it would be nice if I could find a 1.0 tip for it.....the R100 comes with a 0.8 tip.....no other tips seem to be available for that one......I found a cheap HPLV with a 1.0 that worked for me......the tip size become very apparent when mixing powder and with clear to get the color desired...

After finishing a job at home today with this gun, I had to stop by and say thank you for the recommendation. I'm working in my home garage with a 4cfm compressor and have produced decent results with some cheaper and much more expensive guns than this one, but for the first time, I'm proud of the factory-like finish that I was able to lay down with this gun today with no buffing, sanding or polishing. I have dreaded this part of the jobs I've done so far but now I'm excited to do more. Really impressed with this gun ! Thanks!

Awesome! Hey, I really appreciate you letting me know about your experience with the gun. Helps me to dial in the content for the community. Let me ask you with the 4 cfm compressor did you use the technique of lowering air pressure along with the fluid volume to get your results? If not what we're you gun settings.

i have two of these guns. i also have a 25 gallon Costco compressor. i use the gun for painting kitchen cabinets. it works better than the way more expensive Fuji HVLP. this is some of the best $75 i spent

I've used lots of guns. From Profesional to harbour fraight $20 guns. Really the biggest issue is cleaning them. Make sure it's clean inside. Better guns are easier to clean and made better obviously. Good video explaining everything. Cheap guns can be a pain to clean if you don't have a gun cleaner lol

I've been using budget pps since day one. I also pick up the refill packs at Harbor Freight because it only costs about 10 bucks for enough to do an entire job or a few small jobs. I always use pps for clear because of the screen, but to save $$ I often use a regular cup for base and sometimes primer. Base isn't too bad to clean out.

Your right about that. I've always been in the habit of judging how the clear is coming off the gun because for a long time I was painting with a smaller compressor. Wish I had this gun when I was struggling with air pressure. Appreciate the comment and support!

Yeah I've tried two of them and have multiple video's on the channel sharing gun setting and doing demos of how they perform. They all spray the exact same. Great guns! I'll be reviewing a new one next week.

I haven't heard you say anything about nozzle size. The R500s on Amazon mostly come with 1.3 nozzles, but some are different. I see one offer that comes with a 1.3, a 1.5, a 1.7, and a 2.0 for $120. You mentioned in a comment that you spray primer with a 1.6 nozzle, but that a 1.4 will work, and you spray sealer with 1.3, but you don't mention what nozzle you spray color and clear with. This is all critical stuff to noobs looking to buy a first gun and try to do our own stuff. How much do we need to worry about such things when buying? Do you not mention it because it doesn't really matter, or because it's so basic that you don't even think about it? Inquiring minds want to know.

@@GarageNoise I have an old El Camino that a previous owner had painted by a budget shop. The paint is literally just falling off of it now. I'm considering sanding it down and shooting it with epoxy primer for the time being -- no body work -- just to protect it, then getting it painted sometime down the road, possibly a couple of years. A video on this idea would be helpful. What do I need? What should I look out for? Better to hang the hood, or shoot it flat? Shoot one piece at a time, or all at once? Differences in brands/types of epoxy primer to double-check? It will eventually be metallic silver, so grey primer for easy coverage, or black to give contrast for the final primer and paint? My compressor is a 2hp, 20gal, so LVLP with what size nozzle? Recommendations for water/oil filters? I don't expect you to answer everything here, just throwing out the kind of things I'm confused/concerned about, to give you ideas for future videos. Also, I see ads for some really cheap guns - $20 to $45... Probably just crap? I appreciate your videos. Still wading through them. Recommendations of other channels worth watching? Thanks.

Good ole Rongpeng. That model has been around for years. Got one posing as an Astro Evo4014. Great gun back in the days and still today if anyone's still has it. If not, just find a Rongpeng, Sprayit sp-33000, and whatever else. It does atomize well, but way too slow for a whole car unless it's really compact.

I like both guns, If you looking for a first gun you might start with the r500 you can find them dirt cheap. What video are you requesting ? Not following you.

