Simple home repairs in affluent, white collar communities is where the money is at! People want things fixed quickly and they don’t want to have to worry about it.

I learned this a long long time ago. If you make 3 circles that overlap. They will form a triangle. Each circle is has a name 1 PRICE 2 QUALITY 3 SERVICE Where the 3 circles overlap this area is labeled VALUE. Every customer has these 3 criteria and for each the order is different. This priority will change how the location of VALUE area moves. The underlying message is that if the customer thinks he got a good VALUE then he/she did. When you are in business you need to know what the customers motivation is and where it is based. You are very good at selecting the correct customers. I am working on finding these customers too. Thank you!

No BS here. The Handyman speaks the truth. I can tell you that I live in a beach resort town on the east coast that has a population of 6,900 but has close to 25,000 rental units . There has been many a time that I have given out a price. The I really don't want this job I have to much on my plate now and they jump on it. Why? Because I showed up . Here people have the hardest time to get people to show up just to give them a estimate and people are will to pay to get the work done.

Love the video! I am a handyman/contractor in a 3 city area with total population around 150,000. I can nearly guarantee myself any work I want just by showing up, giving an estimate, and communicating with people. People skills and prompt service can take anyone in the trades as far as they wish. Unfortunately it's all to common for trades people to be entirely lacking in this area. But it makes things better for those of us who have what it takes!

By watching these video's and stepping up my business direction, I have made the MOST this year than I ever had before. And it keeps coming. Know your self worth to people, the product and service you provide and stick to it. Has't failed me yet. Thanks!

You're right about Austin having a large supply of blue collar available but finding the high quality tradesmen is a different story. There's always room for excellence. I make good money (not rich) but I take my truck to an expensive mechanic simply because he knows his trade and there's no getting jerked around so it's worth it to have that level of competence and reliability. Same with my guitar tech. But I manage my money well and that makes all the difference.

Your a businessman. That's it, plain and simple. The difference between you and the haters is you're a better businessman than them. Best of luck to you and keep it going.

This is excellent information especially for those new to running their own business and even for those of us that have been doing it for awhile now. I live in an area that is known as poverty with a view. The average home cost over 300k but the average salary is $15 an hour. The kicker here is we are a college town with plenty of second home owners here as well. We have lots of million dollar homes and those are the customers I target. When you are in this business long enough you realize that you would rather charge what you need to live and cover your overhead than to charge less and work more going broke the whole time. You can go broke sitting at home drinking a beer rather than running around like a chicken with your head cut off. The hardest customers I have ever worked for were the lower dollar customers because they want the 30k bathroom for 10k and there just isn’t any way those numbers are going to ever work out in your favor and they are the ones who want to nit pick everything. Also if someone ever tells you they don’t want to pay the going rate for something in your area just walk away because I can tell you from experience they will just be a royal pain to work with and you won’t make it up in another portion of the job you will end up working for free and you will miss out on good jobs because you are busy doing that one.

Not complaining, seems like this should have been one of your first videos on this Chanel, I am in South Carolina and I ask for and get $50 an hr, might be able to get more if I tried, but I America older and on my way out so I have no big goals or plans, wish I had started thinking like you do years ago, I wish you all the best and God bless you, I'm sure you will reach your goals, make as much as the market will bare

Thank you for the info, I’ve been watching your channel a lot lately, I don’t any experience in home repairs. I have always work on car’s since a kid, taken electronic apart when my mother wasn’t looking lol. I rent so sometimes the owners take for ever to fix things around the house, I’ve fix the bathrooms vent when it stop spinning I would hear it but it wouldn’t spin. Changed an outlet, paint the house, changed the light fixture to LED. can’t break it when it’s already broken. Watching your channel has got me intrigued to get into the handing man business as a side job, might go work for somebody to learn even if it’s for free, just to get some experience under my belt
