes complete sense due to 4gigs being good enough to keep up with the strokes and details etc.
Hey Zach I just came across this device somewhere and I'm thinking of picking it up. I'm a college student and all I do is some occasional web browsing and I use office apps like Word, PowerPoint and Excel for my assignments can this device handle that without any problems ?
Very small with Windows10 though! I just installed Linux Mint on a Lenovo Miix 320 (detachable tablet/laptop). I noticed 3 issues so far: display is sideways, touch screen not working, and can't connect to wireless. Any advice?
Hey Zach, do you know when the Miix 320 will be available? Have you come across any problems with it? Is it possible to charge it using a USB cable? Do Lenovo have a USB to power converter?
How's the camera quality for the rear facing camera? Is it comparable to say an iPad or iPhone? Also, this might be a dumb question but can you download apps like Facebook/instagram etc? (is there an app store?)
You’re only gonna be able to buy those big stylus that are made to work on every screen, nothing specific for this laptop. I doubt it has that good of palm rejection, I wouldn’t be using this for any creative work.
Looks perfect for travelling, I love my Lenovo Y50, but it's not a small laptop for small trips where you spend a lot of time outside (it's kinda heavy too); this laptop at least seems easy to pack and carry lol.
I've been thinking about the 4gb ram version but I'm concerned about how it runs heroes of the storm which is why I'd want one in the first place. The miix 5xx seems a better option due to i5 but that's significantly more expensive
Question: Is it possible to use a normal full size keyboard - connect to it with USB ? (Then I can use a more comfortable keyboard at home and only use small keyboard when I am travelling. )
Good review, I am actually convinced to buy this as my on the go tablet but have a few concerns and was wondering if you could advise me on this. Firstly, I mostly use VLC Player for my movies, Connect my iPhone to iTunes for music and pictures or so, use a software called FLStudio for my music and Virtual DJ, and play GTA San Andreas on my Intel Celeron. My major concern was if i shift all this to the Lenovo Miix 320, would this process faster or slower and lag? My laptop currently uses a Intel Celeron n2840 with 4GB RAM ... and the Lenovo Mixx 320 that is available for purchase is the same but with a 4GB RAM? Please help Thanks
That Celeron processor and 4GB of RAM is a huge upgrade compared to what's in the Lenovo Miix 320. I highly doubt you'll be able to play Grand Theft Auto on this thing, but playing music is movies (even 1080p) is no problem.
Good review, I am thinking about getting this but worried about the feel, it looks plasticy, but your review got me thinking. also in my country the screen is a full HD screen (I have the pamphlet in front of me) so very surprised to hear yours is different (???), wait, oh the 2G RAM version has the lower quality screen and the 4G RAM version has a 1920x1200 screen and its only a fraction more! Buyers beware!
Yea I couldn't find the 1200p resolution anywhere except on Lenovo's website which said "Coming Soon". But also, definitely don't worry about the build quality, it's one of my favorite features honestly, especially for this price range.

I’ve used a 128 SanDisk just fine. I’ve heard that 256 will only work with some brands and some won’t, can’t confirm which ones will work. Sorry. Good luck and let me know if you find out!

Windows 10 has a built in Defender security software so you shouldn't need to download anything extra. If you do however, then you'll have to make that call based off your security needs.
Hi Zack love your video, game me alot of info about this computer before I bought one..I wanted to know can you use a stylist or active pen like wacom and also can I do light photoediting or light Photoshop cuz other people I see making videos say u can wanted to ask an expert like u
You can use a basic stylus but a specific Wacom one probably won’t work because I doubt the accuracy of this touch screen is good enough. Haven’t tried for myself though.
I'm planning to buy this soon. Only really plan to use it for basic web browsing and watching RU-vid vids. Is the 2gb setup enough to run smoothly or should I pony up the extra $100 for 4gb? Thanks.
$100? Hmmm, I personally wouldn't do that, especially if you're just browsing the web and watching videos. I can't imagine that it'll be worth that much more money.
How is wi-fi signal and connectivity overall? Is it good? I have read that for example in Asus Transformer 101HA wifi is slow and weak signal as heck. If wi-fi is good in this tablet I will buy it (4GB/128GB model)! Thanks in advance.
I'm not exactly sure what the BEST option is, but just know that anything NEW under $300 will be a tough sell for editing photos and especially videos. How serious are you taking your content creation?

My wife needs a small, cheap laptop just to present PowerPoints and film clips when she teaches. I tried to play an MP4 off a flash drive using the floor model of this laptop at Office Depot, and I got "cannot play this." And when I tried to show a PowerPoint it wanted to sign-into Office365 online. So, please: Will this play MP4s or not? With the Win10 Movie app? or can it handle something like VLC Player? And is there even room, or computing power, to install and run an offline version of MS Office? Thanks for any tips.
It’ll definitely run MP4 with something like VLC, it probably just wasn’t installed on the floor model. But I really wouldn’t recommend this laptop for a professional setting. An Intel Atom processor isn’t powerful at all, I would recommend something with at least an i3 for her work laptop.

I agree about an i3 minimum even with her modest use-case, but there aren't a lot of choices (especially budget) that combine a small/light size with any real computing power. Some great choices if she would't mind lugging a 15.6 inch -- I'll try to talk her into that. I tried to boost an old Atom-CPU netbook with an SSD and more RAM, but the Atom just won't do the job.
@Dan Magoo it depends whether you're talking about editing/working on presentations or just displaying them. If all the actual work will be done on another machine and this is just going to be used display presentations, open a couple of documents/pdfs/spreadsheets and check email, then I don't see this being a problem What do you think Zach?
Zach's Tech Turf I got a "couch" in a corner of my room, it's thought for looking some RU-vid/chilling. I also got a table it's for my chips and the laptop. And it's maybe for some gaming in the living room or in the bed. Not on my big PC setup.
Yea, after you start loading a ton of apps, games, etc it does start to bog down. You have to take care of your hard drive space, not multi task, and possibly reload windows every now and then to keep it snappy.

Of course, with this slow of hardware after you start installing a bunch of apps and building up your cache and what not its gonna start to slow down just like any other computer. For this one I'm probably going to be resetting Windows a couple times a year to keep it fresh.
