Been carrying a Glock for over thirty years. And a 43X for the last three. Stick with OEM magazine's for EDC. Far too many reports of malfunctions with the steel mags to depend your life on! I find that the rubber Talon grip wrap works the best for CCH. Good luck.
Why do people get so butt hurt over their guns? Simply put I absolutely agree with the comments. I’m 55 years old, I’m a combat vet, you don’t need the five rounds just carry an extra mag that IF you’re in a street battle,(doubtful) you’ll feel better. Learn to change a mag and stop buying into marketing. Shield mags are way over priced and never in stock. And if you bought OEM’s and now can’t use em’ then you’re out even more money. But I digress it is your money.
Stick with OEM for your Every Day Carry (EDC). 10 rounds is sufficient. And the the Beltless IWB holster (with the ULTICLIP) by Blacksmith Tactical is a must. The purpose of EDC is to keep things simple, and minimal.
I totally agree shield arms is an absolute wonderful mag. Now the metal will chew the oem’s but for me I don’t need the extra 5 rounds. I do have OEM mags with an extension but I don’t carry those. So for the money i simply don’t buy into the “need” for the extra 5 I just carry an extra mag so 21 on tap, which the chances of me needing that is slim and none. I can’t justify paying the crazy high price for a shield mag that half the time isn’t in stock anyway, and loose the use of my $20 OEM’s the cost just negates the shield for me when they’re just not in my opinion needed at all.
I have the HandleIt Edge grips and Ameriglo I-Dot sights on my G43X and I also run the factory magazines, just can't trust the Shield Arms magazines. It's a fantastic pistol and I carry in a Tenicor Velo4 appendix holster, great combination and the best holster money can buy!
Love my i Dots on my Pfc9. The ones he shows in this video are definitely nice and I do like the line, but I wanted white dots during the day, green in the dark.
I EDC a 43x and only changed slide stop to Vickers extended and upgraded sights. It's perfect. Tulster oath keeps it snug and ready. More ammo is all I'll do to it.
I stick with OEM, I rather use 10 rounds without malfunctions than 15 rounds. I saw a lot of issues with the engineering of shield arm magazines online.
It’s all up to your individual firearm! I’m no using yours and your not using mine. The only thing I have to compare to is how they function in my firearm
Good info bro! I didn’t realise that it’s not a good idea to use polymer mags after switching to the Shield Arms. Also just received my first Edge series grips and will install them tomorrow. So far it’s Interesting how they figured out what seems to be the perfect combination of sandpaper and Rubber Thanks for that. BTW, I also have thousands of rounds through the Shield Arms with zero issues! Keep the awesome vids coming!
Thanks man! I appreciate it. And same here, the shield arms mags are great. And they do take some getting used to that’s for sure. And yeah I didn’t realize it either until I started having issues getting the mags to drop at the range but it makes sense!
In the event you wear cargo style pants a "True" trigger guard holster works well for me. All it does is cover the trigger attached by a strong cotton cable. Tie a knot around a belt loop. -If needed just pull up and there you have a loaded pistol. These are made for many micro, sub and compact pistols. If you need a pitcure (Idea) click on immages and Google trigger guard holster. They cost between 10.00- 12.00. They are also great for putting a pistol in a bag etc. Many pro competion shooters are using them now. Just so the loaded pistol is safe while sitting on a firing post. There have been some negligent discharges latly, bu high profile shooters. This is why they a re becoming more popular these days. Best of luck-God bless.
Thank you! Half these people complaining about them haven’t even tried them. There is so much hate on the shield arms mags but I haven’t had a single hiccup out of them.
I think it’s just ppl don’t want to waste money. I got 2 of the shield arms and neither of them worked. They were reliable with 13rds but 14+ would cause feed issues for me. I’m gonna try the PSA dagger 15rd mags and see if they are better. But you are right just try them out and go what you feel most confident with. I’ll stick with my 10rd oem mags till I’m confident with a 15rd mag.
@tonyrunner3 so i got the psa micro dagger mags and sanded any and all flashing off the inside with 180grit then smothed everything over with 400grit and they have been 100% reliable with 300+ rounds so far. Kinda annoying to have to sand them, but 15 minutes of sanding to be able to carry an extra 10 rounds (5 from each magazine) all the time is well worth it in my opinion
The houge beaver tail grips are a very recommended as well, you dont have to worry about them wearing out as bad as the stick on grips and they preserve your grip over time alot better, feel great, and cost the same
To each his own. These edge series grips cannot be compared to anything, and definitely not hogue grips.. I rock hogue grips on multiple firearms and the edge series is unlinke anything else you know? That was the whole point of them
@@spnfirearms i havent tried the edge grip, but its a personal preference, most dont have a problem holding on to the firearm out of the box so most people dont care for an extremely grittier grip rubbing their skin all day, i remember when the m&p 2.0 series came out everyone complained about the grip out of box, hogue is a softer yet more filling grip, they both have good uses depending on the person, however i do recommend everyone have night sights so it should be everyones first purchase, i prefer the glock factory ameriglo sights but only bc ive had them for years and shoot great with them
I agree with your upgrade ideas. I tend not go go out at night and do not see a bid plus with tridium. I like the sights that utilize light to enhance the sights. I am not a fan of RMR. I have installed a Lasermax unit. I doubt if I really need it I will have time. I think it does help with practice. I am a firm believer that what works for you stick with it. It is your life on the line, should something terrible should happen.
