I kept the Glowblast Sharpshot & Lightning Hunter Bows in my regular rotation through to the endgame. Fantastic recommendations all the way around. The Piercing Arrows aren't quite strong enough to one-shot through helmets, but with the Stealth Stalker Valor Surge? At Level 3, you'll have easy kills & every kill will refill Valor as long as you stay in stealth. My favorite way to clear Rebel Camps. Looking forward to your late game weapon & outfit recommendations as there are so many different opinions online about what's worth upgrading or skipping until you get access to the Legendary stuff. Also curious to see what happens when you get to Shadow In The West in your Let's Play. I couldn't get the Whisper Hunter Bow to spawn at the Superior Supply Cache & it's driving me a little completionist OCD crazy. Hopefully it spawns for you, even though it's a weapon that nobody uses lol.

Dang! I should have mentioned using the Piercing SS Bow in combination with the Stealth Stalker VS! I can’t believe I forgot to put that in. I’m gonna pin your comment so hopefully some other people can see that tip. That’s interesting you couldn’t get the Whisper HB. I got it in my normal play through (I have a different save file from the Let’s Play one that I’m a lot further ahead in). I’ll have to see what happens when I go back in the Let’s Play. I agree that’s really annoying. I’m a completionism as well :) That happened to be with the Painted Weapon Coil in HZD. In my main save file I was never able to get it. Only got it when I went back in a NG+

@@ArktixOfficial Aww man that sucks! The Painted Weapon Coil is way more useful than a Whisper Hunter Bow lol, I'm sorry that happened to you. I guess I shouldn't be salty about my missing bow. I'm just gonna leave the cache unopened & maybe it'll fix itself later somehow. I swear - if it does spawn, I'm gonna take down an Apex Slaughterspine with it to show my appreciation lol. Btw - It looks like you gained around 100 subs in a week! Your channel is growing fast, congratulations!

Yeah at least I was able to get it in NG+ though. And it’s ok to be salty :) that’s pretty annoying. But yeah lol, totally do that if you get it. And thanks! Yeah things have picked up recently. I’ve been pretty happy with it. Hopefully people continue to find the channel and find my videos helpful.

What are the Whisper Hunter Bows stats and ammo like?

@@CaptKart97 It's a green rarity weapon. It has similar stats to the first Hunter Bow you start the game with and also a +65% Stealth Damage perk once fully upgraded if I remember correctly. I can't confirm because I...don't have it lol. 😂😭 Edit: Ammo is just regular arrows.

I love these videos. There is so much fluff out there, and you are clear, concise and informational. One example: I searched all over the internet, I did not find a mention of the spike thrower you recommended in your last video, and it is so good compared to the other mid game options. Keep up what you are doing, I have no doubt that you will quickly grow your channel.

I've been back and forth between Horizon Forbidden West and Destiny 2 which is my main game. Your videos have been the most helpful I've come across as someone who isn't soley playing HFW and definitely doesn't have the time to search out and experiment with all the weapon and armor types. I just realized how small your channel is and I am wholly impressed by the quality of your productions! I wish you nothing but continued success and growth!

@@ArktixOfficial As much as I love the Destiny universe D2 is so far into it's lifespan it's hard to recommend it to any newcomer unless they are looking for 1 full time game and have at least a few experienced people with whom to play. I would say it's the antithesis of Horizon in that while you can play solo unless you're playing in a group you're missing most of the best content. That being said if you ever did find the time to dip your toe into D2 there is a helpful free to play tutorial area where you can see if the gameplay even interests you before proceeding to purchase current and past content. If you do ever find yourself trying D2 out I'm on PS5 (there is cross play with Xbox and PC as well) and in a fairly welcoming clan. My PS gamer tag is dylcar69 if you're on PS. Your videos continue to be a stellar boot-camp for Horizon newbies and vets alike. 1) thanks for explaining how you define mid-game. So this is a mid-to-late game video. You have two videos with the same title so I got confused and didn't know you had a new one up. 2) I went with the Death-seeker for shock damage, but your recommendation makes sense. 3) Shellsnapper Video, please! I hate them so much!

Thanks Furious! **facepalm** I forgot to change the name of the video. Thank you for pointing that out. Who knows how long I would have let that sit there until I noticed lol. The thing is in the RU-vid Studio you can use a previous video as a template so you don’t have to redo the description, tags, etc, but it copies the title too and I completely forgot to rename it. It’s fixed now. Thanks again for telling me! And the Shellsnapper video is next! I’m literally working on it as we speak! I finally figured out a good strategy for them. If you want some tips now go check out the comments on my Let’s Play Part 23 video. Someone else asked about it as well and I outlined the strategy. Hopefully that can hold you over until I have the full guide up tomorrow/Sunday!

