In this video, I will walk you through how to make the ultimate monthly budget tracker in Google Sheets! You might already know about the monthly budget tracker template that Google Sheets provides us, but it is missing a significant element that is a must-have for investors and anyone who actually wants to get serious about their finances. That element is a savings/investing section. The Google Sheets template only tracks your monthly income and expenses. In this video, I will walk you through how to make the proper modifications to add an Investing/savings section to the tracker!

I don't want to create multiple sheets for each and every month by duplicating this. I want, There would be 2 sheets. As it is in this video. 👉 How to make it (month names) dynamic for every month?

U should update it... so there’s a way to do reaccuring payments! And have a yearly add one which tracks what month u saved most or spent most and overall yearly gain/spending

As this is a monthly tracking tool, does this mean I would need to have like 12 files of these to track each month seperatly? I've made a variation on this to track my cashflow for the whole year. Love the look and ease of this tracker sheet. I had it going prior to watching your video, but was stuck about how to track the savings and followed your instructions and learned more about formulas than I wanted to! lol BUT NEEDED and I don't feel as lost now in general with what all of those numbers mean. I made the chart no problem with making the edits to make it match and all that fun stuff, BUT....I am not getting the horizontal labels like yours. I have done it over and over and hear your voice in my sleep.....not working. What am I missing? Also.....I see a lot of comments and some questions below and nothing seems to have ever gotten answered. Don't leave us all hanging. ;)

I can't seem to get the "Planned" and "Actual" columns under Savings to formulate properly. When I followed the instructions it either changes the category column in the Transaction tab under Savings to the categories under Income, or it just doesn't pull the amounts over to the Summary sheet. Might be impossible to help without sharing my screen but if anyone has an idea of what could be wrong lmk.

I'm trying to figure out how to use google assistant with my google sheets for personal finance. For example, my own personal budget in a sheets template and being able to get google assistant to give me latest totals or entries or to make a daily expense entry for me. I found some articles on voice metrics which i am guessing i could use with my google nest. I just would like an automated way of looking at my running expenses, category totals. thanks

Does anybody know why, once the columns bars for planned and actual or start and end balance reach their top, they stop updating in proportion? They all look like they're reached their max..you don't get a true visual of the difference between the two

I am curious to this as well. I had no idea if we just continue adding on the same transaction sheet or make a duplicate transaction sheet for each month. Have you gotten an answer on this?

I personally do it per month and you can make another summary tab that looks at your entire year

Great video, this is just what I need but I'm using Excel not google sheets and I would like to keep it that way. I downloaded the template but too bad that the charts come with errors. I believe the formulas are not quite the same in excel. Everything else seems to be working find. If anybody found a way to fix that I will appreciate sharing it with me. Thanks to "Think Stocks" for this video.

Great tutorial. Many thanks ! I have been using this tracker since a few days now, it is so simple and straightforward. I have a question: how would I log, say, a hospital bill that I need to pay using my savings ? An option could be to add a negative amount in the savings transactions while also create an equivalent positive row in the income transactions --but in this way, the total value of Income would be "artificially" pumped up. In a nutshell: how to log any expense that does not tap into Income but into Savings ? Thank you in advance.

She’s a bit fast but if you have experience with sheets, witch I didn’t, it should take you much faster than me. I followed your directions and as others noted this is outdated with google sheets, I not all the functions worked for me and I have to manually change each line. I wish you would just allow us to download this google sheet for FREE instead of having to pay a monthly subscription just to get this spreadsheet. Please please allow us to download this for free.
