Nice video Nick Sciria! Those are interesting variations of plays to learn. For defense, could you make an analysis of the most interesting defensive plays or adjustments from the 16-17 season?
Nick Sciria has enter my top #3 most influential people to me list haha, these videos are freakin' awesome man! Keep it up! Maybe have a question at the end of each video and that could spark a conversation in the comments and maybe choose the best or most interesting answer and show it at the beginning of the next video. Thanks for the vids Nick!
Coach Nick, What are some more plays like the ones in the video that an interested fan might look into? Also, do you feel like the average complexity of offensive actions has increased over time? Like were there Spain pick and rolls in the 80s, 90s, or 2000s? What about plays like the Spurs Hammer?
One word, three-pointers. (Could be 2 words?) Most advances in NBA has been developed around the increased use of three pointers. Were there off-ball screens, pick & roll passes to the third man, high pick & roll above the three point line , transition 3sbefore the 3s had been heavily utilised? Surely they were, however they were not as deadly and used frequently as today. The reason was that when three pointers were introduced to the league, they were not accurate and effective enough to convince the coaches to use them often. Now with years of younger players developing their three point shooting at an early age, and both shooters (Ray Allen, Curry, JJ Redick) and teams (Cavs, Warriors, Spurs) showing successes, more coaches and teams are willing to utilise is as an offensive weapon.
