Played paintball in the early 2000's and still like to randomly check up on the state of the game. Awesome to see the Proflex is still used that much, think my bright blue one is kicking around in a storage bin at a buddies house somewhere. Definition of if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Thanks for the video! I've been wearing i4's for over a decade for the weight but have been looking at the Zero. It was nice to see the features more in depth.
The Zero is, far and away, the best mask I've ever worn. I've been through i4s and i5s, Proflexes, Unites, and even a Sheridan Skull way back when. Only the Proflex is comparable in breathability. The rest don't even register on the same list.
I'm still rocking the JT Spectras/ProFlex, they are my favorite. Whatever the formulation of the foam they use, it never irritates my skin. I have had issues with other brands doing that, never with the JT Spectra/Proflex's.
i'm still using my 8+yr old Empire Helix. it's solid and has a thermal lense for only like $40-50. i plan on upgrading to a CRBN Carbon Zero before next season gets ripping
@@PaintballRuinedMyLife yea, saving mine as a spare. Just got a super hot deal and was able to snag a CRBN Zero Pro (blood) from lonewolf for $130, which is insane considering that the case and spare lense come out to about $60 total on their own. Now we wait for delivery like a kid waiting for Santa
Used to run an I5. Got told to try a JT and didn't look back. Wore it once after about a year after using the JT and thought I was dying from a lack of air. Crazy the difference. You forgot to mention the 2nd hand JT market puts them into the high price bracket lol.
Love these product comparison/suggestion videos. Gives me ideas of entry level stuff I can suggest to new players. Also food for thought for when I'm ready to drop money on an upgrade. Thanks! 👍
In describing how ventilation ports are important you forgot to add aural feedback when yelling to teammates. I find that to be number one on the list. The Proflex is the most breathable of any mask on the market. It AMAZES me why there isn't more ventilation on high-end masks, other than the Carbon. Having a lightweight mask feels more comfortable, too.
Unpopular opinion - the proflex is extremely overrated. It has no modern features, mouth shots suck , ear shots suck , lens changes are a pain , can't change foam and coverage isn't that great. So many better options out there
part of the reason why i like them is because they resemble airsoft and ski googles. Some people prefer old school looks rather than sci fi newer masks. You see a proflex and know immediately its for extreme sports.
I’ve worn the Zero pretty much since it was released, I haven’t really noticed anything different for any other mask. While flexible I don’t think they are flexible enough to make it hurt or anything.
@SuperBubba360 I have a team mate that uses the Crbn, he took a mean shot to the lip. Might have just been bad timing though, he was yelling when he got hit.
i got an hk goggle strap pad for my carbon sld and its super comfortable! Dosent have the ratchet obviously but the extra pad on the back definitely helps!
the e-flex was an awesome mask. events lens with proflex bottom. loved those the grillz isn't bad either. wasn't excited when we got sponsored by GI and HAD to wear them, but it grew on me
Ive never had a problem with my Dye I5 and I play in humid and hot Florida weather. Never fogged on me once. I have used lots of masks but the one I will always choose over everything else is my Dye mask. Buy once, cry once. You get what you pay for. It just fits my preferences.
I know my JT Prime is a single pane lens. I like how the DYE looks and the Virtue masks look they just c9me up short on my face and I like my chin and ears covered ! CRBN is a great mask the bottom is just real flexible and really expensive ! That's why I love my SLR it's a little stiffer on the bottom than the CRBN. And I got the mask and the hard case for less than the CRBN mask fantastic review Brad
For the best and i mean hands down best lenz cleaner i jave ever found is a foaming glass cleaner calls BON AMI. The oil residue thats usually left somewhat on them when field cleaning is complete gone with no scrubbing or multiple cleanings just initial clean then a quick spray and wipe and 100% squeaky clean. And for the spray can being 560g for well under $10 this stuff last a very long time. Try it out thank me later because everyone ive introduced this stuff to has never gone back to using anything else
The proflex has gotten me all cut up a few times in the colder weather due to paintball shell shards getting through all that good ventilation. No more proflex for me. Dye i4 been good to me all around but might take a look at the carbon. Thanks for all the info bud.
Im currently using a proflex and i love it its light, super breathable coming from dye i5 i just couldn't breathe in it because of my beard the flex sits off your face and when its comes to lens change its not a big deal because i never really change my lens unless im popping in a new one . I wish i would have tried on a proflex a long time ago instead of wasting money on the other masks
7:11 I now wear surgical gloves to change lenses on my JT proflex, because otherwise it will be marked up with my fingerprints. It takes a lot of swearing to get that lens in with all the tabs clicked into place properly. I bought a JT proflex X and holy shit, it is night and day changing lenses vs the original proflex.
The proflex also bends when your shouldering something with a stock that i like when useing a magfed gas though stock and you can fold it up to have a smoke lol
just got my carbon sld in the mail today and i got an hk goggle strap pad for the back. it was a little tricky to get the pad on but damn is it comfortable!
Still use my old E vents I bought in 06. There’s a reason they still make lenses for it. Still my mask to this day over my almost as old i3. Other than colors, I don’t see much difference between then and now
Its fake. Its actually blue, made it red to look better for the thumbnail. Was way to much blue in the photo. Im hoping for a Profiler 2.0 in about a month....
My EVS is still my favorite mask ever. Its so damn good, especially for glasses. The Empire Helix is okay, but the foam is really bad imo, especially compared to the Tippman Intrepid masks.
Thanks for the video! Thinking I'm going to give the Zero Pro a try -- been playing with an i4. Question: You mentioned having a video inside your Zero mask. Got an install video? (Or is the video from 4 yrs ago still the best on this topic?) I planned to do the same... Thanks @PaintballRuinedMyLife
About the Carbon Zero Pro. I saw it comes with a clear lens. But the lens in the mask is that colour tinted ie if it's blue, you see blue ? Or is it like a pair of sunglasses??
DYE SE 50$ thermal lens good vents good ear ports great mask overall for starters and intermediate users what i dont get as more you get into paintball the smaller your mask gets lol why is that ive been paintballing for 9 years i dont get the tiny masks some of these guys wear they cost 200 bucks and cover 1/3 of your face. your chins sticking out of them etc. you have to wear a bandana to not get forhead shots etc. why lol.
all good choices, though im suprised virtue didnt make the cut in mid or high end? also ive been using the proflex x for awhile now and its not the most comfortable but the fact that i can get my lense out quick is so worth it