Man, I just got to Thornmarsh cause I was desperate for these purple bows and man, it didn't disappoint. As for the Need to Know quest, I suggest bagging a couple Tenakth HotWings foods that boost Silent Strike and stealthing the whole camp yourself with just that and 3 or 4 headshots, it's really satisfying

glad to see channel growing. i enjoy these and find them useful .. i've not completed game yet. i've employed the mid range weapons mentioned. and concur. i just got Lightning bow. nice to have a gaming video without someone with an "annoying" voice raising and lowering their pitch with every word. or a gaming journalist wondering if Aloy has a girlfriend. just gaming; thats all most of us normies care about.... :)

Good evening, Arctic.... first off I wanted to thank you for all your help that you provide with your guides in the work that you do when it comes to making a guides for us fellow gamers, with that being said I wanted to let you know that I did finally get my hands on the lightning bolt and the merchant outside my base did get two or three new items in there for sale and they are purple quality as well now I'm at the point of the game where I'm about to start getting all purple items, so I expect he will get some more once I progress in the game on the other side of that I wanted to give you a couple of ideas for maybe when you come back and do the builds for melee range and stealth, what I was thinking is maybe a little bit more ideas leaning towards the benefits of food and how they can help out during combat I have never really used any food just yet and last but not least if there are any bows that have any adhesive ammo types I know there is a plasma but I don't think there's any for adhesive bows.... ? 🤔

Hey glad you found that Lightning Hunter Bow! And yeah the base merchant will continue to get new items as you complete quests. He won’t get everything though, so you’ll still want to visit other merchants. Thanks for your suggestions too. I do want to do build videos and a video on food at some point. I discuss food a little bit in my outfit and weaves video if you’re looking for some tips now though 👍 There isn’t a hunter bow with adhesive arrows. The only bow that has them is the adhesive Warrior bow, and it’s not that great. Blastslings with adhesive bombs are much better, but I don’t find adhesive particularly useful, so I don’t use.

Very helpful. Yeah, I finally started the Memorial Garden/ Aether Mission after 60 hrs, and got a Tearblast, which was my go to in HZD, but on the way to meet Kotallo I got side tracked by Hunting Grounds that introduces the Plasma stuff (which isn't very satisying imo) but also makes you practice catching Shredder discs, which I do like. It's still weird that I'm so loaded with bows mostly, I've abandoned my tripcaster and ropeblaster, which was something I never did in HZD. I like Piercing Sharpshot, but gave it up for the Tearblast. Maybe I'll use it in camps. Anyway, helpful stuff, looking forward to more and Late game strats from you. *PS- Still can't get those Frost Bellowbacks to show up in that early area, but now, I've found other spots, so...

Thanks! And wow yeah you’re like me, side content all the way :) That’s interesting you say you usually carried a rope-caster and tripcaster in HZD but now you don’t. I do find myself needing more bows because of how they split up the ammo types between so many of them. Maybe that’s partially why you find yourself carrying more bows. And that’s super weird you can’t get the bellowbacks to show up. That’s pretty annoying since you need bellowback parts for upgrades. I’m glad you found them somewhere else.

Aw man! I haven’t tried that on bellowbacks. I didn’t realize easy loot wouldn’t work. I don’t generally have it on, but that’s annoying in your case where it was so hard to find them in the first place. I find freezing them is the best way to deal damage without destroying the sacs.

You can get thunderbolt shredder gauntlet right after you get the three quest for Gaia’s subordinates as well if you’re willing to fight the behemoth for its circulator. It will be at hunters shop at the tower of tears and you can fight the behemoth convoy further north of the tower. It can come really handy because it has shock ammo and you already have one of the best weapon for mid game.

Good point! Yeah that’s a great way to get it early. I’ve also discovered since making this video that you can get it for FREE by looting a chest on the dock/ship at Legacy’s Landfall. Of course, it‘s later in the game that you can get to Legacy’s Landfall, but kind cool you can get a free one. Not sure if that was added in a patch at some point. I generally search for loot everywhere and I don’t remember seeing it there on my first playthrough.

I'm not sure either. I'm surprised you can get both thunderbolt and ancestor's return really early. You can get thunderbolt as soon as mid game start and ancestor's return right after you get all three subordinates.

I just need to upgrade to at least level 2 because I'm not ready to fight Apex large machines just yet. Also I need more practice but I'm really loving how the weapon plays out, really fun to use!

