I do think B&M are going to start having a renaissance of sorts. I think they need more launched models to compete with what Intamin, Mack and Premier are doing. Most parks, that it makes sense to have one, already have a Hyper or suspended. Maybe more parks in the future can make room for a Giga if they can afford one. I really think B&M could innovate if they change their layouts and start launching floorless and winged models. It's crazy that Thunderbird is the only launched Wing model, considering how good it is.
Right now, with so many parks getting in the news from terrible ride accidents, the manufacturer with the most absolutely sterling reputation for safety and reliability has to be getting renewed attention. Their rides are expensive, and they haven't been pushing the envelope hard lately, but you get what you pay for.
@@MattMcIrvin That's spot on and B&M's track record is sterling. I think we probably will see their Surf model start filling empty spaces at parks in the future, but of course that will take a few years as I imagine they can only do one at a time. I think it would do B&M good to have a couple smaller models. I look at Ice Breaker, Pantheon and Time Traveler none have height or speed records, but they do bring alot of innovation to the table.
Not gonna lie, was expecting the launched model to go to Over Georgia. They've been missing a launch coaster for a long time, and it seems like it's one of the main gaps.
I hope that, with the success B&M's been seeing with their cost-effective mini-dives, they'll start introducing some mid-to-low price new ride models or cloneable layouts. Cedar Fair's trying to cut back on spending and has already bought just about every B&M ever made; if B&M wants to market to Six Flags and other chains that are less willing to spend big, they need some cheaper ride models
They have their Family Coaster model, which can be built as an inverted or sit-down coaster, but it unfortunately has a maximum rider height of 6'4". If they were to increase that maximum rider height and then more seriously market both versions of the ride, they might be able to rival Vekoma in that market.
This is a rare video where I disagree with a good amount of your picks, but your premier switching over to workout equipment joke was one of your best jokes yet
I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head. I was thinking of giving Georgia the Giga to try and make the park stand out as a tourist destination, but a large wing coaster would do a pretty good job of that.
A new rollercoaster won't be enough to make Over Georgia into a destination. Many locals are considering going to Fun Spot Atlanta instead of Over Georgia, despite Fun Spot Atlanta only having one good ride. The reason why is because of Over Georgia's bad reputation with regards to staff and operations.
It's not B&M, but when Cotaland announced that new Vekoma tilt coaster I was thinking that could be a possibility for SFNE too, if they wanted to go a little out on a limb.
Over Georgia has a nice collection of B&Ms, and adding a launched wing coaster would be a good fit. If we're talking any manufacturer, I'd go with an Intamin blitz multi-launch. An RMC Raptor Wonder Woman clone where the water ride was would be cool (if they could fit it). It's fun to speculate, then they just give us a free spin or something 😆
Assuming Knott's Berry Farm actually gets its proposed B&M Giga, I think Magic Mountain would be more likely to get an Intamin Giga. Something like Hyperion at Energylandia but cracking the 300' mark might be in order.
If the Knott's Giga happens ( which, if I were to put money on it, I'll buy it), theres absolutely NO WAY Magic Mountain will sleep on it. They'll build something that'll compete with it in 2024-2025, even if its the last coaster for a while. Whether that'll be a giga or something else, we'll have to wait and see. But SFMM will 100% clap back at Knott's.
One year later, Knott's has cancelled the giga plans. They probably realised they would never get planning permission for that in a residential area. Instead, they're getting a B&M Mini-Hyper.
All three B&M Gigas are at a park that also has a B&M Hyper, and one featuring the staggered seating exclusive to those three rides (plus Shambhala) at that! Coincidence???!?! Probably.
B&M made a sit down launched looper (hulk clone I think) in China a couple years back, so if they offer that layout option as a model it could be used for parks that need launched loopers
Yes! I’ve been thinking that Over Texas could use a Giga! I’m glad we’re on the same wave length. If by some miracle that did happen, I would hope that they call it The Lone Star 💫
Over Georgia has plenty of inversions already (Batman, Superman, Scorcher, Blue Hawk, Mind Bender, Twisted Cyclone, and even Dare Devil Dive). What they need is a nice launched coaster. Or something with a really unique gimmick. But if it had to be a B&M, I'd go with a Dive, even though there'd arguably be some overlap with DDD.
I would LOVE to see a wing coaster at six flags over Georgia! The B&Ms at the park are solid (Georgia Scorcher being my favorite), so a wing coaster there would be a great addition.
@@therock238360 I always pictured it going up and over the cliffside on the east side of the park, dropping down near the employment center, then turning around at Fiesta Texas Drive. Maybe taking up a narrow swath of parking on the way back like Goliath @ La Ronde or Silver Star.
There are two directions I could see Cedar Point going in that event. 1) Get a ride that fills a similar niche-i.e., that's mainly about its launch. The best candidates would probably be an S&S air launch or something from Premier Rides. 2) Break the world inversion record. I could see Gerstlauer, S&S, or Mack taking the job.