Awesome video. Just one question. At the end although the paint looked fantastic and smooth I could see quite a few specs in the paint. Was this dust caught in the clear or was it caused by the gun ?

Ingersoll rand it in my Amazon store but the one listed is a 3phase compressor and I'm using a single phase. So make sure you get the one for your power supply.

My set up is a mini HpLv with duel in lines filters. And a harbor freight ulta quiet compressor, it has no problem keeping up air. And they are not expensive. I can't believe I'm promoting them lol. I'm a hater🤣 but everything works well I paid $35 for the gun a decades ago. About 200 for the compressor. I like this guy's info. And I'm going to check out this lphv gun.

"Pete's Hobbies" performed some side by side testing of various gun's CFM usages. The R500 came out at near 8 CFM, and not the 3.7 claimed CFM. I'm still going to get one because videos like yours provide so much information on the R500. (and I haven't sprayed a car since 1990). Wanted to provide this FYI incase gun is acting up while using a 5.5 CFM compressor.

Yeah, I don't feel like it's a sub 5 cfm gun. I can say it is the lowest air consumption compared to other guns I've owned and used. I feel like it's between 7-10 still very low

You talked me into the Aeropro R500. Thanks. I tried the el'cheapo Harbor Freight $15 gun and had to stop after my first coat. I just couldn't adjust my mixture to get a decent finish. So I'll do my next coat with the R500, after I do a little sanding

Note to everyone, this gun and the inoteck D 1 Drizzle are the exact same. Anything you need such as every size needle nozzle and cap set, replacement parts, seal's etc are only available through aeropro for A610/R500 but work on both

Going to pick up this LVLP up but wanted to see if you could advise if a Kobalt 26gal that’s 4.5 cfm at 90psi would be okay or do I need something that’s even bigger? It would probably get the job done, I like to see at least 6cfm. I always say buy as much cfm as you can afford. Harbor freight makes one 30 gallon close to 6cfm for under 300 I believe. Hope this helps appreciate the sub and support! Welcome to the community!

Which do you think is the better LVLP paint gun? The R500 Areopro a610 or the Astro EVOT13? I don't need a LVLP as far as my compressor goes, I have a 60 Gallon. I just want the best finish with the least amount of overspray as I'm painting in my home garage.

The R500 or A610 are the same gun just a different appearance. If you want low overspray this is the gun to get. Evot might have a slightly better finish but it doesn't offset the material savings and low overspray of the R500. Appreciate your comment and support!

Yes I do , I overlap 70-80% no matter what gun I'm using. You don't have to overlap that much anywhere from 60 to 80% depending on yout preference. Appreciate the comment and support!

For spraying a single stage, do you suggest the 1.3 tip that comes with the gun? I was planning on buying the Eastwood gun, but I can buy the R500 gun and spray cup system for the same price.

You could get the r500 with multiple needle sets. The 1.3 should get it done but you may be better of with the 1.4 . I would try the 1.3 first

A bit too small your compressor needs to produce about 6 cfm's of air. Typically that's a 30 gallon compressor.

Size isn't as relevant as air production. You want a compressor that produces at least 6 cfms for an overall paint job. Appreciate your comment brother!

So, Why not just do the entire bumper. The reason is color match. If you notice I tried to stay away from the end of the bumper cover where it meets up with the quarter panel. Appreciate the comment and support brother!

Great video and great information but i have a question , would this gun be suitable for spraying a satin black 2 pac , will be respraying my car soon and going with a satin 2pac so I won't be clearing over it

I did my international Scout with that gun, took the top, fenders, doors and windshield cowl off and sprayed them separately, then only had 2 body panels on the truck to do along with the door jambs. worked very well. did it with a 29 gallon 5cfm compressor.

Because of color match. I want to leave the original color on the ends of the bumper to match the fender that was not getting painted. Appreciate the comment and support!

I’m not a painter but I’ve used rattle can paint on small projects and it turned out good. But when I’ve tried to paint with a paint gun it looks bad always get orange peel I try to do everything just right but always turns out wrong.

