Not putting the G14 and G16 in the Gamers categories is weird? you can easily fix either the heat or noise issues by uninstalling Armory crate and replacing it with G-helper, then undervolting and making a custom fan curve, after these simple adjustment they become better in every way than the Omen Transcend and becomes suitable for creator use since they're so compact and light.

@@oscarswazi6412 And worst in usability XD No real ports, low GPU wattage, heat and fan noise even worse than gaming laptops, the same stupid unusable FN keys that even Apple learned to remove, high price even higher than an equivalent macbook (the base version is useless with a terrible screen and no dedicated GPU) The XPS line is destroyed, it is what apple used to be from 2016-2019, great looking device, but completely horrible in every other metric.

DO NOT BUY AN HP LAPTOP! Trust me, I have a HP Envy x360, it looks gorgeous and I was very pleased with my purchased at first. I also asked the guy from the store about the hinges, if they would be resistant enough. He sold me some crap about hinges that were tested to last for thousands of times. It's a lie. The hinges broke... twice. Now my laptop is not covered by the warranty anymore and my screen cracked because of the hinge breaking free from the cover. I can't close my laptop anymore. It's brand new on the inside and a mess on the outside despite infinite care and precaution. There are countless stories of people encountering the same problem, HP know and do nothing! It's way more bankable to make buy a new machine every year. Don't waste your money!

Same here. I have an HP Pavilion x360 and my first battery got killed, replaced the battery only for it to get killed AGAIN a few months later. At my third battery (less than a year old) and it's already at 0.15Wh of capacity AT FULL CHARGE. And it costed $1000 when I first bought it. Never trusting HP again.

I bought the Yogi i9 the day it came available mostly because of Josh's reviews and comments about it. I like it and it is all of what he said it is but I would highly suggest that you don't get caught up in the excitement of a "New" laptop coming out and buy it right away. I waited from Jan when I first saw Josh's review until April when it was available to buy it. Now only 2 months later I see it selling for $1699. I paid $2100 two months ago. I would suggest taking all of his reviews and info and waiting at least a few months after it comes out so you can save the $400

I picked up Asus TUF A15 with a 7940HS + 4060 (140W) for just $1330, I'd say it's nearly perfect, the build of the frame is very strong, hardly bends, performance is outstanding, in light and medium tasks the fans are turned off, you only hear them a bit while gaming at around 40db in Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing (but with a headset you can't hear anything), the only downside is the screen being 1080p LCD (At least it's 100% sRGB, 144Hz), and battery life is okey-ish at around 5 hours of light use. I use it for mainly game development and gaming and it's been perfect.

I'm a gamer: i'm getting 350+ FPS in valorant at stretched 1.4K res, 250+ FPS in CS2, and 130 FPS in destiny 2 in 1920x1200... all while not having nvidia game ready drivers installed (because I'm using the studio drivers). I could get even more frames out of this thing, and I still don't feel the need too. I'm a uni student: if you put this thing in battery saver, 75% brightness or less, at put the refresh rate to 60FPS, this thing lasts the whole day and still works incredibly well. **ALL THIS WITH ONLY THE 4060 VARIANT!!! After 4 hours of Netflix playback A has %90 battery in it while B has %80. If you put them into the graphs like that the average Joe will look at them and say "Oh 80 and 90 is basically the same" But in reality laptop A has used only 10% where laptop B used 20% which actually means Laptpop A's battery life is 2 times of B.

Between Computex next week, M4 MBPs launching in the autumn & CEX in January, the laptop market will have a whole new generation of models to consider. With major generational updates from Snapdragon, Apple, Intel & AMD, everything here will be outdated & seriously outperformed so only buy at a VERY generous discount.

Such a great video, I really like how you guys recognise how difficult is to choose a gaming laptop nowadays. While you guys do not include it under the gaming category, would you recommend the Yoga Pro 9i with an RTX4070? I do not play the most demanding games (mostly FIFA) and I feel like the laptop offers the same premium feel as the G16 but with less fan noise (and a smaller price tag!). Also...how was the battery life for the Yoga Pro 9i in real life use? Thanks!