I really would love for Great America to get a new Floorless. Since no parks are buying any ground-up Floorless coasters at the moment, I really hope they can relocate Great Adventure’s Stand-up coaster Green Lantern to Great America and have it converted to a Floorless. For Green Lantern’s replacement, they should get a B&M Wing Coaster. Also, if Great Escape were to get a B&M Invert, my guess is it’ll be another Batman clone. I mean, it is Six Flags after all. You know how they love cloned rides.
I thought a Beyond vertical Dive Coaster would be cool for GADV when it's Sawmill's time to go, although Jersey has multiple beyond vertical drops there's no dive coasters anywhere around. but a surf coaster in that same deserted Frontier Town area would make sense.
Here’s an idea: Instead of B&M, what about the best Vekoma model for each park? You’d have Bermuda Blitz/Wildcat, Shockwave, Flying Dutchman 3.0, STC, SFC, Tilt Coaster and Super Boomerang.
I was floored when you suggested a giga for SFOT (maybe a little wishful thinking from your location). I still think a launched wing coaster 200’ tall where the amphitheater and old stunt show are now.
I would like to see a B&M Dive come to SFOG. Since the park offers some of their coasters that are surrounded by water, it can be added next to Blue Hawk and have a splash down element when the train passes through the water.
Great video chris, but with all due respect I think the idea of Six Flags building any sort of B&M giga coaster is a bit generous... Even with the new CEO 😂😂
Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger is a great dive coaster for Six Flags to return the B&M roller coasters after 10 years! I didn't even notice that the B&M Surf Coaster is gonna be a thing until now. Hopefully Six Flags will get new B&M Roller Coasters opening in the future! So I agree with this list!
Dr.Diabolical’s Cliffhanger looks really good that drop looks amazing, the blending of the elements looks great, and that drop off the MCBR looks great too and look like it would hit really good.
I would love a B&M hyper at STL, but if they were going to build one, I would guess Mack or something less expensive would be a better budget option. Or just Rmc Boss and kill two birds with one stone…
Maybe you could do another one of these with Cedar Fair and Intamin. I know they haven't worked with Intamin, but I think they will again in the near future.
Can you do an ultimate 6 flags park episode ? Take a different style coaster from six flags parks ei, a woodie , hyper , rmc , launch, 4d , flat ride and each category to create the ultimate 6 flags park. Can’t use the same park twice. And you can do the same with cedar fair ! Ultimate cedar fair park
Why is there such hate with the stand up coasters? I think Riddlers Revenge at Magic Mountain is an incredible ride. Those back to back dive loops while standing was top notch! B&M should keep making them.
See, instead of giving SFOT a giga, I'd give it a flyer. There isn't a flying coaster anywhere near Texas, and for the GP they already have Titan to fill the "tall one" slot. Plus their only real inversion machine is a Batman clone. They could theme the flyer to Superman, which Six Flags loves to do, give it some minor record stat to drum up publicity, and watch the GP go wild.
Hey man your like the coaster king to me but maybe a fun concept for a video your favorite/least favorite flat rides in america. If you even go on them :)
A dive coaster at SFGrAm would be great, replacing American eagle...it would look great near expressway (a weenie) But, RMC conversion would be perfect and cost less than B&M dive and make a great 50th Anniversary present compared to a not-so-unique-anymore dive coaster. I remember Goliath's first year, 3+ hour waits and 7+ years later still gets long lines = Fla$h pa$$...,which is new 6F priority,
If they were to replace the go-cart track with a dive coaster, that might be better. I haven't seen the go-cart track operate in a long time, and it takes up a good amount of space that could be used for something better.
"The Flying coaster would, uh, fly here" Also helps that Canada has no Flying coaster and I think the closest one to La Ronde is the one at Great America which is so far away it isn't one of the parks Six Flags advertises our Platinum season passes work at (though they do work at all parks).
I would LOVE to see a GIGA at MM !! We can only hope and pray six flags opens their checkbook for once !! And completely off topic..wonder woman. A foot taller than Jersey devil !!! REALLY six flags !!
Still holding out hope for that Dive at SFDK. I do think it's possible in the next 5 years if Dr. Diabolical is any prediction of six flags future, but we'll see...
I think Over Texas needs a multilooper badly, so I would give them a wing or invert. To keep as many of the rest of your choices, Fiesta Texas can have the giga, and I guess that gives a mini hyper to Frontier City or Great Escape? Fun thought experiment though! :)
I have a video idea 💡 Imagine a park like energylandia decided to open a US Park with around 15 coasters. Video idea 1: What would be the best 15 rollercoasters install to have a perfect well rounded park. Video idea 2: If the park could only add 1 coaster from each manufacturer. What would make the best combination 🤔
I think a wing launch would be good at great adventure but I really like the surf for great adventure and while I think for their 50th anniversary they will get a thrill, not extreme primer blitz with 3 inversions
I really like this list, a lot of thought went into it. Magic Moutain for a Giga & Fiesta for a Hyper were my exact same thoughts. Nearly everything else I loved the idea of. The only one that I think was a tough sell was the surf for Great Adventure. I'd put a 200+ foot dive there and give the surf to Discovery Kingdom instead.
