The best new 7.62x39 Rifle? CMMG Dissent MK47 

That gun is absolutely sick. It's so well designed, a perfect hybrid between AR and AK. Unfortunately, it's priced at a place where I don't think they'll sell a ton of them. Ultimately, PSA will probably make a clone that's more accessible, and sell the hell out of them

15 yrs..has it been that long. It's good you and a few others managed to stay in there where many of us were just community guidlined into retirement (oblivion)...Keep up the fight and great work my friend...

Awesome gun. That overall frame with an AR-15 mag lower configuration and Grendel 2 bolt (or even better, finally even better a beefier bolt size like AR-10) could be the basis for a 6.5 Grendel set up--light enough, beefy, AR style controls and stability--the Grendel would really extend the range of that gun.

Still love my ks47 from psa. But I like the bufferless setup. Like you say though the stock does look a flimsy. And btw cmmg has really great customer service. I bought their 22lr ar15 conversion bolt over 5 years ago. It recently broke I emailed them to see if I could buy the replacement part to repair it. They emailed me back asking for a picture. I sent the picture then they asked for my shipping address. No other questions they sent the past out 100% free didn’t even have to pay shipping. Oh and all those emails were sent back and forth in less than 24 hours of me sending the first msg

I think the XCR still has this beat. I see possible longevity issues with the guide rod retainer/buffer It's also nice to have adjustable gas for steel/commercial loads/cans

I see a lot of proprietary parts and issues with the cam pin, not unlike your experience with the FM102. Very interesting that you seem to have a more favorable opinion for the cmmg.

Just saw a vid on this where the rail started to come apart about the 500, 600 round mark. The youtuber had two sent to him and it happened to both. Hopefully, this was a QC issue thats fixable.

Nice to see CMMG has been listening to the complaints from some of the earlier Dissents and making changes to the platform.

Cool gun, but at that price point I'm going with the sig mcx spear lt. The sig has full ambi controls and is anodized rather than cerakote.

I have built and bought so many AR 47’s. Still waiting for all the problems people talk about. The only problem I had was with one ASC magazine. Other then that nothing. I take the time to make sure none are over gassed. Use a great quality bolt carrier group. And I use Duramags.

I’ve got 2 CMMG dissents. 9mm, 6arc, 300 blk out upper. Smooth and accurate. What a gun. Hoping for a 22 arc from Cmmg.

I just received the new MK47 Resolute that came with a bolt stop/release installed. This not the Dissent! It’s not a last round bolt hold open due to the AK magazine but it’s still a good feature for those that were complaining that the platform didn’t come with one.

CMMG is such a dark horse! I feel in love when I traded for the REC4 here on YT. (I know Jay who did review). Great company, great gun.

What has less recoil? The original MK47 which is DI with traditional AR insides with a buffer tube or this?

8:13 guide rods = recoil spring 8:40 firing pin = recoil spring I've never seen a bcg with so many recoil springs.

2:36 On the subject of the stock, that looks like a clone of the B&T MBT stock. I have one with a pic rail adapter on my PSA JAKL and it's *nowhere* near that flimsy.

How is direct impingement better then the regular long stroke piston ? Especially shooting supressed . They should of made it with an adjustable piston . Then maybe I can see spending 2200 for it . But there’s no way in hell I’d be paying 2,200 $ when there’s other much better rifles for that priceb

There did not seem to be much excess gas coming out of the receiver with the silencer on as you would normally see with an AR style rifle. I wonder if that was a coincidence?

I don't really understand why anybody is still designing anything for 7,62x39mm and AKM magazines, but the gun itself is very cool. Those only got popular because of cheap Russian surplus, which isn't available anymore.

I had a chance to shoot the full auto version of this gun. It was very good (even for a lefty).

MAC, that rubber piece (10:05) in between the guide rod is a bumper so the BCG doesnt slam against the back of the receiver.

The smaller carrier let it works with less gass, less bump and so on. My only concern is about coil life because of the heat inside the receiver; it is lower than regular AR but the coils are inside of it. So, for extensive use the coils can suffer a bit with heating problems.

Love the gun and I already own the MK47. This looks like they finally improved the Sig 556 XI Russian

Breaking ? The psa I have has 6 k rounds needed a tireing pin but have had no issue with the bolt face

I wish they made something like this but based it on the AR15 size so it was lighter and used the AR style Mags... then put the charging handle on the left side of the reciver instead on the handguard... I know they use the ar10 bolt because it has more meat... but sig an pws are doing the small bolt face with no issues.. overall it seems solid... Love the bufferless system!

