It was so fun in X1 that you could use different weapons to interact with the bosses (like cutting Flame Mammoth's nose as shown in the video), it's a shame that this concept wasn't explored more in the sequels. Also the fact that after completing certain stages you could change the layout of certain levels (e.g. after completing Storm Eagle stage his craft crashes on Spark Mandril's stage, making the lights go out).

2:10 spark mandrill also has a syndrome named after him. Spark Mandrill syndrome is basically the boss looping an easy and exploitable pattern every time a boss with spark mandrill syndrome gets hit by its weakness 16:31 hey birds are cool

Overdrive Ostrich's secret weakness is the weapon you get from defeating Dr Wily Coyote.

"Wheel gator is a crocodile!" Ngl that bothered me more than it should lmao. Anyways, I can get behind most of these picks, as a lot of them are probably my 2nd/3rd picks. •X1- Honestly all 8 are pretty memorable but I think Octopus got a little undersold. He also has something like Flame Mammoth where boomerang cutter can remove his tentacles which really swings the fight in your favor. He's also probably the most campy of the lot, considering he does a "you're going down" gesture at the start, and in MHX he's like if Squidward was a death bot since he talks about being recognized as an "artist" in underwater combat. I just like expressive characters like that. •X2- Centipede is actually really cool with a dynamic fight since there's the whole ability stealing thing. You can remove his tail but he can also get it back if he gets a hold of you and also steals an ability of yours. Its almost like you're fighting another version of yourself since you're also an ability copying robot. •X3- Not really a fan of this game at all tbh, but ig Seahorse just because of the liquid phasing aspect. •X4- Dragoon. Nothing else to be said. •X5- I hate his fight but Spiral Pegasus is probably the best boss here. Having a Repliforce remnant really helps keep the game's story interconnected, and its also kinda sad seeing a broken (horse)man ready to lay their life down in the name of revenge for their framed leaders. •X6- Hate his stage and name but Metal Shark Player is actually pretty metal (pun intended). Dude "swims" in junkyard which is comparable to one of us being able to maneuver through a ball pit of corpses. He also has necromantic abilities by being able to summon past bosses as attacks of his, and X can somewhat replicate this himself by summoning an armada of Storm Eagles when he charges the weapon. Everything about the boss is sick when you let it sink in. •X7- Stonekong being a crusader monke is cool and all, but having a maverick OTHER than Vile fight you with their own ride armor is pretty sick. Its also funny thinking of how Gungaroon is a literal child and how Axl waltzes in and just pulls a glock on the kid lol. •X8- I like bosses with personality, and when Rooster's entrance is literally kicking a machine till it works before he fights you, I'd say it establishes himself REAL well.

X1 is possible one of the most perfect games ever made

Interesting tidbit on frost walrus. He was the only maverick across all the megaman x mangas to defeat X and he did it twice. He'll in the second fight X was in a ride armor and walrus tore him a new one. Took general himself coming to the scene to take down walrus, which general regrets hiring (walrus was already labeled a maverick in lore but was granted amnesty by repliforce.....which walrus abused once he got settled into his base)

When you were talking about (not) playing Mega Man X without the dash, I could only think of HideofBeast's classic minimalist, no dash, no damage run. I then realized that was over ten years ago, and I felt very old.

I love that your seal of approval on any given enemy in these videos is calling them cool and offering them chocolate milk. Then again, who doesn't like chocolate milk?

You can also cut off Launch Octopus's arms with the boomerang cutter. He won't be able to do his drain attack or launch the larger homing missiles. Also in X2, killing Wire Sponge with an uncharged sonic slicer shot changes his death animation. It's a pretty cool detail.

Crush Crawfish's music also sounds strangely similar to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle theme from the first NES game.

I never start with Chill Penguin in the first game, for one simple reason: Completing his level removes the fire hazards from Flame Mammoth's level, and I want to feel like I'm making my way to a fire boss, so I go after him first, then Chill Penguin, which is fine, since Fire Wave's his weakness and you need it to get the Heart Tank in his level.

Burn Rooster is just an upgraded version of one of my favorate enemies in Mega Man 2... The Atomic Chicken.

X4 was always my favorite. If you do another OG Megaman video maybe you can do a top ten on the best Sniper Joe in the series. I always felt he was like Hydra Bob in that he was the one henchman that could never quit get to Boss status but shows up anyway everywhere there is a job. Got to love his persistence.

I think Mega Man X4 has the strongest lineup of Mavericks, with Storm Owl being a much stronger Storm Eagle when you consider how hard his boss fight is without his weakness. As for Tornado Tonion, well... To quote The Quarter Guy, "HE'S JUST AN ONION! HE'S JUST AN ONION! HE'S JUST AN ONIOOOOOOOON!"

Glad he finally did an X series episode! Honestly, the first 3 are really the only ones worth a damn in my opinion but it’s a breath of fresh air to see him switch it up. Maybe combine both series to drop a best of the best list…..after he reviews all the Gameboy and Gameboy advance games anyhow lol

I'm basically going for Storm Eagle, Flame Stag, Gravity Beetle, Magma Dragoon, Duff McWhalen (heck, he's the only one in X5 where I prefer the old English localisation name), Rainy Turtloid, Snipe Anteator, and Burn Rooster as the big favorites from each main installment.