I wonder how much longer their ride experience philosophy will work for them . Long drawn-out elements, reorganized elements that are not really custom... While Fury325 is my absolute favorite B&M and Coaster, the rest of their rides are a blur to me as they are not what i call special coasters. Behemoth, fun ride but, it's not THAT different from Diamondback (though i prefer DB). The layouts are the same in that they have parabolic hills, a turn around etc. What i mean is to me, Intamin has the best steel coaster layouts and a ride experience that is more in line with what i like. Velocicoaster reinvigorated my coaster love and left me speechless. B&M does not make bad rides but they also have fewer stand out rides that feel truly different. I mean, Emperor, it looks like they sped the pacing of the elements up a bit but it's the same dive coaster philosophy with give or take, the same elements. The Immelmann on a ride like Velocicoaster feels like a new element and does not feel like any other Immelmann i have ever ridden. RMC, the reason why they are doing so well is that they have a COMPLETELY different ride philosophy that IMO returned the thrill to roller coasters. B&M, from an engineering, ride safety, reliability and maintenance standpoint, they are unmatched however, other manufacturers are delivering more thrilling rides in tighter footprints for less price with the same reliability. Intamin, in all their Mega Lyte coasters, managed to give each ride its own identity and i think that B&M should consider the same. I am not saying that i want their rides to ride like any of the aforementioned companies however, take Emperor for instance... why not add a stall on an inversion? To me, Orion would have been a great opportunity to do to a giga coaster something similar to say Hyperion. Instead, B&M delivered a shitty wave element, into a turn around to give a decent speed hill, strange and forgettable helix into a.. slight pop of air and a mile long brake run. So much more could have been delivered but they do not push themselves and guess what... a launch into the same elements we've ridden for decades is NOT innovation...
Hey, I love your videos. Magic Mountain is my home park, but it always puzzles me why ninja runs with one train constantly, but they have 2 trains there. Do you know why they run one train? I think they have run a 2nd since July 2014 derailment which was the only reason I can think of
Seeing as Ninja is an Arrow coaster, and the suspended model is already rare, it's possible the coaster only operates one train to save on wear and tear for the other train, as parts for those coasters can be expensive.
If the new B&M restraints for the surf coaster turn out well, I hope they expand the design to encompass their other models with inversions. The vest restraints were a terrible choice on rides like Valravn and most of the newer B&Ms that have them. Dive coasters normally have zero headbanging to begin with, so vests are nonsensical.
you are assuming everyone agrees about the vests and they don't! They are immensely more comfortable than their old restraints, WAY more forgiving to larger guests and make the ride experience better.
@@Bnizzofashizzo The vests are immensely more uncomfortable for many guests as it is very common for the restraints to tighten significantly throughout the ride to the point where breathing is not comfortable. Having previously ridden Sheikra and Griffon, Valravn was quite a disappointment as the vests eliminate the floating feeling you'd get on those earlier dive coasters. The drop is literally the whole point for rides like that. The real solution would be for this new over the shoulder lap bar system to be comfortable for all riders while maintaining the freedom of a regular B&M hyper clamshell restraint.
I'd take any full circuit 150+ for St. Louis. I know Mr. Freeze beats that but it's not the same, you know? No tall lift hill of anticipation. It'd even be okay if they had to remove the mine train and Ninja to fit it in. Though I've heard the park has a lot of free land, even with the way they've boxed in with the wooden coasters.
that plot is like 600x400 feet if you keep it within the train tracks. Though I think B&M could fit a dive in there easily while working around the mine train. Not sure if that would be worth the added cost though, considering that thing is the definition of a walk-on. A coaster and a flat could fit in there, they could even do a retheme. This is Six Flags, who am I kidding, they'd just extend the area down to Batman and make everything DC. I think it'd be cool to stick with the steampunk idea and put an Air Race in. Yes, I know that's basically copying Fiesta Texas. They're a good duo (trio if you count the theming). That is a somewhat reasonable idea to renovate that Choteau's Market area of the park if you ask me, though. Now here's the real question: how do we convince them to: 1. Retheme and build as above 2. RMC Boss 3. Raptor where the go-karts were in the west/in the top right near the sad coasters all within let's say 5 years? Or even 10, and add in a water park improvement and some other surprise. I don't think I'm being THAT unreasonable here.
Part of me thinks that a dive coaster would work at great America but at the Same time we don’t have that world class rollercoaster and a dive coaster wouldn’t fill that quota especially if valravn is bigger I truly think Great America should’ve gotten the giga coaster so that there’s a world class coaster to fit the park essentially finally rounding out the lineup perfectly
Six Flags Over Texas is my current home park, while I know you are not a fan of the Gioviola hypers Titan is extremely popular here still. I think a flyer would be an excellent choice for Over Texas as long as it’s a custom layout with a pretzel roll similar to Tatsu and not a Superman from Great Adventure clone. A Giga isn’t a bad choice, I just don’t see Six Flags investing in a Giga where they have Hypers
@@AirtimeThrills Your not wrong, it's like tucked away off the beaten path, but still draws a good crowed on busy days. SFOT does not not really have extremely busy days though outside of Fright Fest which last year was a complete mess. (They closed the park an hour early on us because of multiple flights and security couldn't control the crowed)
