Glad you're feeling the same about performance (3.39), a review shouldn't or doesn't have to be about benchmarks etc, it helps me no further... And glad to have found a review in proper English as well, thanks a million!👍🏼
Sub earned! Love your sentiment, mine exactly - anything in the past couple years works great for everyday tasks! I've been a moto lover for years, but the cameras have been blah. If they've fixed it, GAME ON! LOVE Moto gestures, chop, 144hz, 68+ watt fast charging, etc.....
I haven’t owned an Android device in nearly a decade. Back then they were still very glitchy and mine was no exception. I’m assuming all those things are in the past, but I’ve also grown so accustomed to the iPhone. Great review!
I just order it and i can't wait to use it because i have a very old phone so its very good time to change my phone and i like the curve display thanks to you i can finally buy a new one.
great review. you got yourself a new subscriber! I'm exactly the same type of user and I agree with you, mid range phones are very good. as long term motorola user , the only issue and I'm not sure about their support. it was a mess with the edge 30 ultra and 40 pro. Don't know how will they fare this time but don't expect much improvement, they hace huge delays delivering new software updates or fixing issues. If you don't care about any of this you'll be fine.
Will you be reviewing the Edge 50 Ultra? I've taken a punt on one from Motorola UK which has it priced at £849.99 with free pair of Moto Buds Plus, and a free one year's screen damage cover. In a recent Motorola UK's spin game I won a 15% discount on any purchase, so Edge 50 Ultra is costing me £722.49.
If you're talking about Pantone, the colours company, it's pronounced how you see it: Pan (as in frying), Tone (as in musical note). Also, I hadn't noticed you waving phones about, but now I can't unsee it.
I can definetly understand that sentiment now... I had a Moto G2 for a short time, the charging entrance of the phone broke, and thus i had to switch it because it was impossible to charge the phone. But for the short time i used it, it was slow, laggy, in a few months i could few myself not being able to use it because of how slow it was. So around 2018 or something like that, i switched the Moto G2 for the Moto G5. In the begining it felt great! Had more than double the RAM (Moto G2 had like 512MB RAM and the Moto G5 has 2GB) But now The moto G5 is Unusable... the Keyboard itself is an app, so when you open the Keyboard on another app, it lags everything, because it can't handle both things open at the same time. (Just Android alone takes 800MB of RAM, so everything that uses a keyboard is doomed because there is no RAM to spare) Now i got an Moto G7. Still Old. Still only has 4GB of RAM. But now it can run everything comfortably. It does lag in some ocasions or another... but i can play games on it. I can write messages without needing to wait 3 seconds for each letter i touch to actually register and appear in the message (which is just an average, but not really far from my experience with the moto G5 nowadays) So yeah, i can see how the past few years of "modern smartphones" doesn't feel that different from each other anymore, when they have more than 8GB of RAM and the processors are good, and the Storage system like eMMC or UFS are nowadays better there's really no real bottleneck anymore for most tasks. The only thing now that i'm considering before upgrading my phone is to wait for a new midranger that already starts at Android 15, so it can have a longer longevity with the updates... Android 14 is already coming to the end of it's life cycle, so I'm going to wait for the Android 15 to trickle down to the midrangers before buying a new phone, (Since Motorola is really bad at updating their OS, just like 2 or 3 updates and then you're left behind) I guess anything with more than 50% power than my current phone is good enough for nowadays.
This is a good phone for sure but I think a better bet is picking up a s23 ultra from last year for about the same money as much better phone and Moto have a sketch record with software updates. So the s23 ultra will get longer updates.
I highly recommend to try the Lenovo's DEX model. The wireless connection to a smart tv in my G84 is far more reliable and faster than my Fold 5. One is cost 380AUD, one is Cost 2500 Aud. Sure, the OS update support isn't as long as Pixel and samsung, but the cost is just right fir Moto.
Had mine in black for 2 months excellent for price got it from voxi £379. I do find the curved screen annoying if I'm gripping it sometimes it wont do anything. Also it gets super hot when it's charging!!! But for price it's a great fone.
At the £600 UK release price, no, it shouldn't be on your shortlist - or at least, respectfully, not until Motorola sort out some needed fixes and bring the price in line with how Motorola positioned the phone in other markets, if they ever do - - issues which unfortunately, apparently, haven't been sorted out with the latest firmware/software patch release. For instance, a lot of reviews have picked up on dropped frames when shooting in 4K, especially noticeable when panning, if you want fluidly smooth, look elsewhere for now, along with other issues. I'm a big Motorola fan and new phones come off the production line so quickly, it's hard for companies to keep up with firmware/software patches, just that unfortunately Motorola have a poor reputation for timely patches/fixes, though I note that Motorola they have issued a statement that they intend to improve on that. Is that good enough? I would wait and see. Meantime, if Motorola insist on sticking to the EU/UK release price, there are a lot of phones to consider at this price point, and far less, that give you better bang for your buck, depending on how you cherry pick! For instance, cameras are the important one, for me.
To all those people complaining about 500+MB storage capacity and yet most of us have access to cloud services via google drive etc. 500mb is already way enough.
It's most likely youtubes compression, but I like these Photos more than pretty much any of the photos I've seen in reviews of iPhone or something like Huawei Pura 70 Ultra...
While I agree the updates are poor, having used a Xiaomi redmi 11g pro for a few years now I'd rather have poor updates excellent OS from Motorola than this piece of shit OS on redmi phones. Can't speak for other brands, more than that I don't like Samsungs looks either
@@KungKokkos Same. Whilst Motos OS updates aren't that great (security updates are good) I would still rather use a Moto over a Samsung or a phone from a Chinese OEM with a horrible iOS style skin
@@Gnostic777The moto g52 got android 13 only after 16 months after android 13 was released and it's just a stock android. nowdays android phones with heavy UI's got updates quicker.
@@___Amal_ And how different is android 13 from Android 12? Not very by the looks of it. If you care that much about OS updates then go buy a Pixel. Not many people care to be fair.
Please don't talk about ram boost, it's not a good feature, that is just swap memory and depending on the swappiness they set the phone to have it could make performance worse, better turn it off.
Please, can you tell me if the Edge 50 Pro is dual sim and, in that case, are both sim card slots for physical SIM card? I find it very confusing when I read "Dual SIM (pSIM + eSIM"). Many thanks!
I’d love this phone, but but but! I want the increased storage but don’t want all the other stuff that goes with it. You didn’t mention which code for Bluetooth it has on it, how do you listen to lossless audio on it? Seriously, I’ve always been an apple guy, and can’t believe I’m seriously thinking of changing. I’m likely to be upgrading my phone before Christmas this year, so I am genuinely thinking of changing to android. I’m totally blind, and Apple used to be miles ahead with speech accessibility on phones but apparently no more. As my new Apple phone is likely to cost somewhere around £1500, I’m seriously looking at an alternative. I have a Motorola android phone and I’m going to play with it intensively over the next few weeks and months. It’s a cheap one, but that shouldn’t detract too much from the overall experience. Lossless audio on my phone, that would be absolutely wonderful. Great Review Mark! Back to your normal standard.
The ultra may be different than the US version like last years 40 pro had a 4600mah battery and the edge 2023 plus had a 5100 mah battery...i wanna see whats different in the phones when the other versions are released😊
I am not really attracted by the Motorola brand, I currently own an Iphone 13 of 2022 and I am in a huge dilemma: do I buy the new iphone 16, the new pixel 9 pro or the new nothing 2a plus?!!
