Very cool rundown! I think 40K gets a lot of focus thanks to having brick and mortar stores and being present in most friendly local game stores, but the rules are super deep for me. There are way too many synergies for me to keep track of, and having an entire side go at once can drastically change your options once it gets to your turn. I appreciate seeing different games and how their rules engines work.
The thing that sucks about this hobby is price of entry still tends to be pretty high (even in cases where it is cheaper than Warhammer) and it makes it difficult to bring other people into a game. Itd be great if they focused more on sets which included EVERYTHING you need to play a game with two people and makes it easier for someone to bring games into spaces where no one plays. Wanna learn a game, I got some stuff so we can both play and it didnt cost me $500.
Osprey Games I hear puts out some really great stuff. Frostgrave, Bolt Action, and Gaslands, I hear are quite excellent . Conquest and Malifaux look pretty cool too!
Atom mass has all but killed Star Wars xwing and armada was already no longer adding content. So they really only have 2 games they are actually developing things for.
