The new CMMG Dissent is a new design that looks like an AR15, and has some parts commonality with the AR15, but isn't an AR15. It has more in common with the Sig Virtus / SPEAR LT. The CMMG Dissent is offered in 300 Blackout, 5.56 and 5.7x28.

Let’s not forget that CMMG has outstanding company values plus they are strong supporters of the 2nd Amendment. CMMG, Patriot Ordnance and Palmetto State Armory are some of the most innovative companies out there right now. As the saying goes, annoy a bureaucrat buy these companies products now.

@@johnsierra9792 Respectfully, you couldn’t be more wrong. Just because someone sells guns doesn’t mean they support the values of the second amendment. Many companies (cough cough HK) stand against selling to civilians because it ups their brand as a “military” exclusives firearms company. There are other reasons companies may be anti 2a but HK was the only one that came to mind when responding. Hk has also sold G36’s to cartels in Mexico.. they’re not my favorite brand
@sambellows2923

And let’s not forget Daniel Defense, they throw the 2nd amendment under the bus every chance they get. I’m not sure there’s a gun control law they haven’t liked. They do it to keep their government contracts. HK and Daniel Defense are two difficult companies to like.

The 6mm ARC impresses me the more I learn about it. The shortcoming is the magazines. If Magpul releases a mag that works flawlessly and more ammo manufacturers start producing the round to drive the price down, it will really take off. You should test it with a short barrel. The short and chubby case allows for a quicker burn that favors a shorter barrel. A steel base at 80,000 psi would enable even shorter barrels. The military will probably adopt it to replace the 5.56 when someone does it. If CMMG reads this, release the Dissent in 6mm ARC and thank me later. (edit: I was thinking CMMG but typed PSA 😂. The Dissent and Jakl need a head-to-head comparison.)
@sofloflow

@@sofloflow And much shorter than 6.5 grendel too.
@user-pq4by2rq9y
@user-pq4by2rq9y Год назад
Frankly, I would forget the high pressure, the beauty of 6 arc is that you don’t need a lot of powder to do the job. True velocity could make a polymer cartridge based on it that would solve the magazine problem. That said, nothing is stopping you to make a specialized load for a specialized rifle with amped up pressures on the same cartridge. What I think I would do is tuning the powder for a 10~11 inch barrels and make a specialty load at a slightly higher pressure for longer barrels if there is a need for it. The idea is something that can deliver high volume of fire and still be accurate instead of something that compromises so much to defeat level IV body armor. Ideally spending as little powder as possible to preserve barrel life (seems army has a tendency to not want to replace barrels these days).
@coreymoyers
@coreymoyers Год назад
@@sofloflow I'm not sure that is true. Barrel burnout is caused by unburned power igniting in the chamber or slower-burning powders used to maximize speed. Today's powders are moving towards faster and faster burning for short barrel performance. The higher case pressure in the new Sig round is mostly from faster-burning gunpowder.
@coreymoyers
@coreymoyers Год назад
@@user-pq4by2rq9y The True Velocity case is probably the future. It has many advantages on paper but needs more time to prove reliability for the Military. I would love to work on that project too. The thermal dynamics are vastly superior to brass. It makes me wonder why someone does not coat brass in a thin layer of plastic. A lot of people confuse the advantage of the higher pressure case with the way it has been applied. It could focus on increasing the velocity, which would result in a barrel burner as the powder is still burning down the barrel. Instead, they are using faster powders that can utilize shorter barrels. This is the opposite of a barrel burner. Think of it like this. A long slow burn pushes the bullet all the way down the barrel to maximize velocity-more time at higher pressures. A short burn is a higher pressure initially but doesn't keep pushing as much when the bullet travels down the barrel. Sure it could be used either way, but the way Sig designed the .277 fury, they use a faster powder that can use a shorter barrel. Hornaday is using faster powders in its Black series of cartridges. That's why you won't get a drop in velocity with shorter barrels as much as some of their legacy loads.