Other than the folding Stock, why not just go with the 'Resolute' from cmmg ? Edit: wait I may have answered my own question looking at their specs- 'adjustable gas block'

My biggest regret for a firearm purchase was deciding to get an 870 marine magnum when I had the money to just spend a little more for a Mutant or a match grade M1 chambered in .308. only reason was I didn't have a 12g, had 3 AKMs and the M1 was butchered in my mind lmao 😅

MAC have you ever checked for accuracy at distance with the AR 7.62x39's like the dissent here? Just curious as to what a good setup could do, even using the wolf steel ;)

MAC, does the Mk47 Dissent have a Bolt Release on it? I ask because not a fan of the AK47 but am a fan of the 7.62x39 and I own a Gen 2 SIG 556R that has worked Flawlessly since day 1 back in October 2013 when I purchased it brand new and all my AK47 mags have the WeaponTech AK47 Enhanced Bolt Hold Open Follower from Primary Arms and I am also used to shooting my Bren 2ms 7.62x39, Ruger Mini-30 and Colt MT6850DC 7.62x39 16 inch HBAR that I have owned since 1996 and has been a faithful weapon for hog hunts and way too many 2 and 3 gun competitions to remember when I was shooting Heavy Metal Class using 147gr FMJ handloaded ammo that I worked out a really good receipt to get the most out of the 26.5 grs of WW748 and it was very accurate out 250 yards.

Have you checked out the X39 lower for the ACR rom Templar Precision? That can also make you a barrel and bolt. And it's excellent. With the weight of the barrel there is next to no recoil. It's excellent

I would think that the buffer tube on the AR would work better for minimizing recoil on the 7.62 round?

could this be my new favorite operating system that I wish ALL of my rifles were made from?!?! my 5.56 and 300aac for sure but... ESPECIALLY my 6.5 grendel with that beefier bolt! Folding stocks are SO MUCH EASIER for storage and transportation and to do those things discreetly

I thought you would have compared it to the sig spear LT in 7.62x39. I got one and to me this a almost a direct copy. Aside from the magazine.

Them marking the bolt with the caliber makes me wonder if they already have plans to make the Dissent in different calibers. I imagine that with a simple bolt, barrel, and mag well change you could have a smorgasbord of calibers through one very robust platform.

It always seems like the lineal children of the ar-18 (cost improved ar-15 (a simplification of course)) are more expensive than your run of the mil ar 15 these days.

They should continue with the military naming convention and append Mod # to the name: Mk47 for the original Mutant Mk47 Mod1 for the Resolute Mk47 Mod2 for the Dissent

Pretty wary of CMMGs bufferless operating system. Especially considering how solid the original MK47 was and the fact that it had more compatibility with AR15/AR10 parts. Whatever my concerns though, CMMGs ability to adapt that operating system to such a wide range of calibers has been impressive.

Definitely awesome riffle! You know we all need IV8888 to do a new meltdown with the Dissent mk47! But for true comparison it should be a 10" barrel. I wanna know which one will run longer & take more abuse!?!?

i had the last iteration 2 yrs ago, and it would not feed non-magpul AK mags well at all. CMMG customer service said to only use magpuls, which is worthless advice IMO. I just spoke to customer service today to see if this new version will work on all AK mags (because all the reviews on the internet are only using Magpul mags, and nobody mentioned anything about traditional AK mag use/reliability to any appreciable extent)....well customer service told me the same thing again, only use magpuls. I am so glad i asked before making another mistake of buying a CMMG.

So,it is an overgrown Dissent. Yes Tim, we know, everything compares to the beloved Sig. and yet, no bolt hold.

Hope they make a 13.7 version with a KeyMo pin and weld or 14.3 with no muzzle. Gorgeous rifle!

Totally badass. kinda makes for a hard choice btwn this mk47 and the Sfar in 30 cal battle rifles. this gun can shoot steel so the extra cost might be worth it. it does cost alot more than sfar but the ammo is cheaper than 762x51. soft shooting, folding stock, side charging. this thing is a smooth operator and way better than almost any ak. i think i read somewhere the 762x39 has killed more people in the world than any other cartridge... but I believe this round is better than 300 blk. its debatable but you can build a cheaper ar in 300blk but ammo is slightly more. the more i see this hybrid type action the more i think all ar15s should have it bc you can fold the stock and its lighter than a piston gun. i dont see how the US military can stick w the regular ar15 for a 100 years so im guessing its either this action or a bullpup in the future for the troops. it just needs a better folding stock. some parts of the military are already moving this way with the sig spear.

The breakdown looks a little more complicated compared to the simplicity of an AK. But it is a well designed gun.

Does a standard AR upper fit on it? Even if it doesn't function, If a standard AR upper does not fit, it could be legal here in Canada.

So how is this different from a short stroke piston gun? I did watch the video but maybe I just need to know how a short stroke piston works.

I have a Romanian made AK-47, that I bought at a gun show in 2001 for $350, with well over 4000 rounds through it, not 1 malfunction, shooting Wolf cheap ammo, AK platform is solid!!!!

Is it long stroke gas system? Gas block seems far forward. Idk.
