Those NES games were pretty wild, but I'm so glad you enjoyed this blast from the past! I haven't been into wrestling for awhile now but I appreciate all the crazy stuff they can do athletically. Let me know when the bra and panty matches come back ; )
Tecmo World Wrestling is really good. I like all 4 WWF games, but Tecmo and Pro Wrestling are definitely the cream of the crop (and the cream always rises to the top, Yeeeeah!). I kinda hate Tag Team Wrestling, and no matter how much I want to like it, MUSCLE is really bad. WCW I also would like to enjoy, but I just don't. I don't think you missed any of the North American releases. Would loved to hear your opinions more in-depth!
I might have to do a follow-up video to get more in-depth on these games with more of my thoughts on them. I do reviews on games where I share my personal experiences with them and give them a score. Those are tons of fun to create, but I like doing these too because it gives me ideas on games I should play next. Thanks for watching and dropping a kind comment!
It's really cool to see these NES wrestling games to see what would become of them later on. Not a fan of current wrestling games, but Gen 5-7 wrestling games is where it's at
I'm with you and that Gen 5-7 is the best era for the wrestling games. So much fun back then! Bro, you need to go check out my Stella Glow review if you haven't yet. There are some wild parts in it that I think you will appreciate 😂😂😂😂😂
Awesome list! Tag Team Wrestling and Pro Wrestling are amazing games! My cousin and I have played them constantly as he used to own TTW, and I had Pro Wrestling, so it was part of the playing rotation when we were kids! I've never played Tecmo Wrestling, but it looks good, so I will have to look it up! Great video and keep up the good work!
That's always cool when I hear memories from you about when you were playing these games. It's awesome to know you grew up playing these. Tecmo Wrestling stood out to me too. It looks pretty good! Thanks for watching.
I never realized how many Wrestling games were on the NES. I only played Pro Wrestling and used to really enjoy that one. Tecmo World Wrestling looks like the best one from the list, and I definitely want to try that one! Steel Cage Challenge and King of the Ring look like the weakest of the bunch lol. Great video, TC!
Some of these look pretty fun! As a big fan of Saturday Night Slammasters, I see a lot of similarities in a few of these games that would make them worth checking out. Nice video!
Great video! The only one I can recall playing as a kid is Tecmo World Wrestling and I've played Pro-Wrestling since then. The WCW game actually looks pretty interesting and I'd like to give it a try. It's probably still better than the recent WWE 2K games or AEW Fight Forever, which I found very disappointing.
Just a reminder, the creator of NES Pro Wrestling went on to create the Fire Pro Wrestling franchise, in which "Fire Pro Wrestling World" can be played on the PlayStation 4 or Steam PC (which has a pretty deep Workshop with a lot of user created content). The history alone is one of those "rabbit holes" that leads to some interesting useless knowledge, but does describe the inner workings of both video games and pro wrestling.
That’s a good point, the history of these wrestling games is really interesting. Thank you for watching and dropping all that knowledge. It's fun to see how far they've came.
Tecmo World Wrestling was the coolest wrestling NES ever because of the move list, commentary, and animation. I'm starting to think that when Cesaro was in WWE got the spinning move from the NES wrestling game.
I think it would be so fun to go to a live wrestling event and just get silly. Cherry was so disappointed that we will be missing m1dget wrestling. It's coming in November but we will be in Vegas. She instantly thought of you and your love of that type of wrestling.
the NES is a terrible matchup for wrestling style games. They look bad, they are incredibly difficult, they just are not fun in any way. The SNES however, works. and the N64 is still the golden era of wrestling games. Engines are way better than even today's graphics-obsessed 2K era.
I agree it was a little rough to begin with haha. Something that I tend to think about is the limited buttons that the NES had. There were only four fighting games released on the console and it makes me think that with more buttons wrestling games could have been a little bit better too. Thanks for watching!
The 80s were a blur... to be fair, I was pretty young :P 1:02 wait, does MUSCLE really stand for that, or did you make this up? I couldn't tell if you were joking. I had to google it, lol. That's funny. I had no idea they'd made an acronym. 1:47 I know it's dated now, but Tag Team wrestling's graphics actually look pretty good 3:09 WrestleMania is one I did cartridge swap for, so I at least had played this a bit as a kid. I loved "The Princess Bride" so I was super excited to play as Andre the Giant 😀 4:30 the Tecmo games were usually good quality. This one doesn't look familiar to me, so I must not have had any school-mates who had it to cartridge swap with 6:25 ooh, this one looks great! I don't think I played this one though, only the older WrestleMania 7:10 wow, there are so many similar ones it's hard to keep them straight. I'm sure it's easier if you are a wrestling fan, because you'd know that game X has wrestler Y and that makes it different 8:03 I get that it's easier to make a fair game this way, but without custom moves it feels less cool Excellent countdown as always! Well researched too! I'd have been scared to talk about any of those games, since they were similar enough to each other that I'd be worried I'd swap factoids, lol
Like Jim Cornette would say, the "best" wrestling game on the NES is like being the nicest guy in prison. Almost all of them are awful, and the only reason they're remembered is nostalgia because it was all we had at the time. And a correction about Steel Cage Challenge, which I owned and played extensively back in the day: there are no signature moves. Everyone has the exact same moveset whether you're Bret Hart or the Undertaker. It also had some of the most unresponsive controls I've ever experienced in a wrestling game.
Oh man that's a great analogy 😅😂I feel that a lot of gamers are saying some pretty bad things about these games. Thanks for the correction, that must have snuck on by me! Appreciate you watching and dropping a comment.
