Remember in grade school encyclopedia or dictionary for word magic it had picture of DD. "New York magician DD doing his style of close-up magic known as card magic."
Very first appearance I saw of Dingle on Late Night withTOM Snyder (70's) on a 2 part Magic Night. Derek performed the "matrix with the kicker which didn't get me too bad because I was making my way thru the HARDBOUND BoBo's Coin Magic. Then he fried me with Card Warp and I ordered it PRONTO from Tannens. Rehearsed and rehearsed for a week before I dared do it in public for a 10 yr old boy next door...did it flawlessly. When I finished, he just looked me straight in the eye and said"All you did was tear a card half in two and fold half one way and half the other way..." Never did the trick again until (years later) I read the $bill handling and it killed every time. Then after a performance at the Outback (steakhouse) a man and his son came into O'Charley's the following morning and pulled a torn card out of his pocket and said we finally figured out one of your tricks...I gave them a high five for their work and fooled them with something else. I've searched RU-vid for that program and haven't found it as yet.
I knew Derrick towards the end of his life. I've seen him do tricks right into my hands and watched him closely. Never saw a thing. Note: I am not a magician.
The coin stuff was pretty weak I don’t understand why he says it was so “powerful” The red to blue deck switch was really good yes; but both those coin routines they showed from the same performance were just bad. The technique was ok, but the presentation was kinda lame, for all 3 clips imho. Idk I hear we get a lot from Dingle, people have nothing but good stuff to say about him, but these clips didn’t really play to that…
Omg and the routine at 21:00 ? I can’t believe this guy has as much a rep as he does smh I know I’m saying this stuff like half-way thru, so I’ll wait to leave any more comments until the podcast ends.
