Thank you very much for posting this master piece…After listening to this great message, whenever a sinful thought arises in my mind, immediately i think about my own personal death which is not far away, my own judgement before the judgement seat of Christ, my own torments in hell, death on the cross of my Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ Who shed His precious and sinless blood 🩸 for my own & finally think on my own temporal abode in heaven between my death and bodily resurrection and living in the New Earth joyfully wherein dwelleth righteousness with The Blessed Holy Trinitarian God of The Holy Bible forever and ever in eternity [Revelation Ch 21&22]…It’s very effective in my Christian walk everyday…What a great Mystery ! 🤔💖🙏🏿
@ele12957returns "As far as LS goes I do believe a believer should learn to overcome sin in their lives but many don't b/c of unbiblical teaching that results in the believer always living in shame and guilt etc" Yes, I would agree with this as well. I should know, as I was raised a Roman Catholic...lol.
Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Mat 5:29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. Would you accuse Paul and Jesus of having a "Pharisaical view of one trying to by their own efforts free themselves of sin" as well?
@ele12957returns These matters have been debated now for centuries. I believe in Lordship salvation, you do not. It seems to me we are going to have to agree to disagree on this. With that said, I do want to thank you for remaining civil in your comments. I've seen such disagreements lead to great strife between brethren, and it truly grieves my heart. May our Lord bless you abundantly.
Colossians 3:5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
@ele12957returns From "PRECIOUS REMEDIES AGAINST SATAN'S DEVICES" by Thomas Brooks: "to repent of sin is as great a mark of grace as not to sin" "to avoid the occasions of sin is an evidence of grace" "watching against, resisting and lamenting sinful thoughts evidences grace and the sincerity of our hearts" "men have nothing but what they have received, gifts as well as saving grace coming alike from Christ" "men's trusting to their parts and abilities has been their utter ruin"
@ele12957returns "The message of the gospel isn't about will power. " I agree completely. I just think that you misunderstand what Brooks believed. "It isn't about struggling to not sin, that isn't freedom." Struggling of our own will is not freedom, I do of course agree; but again, Brooks did not teach this. Luke 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate... Rom 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
@ele12957returns I think I see more clearly what you are saying here, which is that repentance is a natural result of sanctification, and therefore is always in process in a believer during his lifetime. Would this be what you are saying? If so, I agree; but it is important to remember: Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
