This is one the best pedal reviews I’ve seen. Love the vibe! I own the CooperEFX Arcades and it’s such a fun pedal. The Gen Loss card is incredible. Keep up the great content!
Thanks so much!!! I actually have an arcades and the Gen Loss card, Russ was kicking himself afterwords for forgetting to include it 😂 im trying to get him to do more of these on this channel!
As a guitarist I've never heard these pedals on a harp and it's the coolest thing... gives me an instant feeling of listening on a gramophone even though vinyl and cassette is as old as I go 😄
Hahah welcome to my channel & community!! ❤️🥰 you can hear most pedals through harp on my channel!!! I totally can see that gramophone vibe you’re talking about!!!
I enjoyed the more technical look at these fine fidelity munchers and seeing your preferred ones after all the wonderful demos. Hope to see you (and your hands) again soon, Russ.
Thanks Megan!!! Russ is definitely gonna be making more speaking appearances soon!! We're so glad you liked this, I was super busy with gigs last week and gave him free reign to make whatever video he wanted on the channel 😆
I love this channel. Hope the gig went well. My resolution was to save more $$ and not buy any gear this year but yeah...that's not going so well. Great reviews, thank you!
"Whatever you now find weird, ugly, uncomfortable and nasty about a new medium will surely become its signature. CD distortion, the jitteriness of digital video, the crap sound of 8-bit - all of these will be cherished and emulated as soon as they can be avoided. It's the sound of failure: so much modern art is the sound of things going out of control, of a medium pushing to its limits and breaking apart. The distorted guitar sound is the sound of something too loud for the medium supposed to carry it. The blues singer with the cracked voice is the sound of an emotional cry too powerful for the throat that releases it. The excitement of grainy film, of bleached-out black and white, is the excitement of witnessing events too momentous for the medium assigned to record them." - Brian Eno, A Year With Swollen Appendices
I'll try to get him to open up about his background on camera! Haha. He's in a band/group with a single and record coming out soon enough - I play on most of the songs on the album! I'll definitely be posting about it when it's out. Mastering is starting next week!
Sweet baby Jesus... Pedal magic aside, all Russ is missing is a mighty afro with a canvas and some liquid clear mixed with phtalo blue... Yeah... There's no such thing as bad sounds, just happy little accidents... Oh yes, my comment is not consistent, but that's ok, we're a lot into happy accidents...
I tried the gen loss v2 but it didn’t feel quite right despite having all the features I wanted. This video helped a lot to see some other options. Think I’ll look more into the hungry robot. Appreciate you
@@emilyharpist I got the Wardenclyffe Deluxe a few days ago and I love it. Feels much more sweet than the generation loss v2 to me, although I do miss having separate knobs for the low pass and high pass filters. Thank you for introducing me to something I’ll probably have in my board for a long time.
01:56 and I already feel that I'm going to learn so much from this channel. Thanks so much to you both for sharing this amazing collaboration with us. I'm so hungry for some cool pedals now, I had a Jim Dunlop crybaby back in in the day but I sold it to buy... stuff. Time to rewind/re-cue. Thanks again.
I love that your hair is short, Emily, and Russ’s hair is so much longer than yours. Just like me and my boyfriend (except his is only around shoulder length lol)
hahah it used to be the other way around when we first started dating!! 😂❤️ I used to have long blonde hair, and he had short brown hair. I guess we were made for each other hahahah
When you laughed at yourself for saying its so well built, i said to myself he just likes holdin it in his hands. I was right lol. Also, love your smile. It was half the enjoyment for me.
Hahaha thanks so much!! (This is Russ) - I’ve been wanting to do a follow-up for a while! I definitely should soon cause we got like 5 more lo fi pedals and I love a lot of them more than some of these
Amazing video... Love the Wardenclyffe... Unfortunately they don't make it with the old chassis (the same in the video).... only with the v2 chassis...
I KNOW!! It’s so expensive but within the next year, Chase Bliss audio should be coming out with a way more affordable version (because there won’t be limited supply)
Hmm very interesting. I think I liked the first 3 pedals the most. If i were to buy one though itd deffo be a hard choice between the first and the second one. Also Russ is so confident when hes talking but then so awkward afterwards in a cute kind of way its honestly hilarious. Both of you should definitely do more stuff together haha ^-^
hahah thank you so much!! and YES i love doing videos with Russ! he's going to be in more of them coming soon (because i'm making him do it LOL) 😂♡ thank you for being here!! :3
Thank you for being so interactive with your audience. It feels like thats a dwindling thing to see on RU-vid these days. I found your videos cuz of the nepenthes and the harp but i really like your content. Glad to be here cant wait to see more ^-^
I see that most of these pedals are not stereo. Naturally, being mono, is the natural state of lofi. Are there any stereo options in the market? El Capistan's wrinkled tape the only possibility? Thanks for the great interview
I don't know if it's mine... but with the Wardenclyffe V1 i hear an hiss sound that become stronger increasing wet knob or increasing wiith HP frequency.... Did you notice something like that? Your seems to be very quiet!
I didn’t notice that with mine!! It may be an individual unit thing, I would definitely reach out to them! With these kind of units there’s definitely a slight noise floor hiss, but usually it’s manageable and not crazy noticeable. It makes sense that it would increase with the HP on, if it’s not coming from your guitar then I’m sure their support could help you out! I actually don’t have mine anymore, I traded it with a friend for another pedal
How does the tracking compare on these pedals? I have the wardenclyffe and there is a bit of delay when playing with only the wet signal, unfortunately.
Probably a stupid question - but, how do you amplify a harp, and direct the sound through an effects pedal? Is it just a microphone, or are there pickups/piezos etc like on a guitar?
@@emilyharpist the Wardenclyffe Deluxe and m1 look 👀 pretty good but I’m new to pedals I checked out the swan you like, but I think it works better for a harpist than a hip-hop based producer
It’s too bad Cooper FX decided to go to Chase Bliss. I’d be interested in a Generation Loss, but when pedals are elevated in the aftermarket, I ignore them. To quote Josh from JHS, “there’s no magic in pedals; they’re circuits,” so I don’t see the value of paying surplus cost for bedroom players like myself. I’ll pay the cost of a pedal in general because the expense is relative to what I think they’re worth, so if they were generally available, I’d buy one.
I completely agree with that!!! Chase Bliss said they will be releasing a new version of generation loss in the next few months - I think they are waiting until they have enough so that it won’t sell out easily and have an aftermarket inflation - they’ve expressed how upset they have been with that whole situation