Nice! Glad you’re enjoying it. If I had to pick a single favorite weapon I’d have to say it’s the Ancestor’s Return. Maybe it’s just because I’m slightly obsessed with shredders, but I just find it so versatile!

Thanks for this great video. I have been experimenting with the Piercing bow, but have found that while it does pierce armor and can crit, it does NOT hit weak spots. So in my own playtesting I noticed that it does not trigger the headshot bonus for humans (and I assume it doesn't trigger the same for machines). If you watch your own video carefully, you can see that the little headshot text pop-up doesn't appear when you hit the human enemies. It is still a great bow for humans, and if you coil it correctly (I prefer 25% Stealth) and pair it with Powershots (since Powershots can't crit anyway), you can take out a lot of humans in a row quite easily. And it doesn't matter where on their body you hit them, because you're going to get the same damage regardless.

@@ArktixOfficial I have also done a crit build with the Piercing bow which is a nice one. You can get to 90% crit rate with the Valor surge and over 100% if you use a purple bow.

Lol your frustration in not having a decent Shock weapon early on mirrors my own. It's the one element you simply don't have a decent option for until pretty late & it is indeed frustrating. I ended up just deciding not to mess with Elemental effects too much til later in the game when I started having access to Purple & Legendary gear. That's the bad part about that Lightning Hunter Bow tho as I honestly consider it to be more of a late game bow than mid game, as you REALLY have to go out of your way to get it if you're in the mid game. That's kind of how it was in the 1st game too, you couldn't truly dish out fast elemental buildup on bigger machines til the late game.

Yeah the lack of a decent shock bow early on is frustrating. At first I thought I just hadn't found one yet, but I really don't think there is one. Agreed that the Lightning HB is more of a late game bow. That's why I have it here in my mid-game upgrades video, and it will be in the late game video as well.

What's sup bro, and one of the tips and tricks guide videos that you made you mention how to set up your potions you said that you keep more cleanse and potions then health potions but I don't remember which one that is do you.... ? I'm having trouble with setting up my potions it says that it's full I tried to empty everything out and just put health potions more than cleansing but it won't let me, and it's tight frustrating.. smh

Worth noting that you don't actually get a headshot damage bonus when using Piercing Sharpshot ammo on a human enemies head. Kind of sucks honestly, but still useful of course. Is going to still do more damage than hitting armor.

I think they could have streamlined the elemental aspect a bit better so u could just find and upgrade the elemental part and add them to just 1 bow, instead of having 1 seperate bow for each element.

Ah yeah...I don't like how many different bows you need to have access to different elements either. It would be great to be able to build our own bows by adding our preferred ammo types to them.

Exactly yeah. At the very least, we should be able to disable/hide some of ammo types we don't use. Like please, let me turn of the tracking arrows on the Death Seeker and Tears of the Land God that I will literally never use lol

Oh no you don’t need to do Seeds of the Past. The quest that gives it to you is called Need To Know. To unlock Need To Know, you need to have done the Burning Blooms side quest and then have completed The Broken Sky main quest. Hope that helps!

Okay I have done the burning bloom and I just done the broken sky quest today so I'll head over to the desert to see if she's there waiting for me in order to continue on with the need to know side quest also I was wondering when the merchant outside the base will get the new gear items to sell like that purple Nora suit that you suggested as well, I'll head over there and check if he has those as well after I check for telana.

Sounds good! In general, the base merchant will start to get new gear a little after you discover it at other locations.

good stuff man. I gotta say tearblast has been nerfed and costs way too much to craft..better off using advanced hunter arrows to tear off components...also: delta sharpshot bow has a 40% stealth damage bonus built in, has advanced precision arrows...and you can get a free hunter bow from doing the salvage contracts in the desert and it is great - sunshot hunter bow...my favorite bows currently in the game. oh...and plasma sucks, you are better going with freeze or acid followed by impact or explosive damage...just my opinion

IMO Unless you want to use your Valor Surge for other things, the Part Breaker is a good alternative as well. I have the Death Seeker and Triple Notching gets the job done also. I like using plasma from time to time.