One other reason I have night sites is in the dark laying next to you like on a nightstand you always know there. If for no other reason it works. They simply draw attention to your eyes.
Id probably go with glock mags if i could but so hield seems to maybe be apart of glock id try factory mags at first look u aint gotta shoot 1000 rounds through a gun to test reliability with a mag just a hundered or so and carry a 5 38 revolver a backup
PSA Dagger micro Mags hold 15 & have the polymer coating as well so you don't have to change out your mag catch & can easily go back to your oem Mags for times when you have to carry in a shithole state like NY & CA where you can only legally have a 10 round mag. Or just avoid those states all together.
Have any of you guys noticed that on the 43x mags, how sharp the back corners are on the floor plates? When I carry appendix, especially when sitting, they gouge the heck out of my arm. I rounded the corners on a couple of mags to see if that helps. The double stacks don't seem to be quite as sharp, or at least they don't stick out the same way. Just thought I'd see if anybody else had noticed that?
You should’ve mentioned if you put a factory glock mag in with that Shield arms mag catch it will get STUCK STUCK, like can’t get it out of the gun ruin the mag stuck…
Any holster recommendations for the MOS model running an optic? Thanks for the vid FYI you sound very similar to the professional who is one of my favorite gaming RU-vidrs
I replaced the springs, installed a flat trigger and replaced the trigger connector with a Ghost edge connector and upgraded the mag catch with a Shield Arms metal mag catch and 3x Gen 2 Shield Arms 15 round magazines and an extended slide stop and installed night sights. I am wondering if anyone makes any beavertail back straps to get rid of the Glock bite and I want a TLR 6 Light Laser and an appropriate kydex pocket holster for it. I really love the pistol and as a big guy I easily fit the G43X in my pocket in a nice Glock 43 pocket holster.
The g43x is too snappy for me, I rock with the canik mete mc9. I wanted to stay within the glock platform since I own a glock. But I shoot the mete accurately and with less effort.
@@spnfirearms I’m aware of the issues. Had one failure to feed and one out of battery within the first 200. Zero issues 1050 rounds later, I shoot this gun and carry it, I try to clean every 500 rounds, but knock on wood lm cool, until anything changes, as l got concerned after l had already purchased it. But l appreciate the advice.
I dont get why must swap mag release to metal with Shield Arms mags?? doesnt almost every other name brand firearms come stock with metal mags and plastic mag release yet zero issues...... I switched out too on my 43X MOS but still question it
If you don’t change the mag release to metal, and you use your shield arms mags the polymer mag release that come with Glock stock, will wear out and cause your mags to fall off your gun, it’s a priority tbh, metal doesnt go with polymer nor does polymer with metal switch it bro or else you’ll see your mags slip off your pistol
Carried a gen 5 26 for years and I like my 43x mos 1000x better. Way more comfortable, I run shield arms mags so it holds more rounds, and it has a better grip in my opinion. Nothing wrong with the 26 but personally the 43x is just a all around better edc for concealed carry
@@spnfirearms already have 5000 rounds thru it with zero issues the trigger is perfect , 17 rounds with factory mags no after market crap to try and upgrade it, glock is way behind the times glad I got rid of mine.
They are for if you go into work early like I do and have a self defense encounter in the dark. That’s all. Some people use them some don’t! To each his own!
It’s about the magazine release.if you know glocks, the slides ride on metal.. everything else is stationary when it comes to polymer on metal or vice versa. Mag release is constant friction. Learn your firearms before coming for me
@@spnfirearms lmfaooooooo really doubling down? Okay so you want something moving? like the polymer follower moving up and down in the metal magazine body- both oem and s15? Or how about the metal striker moving back and forth inside the polymer firing pin channel sleeve? Or how about the polymer trigger shoe on the metal trigger bar? I can go on if you’d like;) if you want a review channel your going to have to use your brain and say more then the marketing material on the box. Now go ahead and delete this comment and act like it never happened.
Definitely not. If you refuse to run aftermarket mags that just says you don’t actually shoot. Everybody talks trash about aftermarket mags but half the people haven’t even tried running them before stating an opinion on them. I haven’t had a single problem out of my gen 3 s15 mags. And why carry 10rd when I can carry 15 and it still be flush fit?