Their internal geometry is designed around a particular regime of flow rates and pressures. Subsonics lay outside that regime. While they are fantastic with supersonics due to their high mass flow rate (and consequently, low backpressure) the same characteristics don't lend themselves to subsonic use. They're totally usable in a subsonic application, but they are not efficient at it.

The main reason is that sub-sonic 300BLK rounds don't produce enough gas to reliably run most actions. They require the additional back pressure that a suppressor provides. OSS suppressors are flow-through and don't provide enough back pressure. For example I have an OSS 7.62ti. With that suppressor my Rattler will only cycle with the hottest 220 grain sub-sonics and even then, not completely reliably. With a traditional baffle can (I was able to try it with a friends Dead Air Nomad) it ran everything I put through it including some wimpy 200 grain.

You didn't discuss the barrel. Why are they making 6.5" barrel with a 1:7 vs 1:5 twist, and why 4140 steel? I realize accuracy is not the biggest concern on an short barreled pistol, but for $2K, I feel like the included barrel is a shortcoming, and also, if you put an aftermarket barrel on it, will there be any incompatibilities with the gas block/indexing etc? These little details matter.

Time to buy one. Will work great with myJK armament silencer that's in atf jail. Hope the pistol brace stuff gets resolved, but I'll sbr it.

What is the big deal getting your gun without a waiting period (in pistol form) then just form 1 it and then when you get the stamp you can swap out the brace for a stock? I don’t get it, why would people prefer to have their gun in NFA jail till the stamp comes in?

Can't wait for the dissent vs jakl, even though for my money if the jakl goes bang every time that's the one I'll end up with lol. I guess we will see any day now if the atf will make this section of the market useless.

Did the SLR gas block come standard with the gun or did you add it? The SLR GB is a neat design, but I’ve had problems with them carbon locking up with suppressed 556s. Might not be such an issue with 300blk since it doesn’t produce as much excess gas as 556/223 when suppressed.

@@Militaryarmschannel Thanks MAC. Keep an eye on it. It would be interesting to see if it locks up after 100, 200, or 300 rounds with 300 blk.

I think very highly of cmmg. I think this is an excellent design. But it is wildly overpriced. To me, 300bo makes the most sense and the PSA jakl is $999. I’m no fanboy but PSA is solid if it’s not a lemon out of the box

Question: what’s the point of suppressor if you’re shooting super sonic ammo / high velocity ammo ?? I mean isn’t the whole point of a suppressor is to quiet the sound a bit ? But if you increase the speed of the ammo then isn’t it defeating the purpose of the suppressor ?? I understand if you’re shooting regular velocity or subsonic ammo then sure a suppressor is great .

I live in MD and would LOVE if they made an 11.5” version of this or the 5.56. (Rifles in MD have to be 29 inches overall regardless of whether or not it’s NFA. It’s stupid I know).

That reminds me of a Desert Eagle with the twin recoil springs and AR style rotating bolt. Only the DE has its gas piston on the front of the slide. I would like to see HK or one of the clone manufacturers bring out a 53 in 300 BLK.

@@ghnostshinobi2060 the rattler is part of the mcx platform, that did. And, generally, most Sig products come to market with a lot of issues, and require a few generations to get working semi reliably. Also, it's not going off to point out a pattern. Wasn't even a rant....and the above was just a clarification. So idk how you got to where you got.

It is mind blowing that 3d printing has found it's way into mainstream production firearms. If you had told me that 7 years ago I wouldn't have believed you. It is absolutely incredible how far the technology has come is such a short amount of time, even if it's just for little nonstress parts.

I am seriously considering a purchase of this firearm. And I have been looking at the HUXWRKS Ventum 762. Why did you say you do not recommend the OSS HUXWRKS Ventum for 300 blk subsonic ammo? I am now considering the Explorr taper mount .300 at your recommendation. Thanks. The purpose of this set up for me is to be a truck gun.

I just dont understand with a firearm with that short of a barrel what the drawback would be to have a piston or at least a cup on the end of the BCG that would keep the carbon out of the receiver. I get something like an AR10 that has much bigger parts that are heavier and would be more reliable gas blowback. I also get most people can not carry enough ammo with them to cause a malfunction due to carbon build up.
