I don't have a candy themometer, so I just cook the caramel filling for 14 minutes (as indicated in writte recipe) once it has started to simmer/boil. Works every time.
Not even vegan but I’m here for Lauren and her recipes. I remember watching hot for food vids 7 years ago and rediscovering this channel has been so nostalgic.
Your cooking videos are the best!! You take the time to show all the steps and intricacies for baking and cooking, (without all kinds of yakking about personal stuff). Thank you. This recipe looks so yummy!! Will make!!
Just one tip to avoid lots of open coconut cream cans. If you put them in the fridge over night the whole can should be filled with creamy thick cream. Thank you for the recipe, looking forward to doing them!! ❤
This won’t work because the watery part does get creamy when cold, but its just the temperature change. It doesnt actually transform the whole can into cream. So it will revert back when it goes into the oven. Therefore it’s best to use straight up coconut cream or only the solid parts of a room temperature can of milk.
This was so good! I'm going to try this again today, and wondering what I can do to keep the ganache from sinking into the caramel so that it spreads evenly. Maybe I didn't cook the caramel long enough, but it definitely set for almost 30 minutes
I'm thinking you didn't cook the caramel long enough or you didn't get it cool enough. To be safe, put it in the fridge I guess until when you touch it your finger can't sink in it easily.
Thank you for this! Do you think a GF all purpose flour wound work with this recipe. Damn the gluten intolerance :( Hope I get to try this cause it looks delectable!
Unique dessert, I'll give it a shot this year thank you! Also, I really don't think you're promoting dairy. Ive been a vegan 8 years and people go so far out if their way to try to be open to my values and accomodate my diet, I think it's only fair and respectful to do the same for omnivores. It can be really hard, but teating people that way really makes a difference in their openness to understand veganism 💜
She's got over 400 vegan recipe videos that she worked her rear off to make. You get all in your feelings because she mentioned butter one time?! Where are your 400 recipe videos recreating all the best foods that are not vegan? Lauren actually does great work in this world. Her artichoke spinach dip has been a huge hit at my family functions. I'm the ONLY vegan at my family functions, they all love the vegan food I make from this channel. Look at the big picture and stop not picking.
@@jamie9663 I’m not oblivious to her amazing work. I prefaced my comment with appreciation for her usual content. My downvote only applies to this video and not her channel as a whole. Does that make sense?
Well I guess when I heard her say butter I looked in the comments for her explanation because I knew someone would say something about it. She clearly already responded to this question and said this video was made for a Canadian channel that was for mostly non vegans. She said she tried to edit everything out of this video but overlooked that one suggestion of butter or she would have edited that out too. People aren't perfect. You can tell she tries, I'm sure she didn't feel like typing that response out to everyone who asked why she said butter.
Can we please not normalize the awfulness that is dairy? People already know they can use regular butter if they want to, don't need to mention that evil stuff at all.
if you must know. this was originally shot for Food Network Canada special and I am repurposing the video a year later. They wanted that mentioned since their audience is primarily not vegan. This recipe has existed with only vegan instructions since then on my blog. I edited this for RU-vid just now and happened to miss that statement. I prob would have edited it out if I realized.
@@hotforfood you're making a vegan recipe, the fact that you have to apologize for mentioning regular butter is a bit ridiculous. How are people being disappointed by the mention of regular butter?
Wow, if you want you can even use regular butter???? Yeah, why not use a product that is cruel to animals? Easy, peasy, right? Not that you care but you lost me.
@butterflyneverlands this woman had created over 400 vegan recipe videos for the world. She has figured out delicious vegan ways to eat all the non vegan food we used to eat. Nobody cares that she said the word butter. Us vegans that appreciate her work know that we aren't going to use butter just because she said you can. Lauren does wonderful hard work in this field. Where are your 400 videos showing us how to make non vegan food in a vegan way?! Vegans are the minority in this food world. The more we nit pick over dumb shit like this, the less exposure Lauren's channel gets. We should be lifting this channel as high as we can, not dumping it by the wayside because she said butter. You sound like a real joy to be around. 🤣🤣🤣
having been vegan for 12 years this is why people hate us lol. you did not save a single animal with this comment, you're just being rude to a person who makes 99.9% vegan content.