@hank scorpion good points. I think you’re right that, long term, you’ll want to use advanced hunter arrows on a high level bow to tear off components. Definitely cheaper to craft those than tearblast. Your totally right about that. I guess my thought with suggesting the Glowblast here was that it’s a good bow to use for tear until you can get a higher level bow that gives you a lot of tear damage in advanced hunter arrows. Thanks for bringing up the Sunshot Hunter Bow too! I really like that one as well and I went back and forth about recommending it in this video. Maybe I should have mentioned it :/ My hesitation with it for this video was I think a lot of people would struggle to complete the salvage contracts (especially the final one) to get that bow in the “mid game”. I’m thinking I’ll cover the Sunshot in the next gear video (late game). Totally agree with you on plasma too. Freeze and acid are way better. It’s kinda a shame because the plasma explosion is a cool mechanic, it’s just too weak. I hope they buff it some day so it’s more fun.

Honestly, I always felt like Shock doest last nearly long enough to make it worthwhile. What does it last, like 10 seconds? It's VERY short, around the same as a Knockdown if I'm not mistaken. Meaning I'd rather just knock machines down than inflict Shock most of the time. My aim is also really good when using Gyro controls, so I have no trouble hitting weak spots anyway. I agree tho that it is very crappy that you don't get a good Shock Bow til the late game, as the Need to Know sidequest is indeed a late game sidequest.

Yeah I agree, Plasma is a bit underwhelming. The only spots I see it being handy is against VERY heavily armored foes with very small weakpoints such as the Shellsnappers and such. It can help to simply build up Plasma & be sure to fill the meter all the way while it's affected by it so the blast is as big as possible, and let that take a big chunk of it's lifebar. I think that one Hunters Lodge trial dealing with Plasma on a Rollerback was kind of training you for that idea.p But even in that case, the damage really isn't as big as it should be. There could be another component at work, as I'm not sure if it's just the meter that affects the damage, as the game does say that the more damage you inflict during the status effect, the more powerful the blast will be. I don't know if that truly means that the blast could be SUPER damaging if you're able to cause a ton of damage during the status effect or not. Would be nice to know if that's the case or not. Some testing could be in order for this.

I've done some experimentation and I'm pretty sure dealing damage beyond the meter filling up doesn't do anything. So yeah, I'd like to see the explosion be larger, or maybe make the meter bigger so we can make the explosion more powerful if we want to.

@@ArktixOfficial Well I just meant that the meter doesn't seem to be directly tied to the exact damage numbers you do, at least not based on what I saw in my admittedly VERY short time using Plasma. Using Plasma damage to build up the meter seems to rise it far faster than just trying to inflict regular damage. Not sure what that's about, was partly why I was wondering if it's not just the size of the blast that can be affected but also it's damage potency, and if that potency is somehow directly tied to the damage you do while building up that blast meter.

Personally plasma feels… kinda underpowered? It’s nice to have it in your pocket for when a machine has a glowblast canister to detonate it for a bit of extra damage, but I wouldn’t use it for buildup. Now that I think about it, it kinda makes sense that it’s on a sharp shot bow. It’s just there to land that blow on the canister, not to hit the machine over and over to build up plasma

Yeah agreed. It’s definitely underpowered. Like you said, I think the best use is for triggering plasma canisters if a machine has them. I hope they consider buffing the explosion mechanic someday. If it were a little stronger I think it could be fun and useful. I’d be ok with it taking more shots to build up the explosive damage, but that explosion needs to be stronger!

@@ArktixOfficial I was just about the comment this. It only feels useful for that burst elemental cannister explosion damage. Also the fact that the ammo is on a sharpshot bow doesn't help as it's too slow to use during active combat while you're trying to trigger plasma cannisters.

Yeah I totally agree. I find I don’t really even try to hit plasma canisters that often because I can’t reload fast enough on a sharpshot bow. I’ve tried modding a sharpshot bow to load/draw faster, but it still feels too slow for me. I always just end up using some other elemental ammo or dealing damage some other way.

Honestly, THE most important thing ANYONE can do when playing thus game is to learn the game's basic mechanics! I cannot begin to tell you how many RU-vid streamers I have watched who don't even understand the basics & do things like trying to do things like using Elemental ammo for damage, firing one shot from an elemental ammo type then switching to another before even inflicting the Elemental status, etc. If you're just starting out, do yourself a favor & take just 5-10 minutes to read thru the tutorial pages in the Notebook section of the menu! Simply knowing how to play the game properly is more important than any weapon or armor combo & will make you a far better player in the longrun! You also won't look like a fool like literally 90% of the players who post on RU-vid do... You can tell that most of them never bothered to learn even the most basic game mechanics.

Yeah I’ll be doing the purgewater video soon. And I should definitely utilize focused shot more. I just really like braced shot and I find it awkward to switch weapon techniques mid fight.

You need to visit Talanah outside Thornmarsh after completing the Burning Blooms. The quest menu should show you were to go if you make the quest active.