Paint a complete you want as many cfm's nas you can afford. You can get away with about 6cfms but it may slow you down waiting on air from compressor. Harbour freight make a 30gal I believe that will get the job done.

I'd mentioned to you in another video that my R500 came with a damaged air cap. But, since I didn't use it until after the return date, I now have a paper weight. Moral: Inspect on arrival.

I paid $100 for my 30 gallon husky in 1999. It puts out 12 CFM. I will get a 10 CFM gun.

You mentioned the significant overspray when shooting clear with the Aiwata gun. I appreciate that you said that as I have that gun and the first time I shot clear with it in my garage that was a very significant issue. I don't use the gun anymore just for that reason. It is a very good gun though as the end result is great, both color and clear.

For sure, If someone is spraying in a booth it's not an issue but without one ventilation is a problem. This gun make a significant difference. I appreciate you commenting and supporting the channel!

Very informative, you mentioned a couple times that it was cooler out. Do you recall about what the temps were? Its been ranging about 60-65 deg here and I'm not sure if it's too cold.

That's not to cold to paint in just use the appropriate speed and reducer for that temp. When it gets 50-55 i like to warm up the panel with a heat lamp.

I just watched review of the R500 on the bumper . Nice finish with clear. That’s what convinced me to buy the R500. Then the Astro HE came out and your review of that seemed that it was better then the R500. What do you say to that issue?

It may have just a bit better finish but the R500 has it beat in air consumption, materials savings and lower overspray.

so if you are painting a car with old paint, do you sand it then primer the entire car then paint and clear coat? or do you sand the old paint and paint over that with base coat and skip the primer?

Im new a using those throw away cups I was told that when you get ready to use them after filling them with you paint or clear you have to flip the gun upside down and pull the trigger to draw the air out of the cup I have done this and it shrinks the inside liner or compress it then you flip it back to normal and start applying product. I notice you didn't do that. Was i missed informed on the correct procedure

No problem, I know you're a busy guy, but I noticed in your other video where you did a comparison between the ASTRO EVO T & ASTRO EURO HE, you mentioned that the EVO T was your pick, and that it was a good choice for the do it yourself home guys with a lower tank compressor since it requires less air to run it more continually than the Astro Euro HE... could you recommend if im using a 29~30 gallon Air Compressor Tank, whether the Evo T would still be a solid Choice? Or should I just go with the AeroPro LPLV 500/610??? Or would 1 of the 2 be better suited for either Sealer, Base or Clear? And the other for a Sealer, Base, or Clear? As thats what I would like to do is get a Gun for Primer/Primer Sealer, A Gun For Base, and a Gun for Clearing.... I was thinking Evo T for 1, AeroPro LVLP 500 for another, and AeroPro LVLP 610 for another... Or At least 2 guns for the time being now is what I at least need (Priming and Sealing, and 1 for Base and Clearing) Any Help on this would be GREAT! Been a long time since I've done a FULL Paint Job with a Gun!... since 2004 lol

Hey, I’m doing a full paint job. I’m spraying in a big tent, I was able to base but not clear because it getting late and bugs. Can I just clear over it in the morning? Almost I saw a tiger stripe on the roof, when I clear will it be noticeable?

News flash, bumpers don't match to the quarter panels anyway. Not even on a brand new car. Go to a dealership and see for yourself. The fact is, the bumper covers are painted separately from the steel bodies and are not baked finishes. First thing I show a customer when I have to make a bumper repair is how far off the factory match is. 95% of the time I get a dead match or much closer then the factory finish.

Is this gun the same as the SprayIt sp-33000 from California Air Tools? It looks like it. If so, it is available everywhere, and comes in some interesting kit packages. I have the kit that includes a bunch of different nozzle sizes, a similar mini-gun, and some other odds and ends.

I bought the same spray gun and use the same settings but when is spray everything comes out the fun too fast and I get runs easily. Could it be the high pressure adapters with larger openings?

I don't think that would be it. I would suggest closing you fluid knob back just a bit maybe a 1/4 turn or speeding up your passes or spraying further from the panel any one otf these will help with less clear on the panel
