Nobody is telling you this, but... Short answer guys; You shouldn't get any of those magnetic stands...because magnets don't work properly through cases. If you have any type of case on your tablet to protect it's screen and body, which most users have (this goes for any tablet, any manufacturer), and you think you can use a magnetic stand, it won't hold properly, and you'll most likely just brick your device (it'll fall off and get damaged). There you have it. If you don't have a case on your tablet though, I personally would get the Lab22 Infinity stand (shown in this video, but I've also seen it around for a while before watching this). That one is solid in build quality, sturdiness, and functionality. It's $200 though. So it's way overpriced. It's up to you. If you just want to dabble in using a stand, I'd recommend something simpler: Something from Ugreen for example, between $10 and $30. You get a sturdy aluminium stand with adjustable angles for that price. Clean look too. No magnets there of course. Just aluminium, hooks and cushions, and it doesn't matter if you have a case on your tablet for those non-magnetic setups. They hold it in place firmly.
Can you fit a Mac mini in between the two legs that hold the iPad up on the Lab22 stand? Or if you don’t have a Mac mini, is the gap between those legs equal to or wider than 197mm?
I don’t understand why none of these have a smart connector for power. Like all I want is a stand where I plug in the charger at the base and I can attach the iPad to the stand to charge it like the Magic Keyboard
They were talking about this on the Vergecast podcast recently. Their theory was that it’s some kind of compatibility limitation with the Smart Connector on the back of the iPad. I hear you though, it’s something I’d love too.
Hi, do you know of any ipad stands which can have their height adjusted higher than 17 in? I have very low vision and, with 17 in, height, I still end up with a bad back posture. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!
You could try the KUXIU X36 IPad Foldable Magnetic Stand but there are no dimensions on their site and I’ve never actually used one so can’t recommend as such. Alternatively, you could get the CharJenPro VESA mount and attach it to a 17 inch arm.
At the time I ordered it was a Kickstarter but they do ship internationally on the official site. You just have to be wary of the potential for duty fees.
