The Best Marching band for their age (8-11)! Noda Marching Band Club 2003 

I was part of an exhibition tour with my fairly well-known college marching band fully expecting that we were going to be the ones doin the schooling. Little did I know how serious the Japanese take their marching! The performance quality of even the Jr. highs and elementary schools would make any decent high school marching band in the U.S. jealous. I was truly blown away and humbled by their hard work and dedication. By the way, the elementary school bands were so freakin kawaii!!

As a japanese kid, we have our own freedom to choice what kind of club we join, what types of activities we want to involve with and..Our parents NEVER EVER force us! NEVER!! There's no big deal about forcing a kid .Instead ,they give us their moral support and caring like every parents do. In return we just work so hard to show them our appreciation.Actuallyin japan,we start studying musicfrom kindergarten(3 yrs old.we learn (pianica(small piano) ,small flute, drums,harmonica and music cords.

I'm showing this to my section on Monday practice they will piss there pants and probably cry that 8-11 year olds are better than us

this is better than most of the high schools i've competed against and look at their cg it's pretty clean their front ensemble and drum line God bless

I was lucky enough to perform in Japan and watch some of these bands in action. It's pretty much school, band practice, sleep, repeat.

AMAZING for their ages, they are playing the song better than when I was in middle school concert band. I am pretty sure with some extra work, they'd be able to beat some high school marching bands if they were able to do this kind of thing with a more complicated song than Pictures at an Exhibition.

Check out Jenison High School's BOA prelim show for 2011. Look under Jenison Band, Bands of America Grand National Prelam performance. Their Tempest's Fury 2011 show and Broken Arrow's Zo show for 2010, are the most entertaining marching band shows I have seen.

This was my freshman year show in marching band at the high school level and these kids did it better then us!

its insane alone that they're playing a piece that changes from 5/4 to 6/4 practically every measure

theres a traditional marching style elememtry school band here in georgia i see them at the parades everytime, they rock! they try to battle us everytime we're near cause we're the supposed "baddest band in the land" of our high schools, i keep meaning to take a vid of them!!!

These kids can hang with good high school bands and they're just in grade school!?!? I can't even begin to believe their skill level. I loved the movement at 3:47 to that build-up to the long company front...this style of "eye-catching animation" is done very well by these schools. It's as though all of their formations just "pop" at you for that split-second, then organized chaos until the next "pop".

If I was in that audience I would have cheered my butt off!! lol they were AMAZING!! Im pretty sure they really beat every band in America...no joke :)

Its hard to find a good group of colour gaurd until you watch college groups but this...just unbelievable.

My band consists of high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. WHY CAN'T OUR BAND AND GUARD BE THIS GOOD?! IT'S LIKE WE'RE A BAND OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL KIDS, ESPECIALLY COMPARED TO THIS BAND!!! (No pun intended)

Better then some highschool bands I bet. Indoor marching bands also seem like a good idea too

@simplemindize if i could have picked up and instrument at 3 and march in elementary school, my life would be different lol. some of these kids are better sounding then alot of highschool bands. just,...... wow. mind = blown makes me proud to be in band

@beastdrummer555 Yay! It was my favorite piece to play in seventh grade! I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard!

They're 3/4 tubas. Not contrabasses, Contrabasses are pitched in the key of G. Also they're 2 valved. 3/4 tubas are a lot smaller and easier than regular tubas.

I know what you're saying, I know they did really good, but I thought it was just stupid that everyone was saying that this marching band of 8-11 yr. olds could beat "80% of drumlines in competition" because they do traditional. I was just pointing out that 80% of drumlines COULD beat them, and the 20% couldn't. Just sayin'.