As far as other reviews say the Yoga is a great option, as premium as the G16 but keep in mind a bit heavier, so the G16 might still be worth it if you're ready to do some tweaking to make it run quieter and cooler. But anyways, fifa is an easy game to run so even cheaper 4060 laptops would work for you just fine.

I got the 4060 32GB variant In premiere pro, even with my 10 bit 422 4K a7S III footage, it runs smoothly. it blows my mind. In gaming, i'm getting 350+ FPS in valorant at stretched 1.4K res, 250+ FPS in CS2 1.4K res, and 130 FPS in destiny 2 in 1920x1200... all while not having nvidia game ready drivers installed (because I'm using the studio drivers). I could get even more frames out of this thing, and I still don't feel the need too. I'm a uni student: if you put this thing in battery saver, 75% brightness or less, at put the refresh rate to 60FPS, this thing lasts the whole day and still works incredibly well. if you watched josh's dedicated video on this laptop, you'll see that it actually has the same performance as the G16 w/ the same gpu, but cooler and quieter lol

Lenovo's seem to do pretty alright in these videos. I do enjoy my Lenovo flex running Linux, might go for an upgrade. But likely wait out to see how these copilot+ PC's end up

I’m curious why you don’t mention that Mac’s don’t support Daisy chaining which allows you to have 2 monitors by connecting them to each other with one cable and connecting one usb type c to the laptop. Discovered that for this reason most Mac users buy docks as if it were a normal thing to do.

Great video Josh !!!! I would love your opinion on something. Say I want to buy a Laptop for Research and GIS work what would you suggest ? Let's say normal GIS work Vs heavy GIS work. And let's say No less than 500GB SSD (ideally 1TB), no less than 16GB of RAM, a good port selection and a Number pad. If you see this, thank you in advance and thank you for all your efforts !!!

Will be very interesting to see how the new Windows 11 ARM based laptops with the Snapdragon X Plus/Elite SOCs compare to the MacBook Air/Pro. If we can get even 80% of the performance of the M2 with those and all the other benefits around battery life and portability I think that would be a big plus for any of us in the Windows ecosystem.

After all it's a nice try to push Intel and AMD laptops but NO ONE IS INTERESTED IN THOSE POWER HUNGRY SH*Ts any more. There are currently only two options, MacBooks or Copilot+PCs.

Another very good laptop **imo** is the new 2024 Huawei Matebook D16: it has 4 different configurations - the lowest one sporting a 12th gen. Core i5 (and the highest a 13th gen. Core i9) - which makes it suitable for every kind of workflow, the keyboard is great to type on and the 720p HD camera is not bad either; on the other hand the screen is only a 300 nits 16:10 IPS, although with a 90% screen-body ratio. The ports kinda suck too (there are only 1 USB-C, 2 USB-A one of which still _2.0,_ 1 HDMI and the headphone jack), but that is remediable with a hub. All in all though it’s quite a good machine adaptable to all kind of works….and pockets, as the prices range from 600€ to 1200€ (but you can easily find it for cheaper on Amaz0n and other platforms). 🙂

Surprised that the Asus vivobook s14 oled haven’t make it to this list despite having Intel Ultra 9 185h//16gb//1tb for $899 Best value for money IMO.

Heat and fan noise are such weird metrics to judge a gaming laptop by. I'm still not sure why the Omen Transcend is recommended over the G14 when you're paying a similar price for the Transcend as the G14 but experience about a a 25% drop in performance versus the G14. Yeah, the Transcend runs cooler, but even amongst laptop gamers--what percentage of the community realistically plays games on their dang lap? In how many scenarios is someone going to game, where they wouldnt happen to have a desk in front of them OR choose to game on their lap instead of their desk? As opposed to buying a gaming laptop for being a machine that is portable and also happens to game? And of course the other complaint is the fan noise...okay but how many gamers will be using laptop speakers as opposed to having dedicated gaming earbuds or headphones or desktop speakers? I want to know in what universe does less fan noise and less heat beat a 25% more GPU performance, more vibrant screen, significantly better speakers, better build quality, lighter laptop, smaller footprint.