I thought the pool of blood you fight Wheel Gator in was the scariest/ coolest thing when I was a kid.... honestly that opinion hasn't really changed, fighting a killer robot alligator in a pool of blood is just so *Metal* .... pun intended 😂

Interesting choices. Can't say I disagree with much on this list, save that Wheel Gator is the first Maverick I take out in Mega Man X2 because the Spin Wheel is needed for 2 of the 4 armor upgrades and makes Bubble Crab a walk in the park.

Only now Watching this video I realized how top tier X2 bosses are. Like, most of them could compete for best one and with good reasoning rather than "most suck, here's the least terrible one". Since I adore the concept of buffs and debuffs, the way that Magna Centipede takes your skills away is too cool for him not to have him as number 1

Some interesting choices. Was expecting Magma Dragoon and Commander Yanmark.

You should really look up the backstory to Shield Sheldon; it's actually pretty interesting. He was a bodyguard and the person he was protecting was killed, so he took his own life. I don't say this to say suicide is cool, but it's interesting that given reploids have such an advanced brain that it kind of overrides the robot preservation thing.

The same thing about having an epic black hole weakness for Blast Hornet can also be said for Jewel Man who is also very very COOL! Too bad it wasn't Hornet Man who was weak to the Black Hole Bomb for an epic case of 8-bit déjà vu!

Hey, now...I played Megaman X with a run-through that includes taking down Chill Pinguin last. Yes....I did beat Spark Mandrill first (and went "Boss Weakness" order), which is extremely difficult in my opinion.

I respect your opinion on each of them, but here my favorite Mavericks from each game: MMX1 - Storm Eagle MMX2 - Overdrive Ostrich MMX3 - Still undecided MMX4 - Storm Owl MMX5 - Squid Adler MMX6 - Commander Yammark MMX7- Vanishing Gungaroo MMX8 - Gravity Antonion

I love boomer kuwanger solely for the fact that every time i beat a boss i would try to beat him, and while it started to get sickening, when i took him on last before the first sigma stage, it was so satisfying to beat. and kuwanger was the only one for me to actually be a consistently fun fight.

This is the first time I've heard someone say that the Ultimate Armor is underwhelming. I'd argue the Leg Parts for the Falcon Armor is the best in X5. It lets you FLY and makes platforming a joke.

Wait... why do people fight Wire Sponge first in X2? I do that guy last. I start with Wheel Gater. That weapon opens secrets on other levels so it makes sense to get it first, especially when the order becomes unpredictable once the X-Hunters come around.

For me: X1: Storm Eagle and Armored Armadillo X2: Flame Stag X3: I'm kinda so-so with all of them. None I particularly dislike but none I love either. A part of me wants to say Gravity Beetle, though, due to the X3 intro for him on the PSX. Also Megaman X3 was the first PSX MMX game, not X4. X4: As a kid, Magma Dragoon. As of now, Storm Owl and Cyber Peacock X5: Crescent Grizzly or Dark Necrobat X6: Commander Yamark, although like X3 this is a default win for me. X7: I don't really care. A similar case to X3 and X6, except there isn't really anyone I could just pick. X8: Bamboo Pandamonium not only has one of my favorite stages in the series but also is my favorite maverick (At-will) in X8

The X games definitely lost something special when they left the SNES. Those first three X games are the peak of action platforming and dynamic flow. Plus great music!

Cyber Peacock is one of my favorite Maverick's. Why? Because I thought he was a girl maverick that looks pretty cool

1:22 Dr. Light or a family doctor? But tbh i like playing X1 without a dash, it kinda shows how good the level design of X1 is that it's made for both no upgrades playthrough and the upgrades one. The only stages that requiers you upgrades are giving them right before these stages with no ability to skip them. The only bosses that probably weren't intended for dash is Storm Eagle and Launch Octopus, cuz Storm Eagld got the low chance of taking you off the area with no ability to prevent that and Launch Octopus fricking spams attacks that'll throw you back and then does his spin right where you landed after taking damage. I remember how annoying it was when i took his stage first on my 1st playthrough.

my picks: X1: boomer kuwanger; he's skinny and noodly, and i like skinny and noodly X2: morph moth; he's pretty and his boss fight is easily the most fun in out of the X2 mavericks for me X3: ngl this game mostly went in one ear and out the other for me, but i do like blast hornet X4: uhhhhhhhh this one's hard, i guess it's a tie between magma dragoon(cool), split mushroom(neat), cyber peacock(femboy), jet stingray(cool), and... actually no, i can't decide X5: i really enjoy most of them, but i guess i'm gonna go with duff mcwhalen because his name is duff mcwhalen and that's perfect X6: metal shark prayer; not only is his theme the 2nd best in the game, he also has a fantastic design imo X7: aight this is gonna sound insane but there's this one video on youtube in which flame hyenard's lines are cut up and inserted into a nickelback song as if he was performing, and while i was watching it for the first time, the chorus (which i at the time thought was "fire! fire! fire! fire!" but which turned out to be OUGHs of pain) gave me such a strong impression of what he could've been like before becoming the suffering wreck we see in X7 that he instantly shot up to become my favorite maverick in the whole series. unfortunately this impression is way too abstract and subtle for me to be able to convey through words. X8: even though his stage is the worst in the entire series, gigabolt manowar is just vibing, and i adore that, plus, he has droopy eyes. these two factors make him a close second behind hyenard as my favorite mavericks in the entire series.
