Personally, I like the tattle flag. I primarily fish Lake Erie, so weeds aren't an issue and the flag alerts when a fish is on...even small ones. The best is when the flag snaps down and the board goes directly behind the boat. Fish on!!

Good stuff. I usually can judge the bend in the rod to detect even small fish, but not always. Yes it is fun when the board goes crazy. Every once in a while one will go under water and I've had them skip across the surface like skipping a rock sometimes. I'd like to tell you that this happens to me with 12 lb walleyes but it is usually 34-36 inch pike. Thanks for the input.

Thanks for another great informative video , after looking at the offshore brand at the store , I didn’t like the line clips and seeing that you had to pay extra for better easier to use clip , these Yellow birds looked like exactly what I wanted !

Only part way through this video but it occurs to me that your a one lucky guy to be able to net all the fish your wife keeps catching. 😀

Once again I enjoyed the video Dave. I’ve mostly used Church walleye boards but I also have 2 smaller Yellowbirds. This is the time of year I release my remaining crawlers and start trolling. I don’t often use flags, mainly just too cheap. I think I have 2 boards with flags rigged to come up when a fish hits. Anyhow keep ‘‘em coming. I think I’ve seen yur buddy Ronnie on wanted posters. He’s a bad ombré. ✌🏻

Ronnie skirts the edge of the law, but he is pretty harmless usually.

I just bought two a couple weeks ago! Trial run on Quemahoning dam this weekend on my kayak.

That Hodag statue looks familiar. Located 1 1/2 miles from my home. I thought I saw a blue Camaro fly by 10 days ago heading west to deliver some bait!!!

I told Ronnie to swing by Hodag Park and the paper mill dam to check out the river/Boom lake area were I caught a few muskies as a kid. Looks like he crossed the bridge over toward your side right?

Hello and the video was very informative but im a little confused on the releases. You appeared to release both clips when the board got to the boat. Do you have to fight the drag of the board as well as the fish or does it release when you set the hook or fet a solid strike? Kind of like a dipsy diver?

You can do it different ways. Some guys use one release clip and pop it loose when they get a fish. They don't use the back clip, instead they run the line through a ring. Then the board falls back to a large swivel or other stopper device. That way the board stops planning as you fight the fish. I prefer to use both clips and release them when the board reaches the boat. So yes you do fight the board for part of the retrieval. For me using both clips helps eliminates false releases. Thanks for the interest.

@Knetters Practical Outdoors thanks buddy! I have one arrivi today and I want to try the boards for Striper bass out here in Arizona. I think it'll be a good way to present bait up close to bluff walls.

New to the channel, and this type of fishing 🎣. ? At what speed do you start out with. And is there anyone lure that you prefer 🤔. Any help would be appreciated 😊

Well check out the other vids I left links for. They will help. Lures and speed largely depend on the species of fish and their activity level. For walleyes I might troll or drift at 1/2 MPH with flatfish or I might troll at 1.5 MPH with crankbaits. Another video that may help is this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CB7vQuhPRoQ.html as far as walleyes go. I use Rapala shad raps, Berkely flicker minnows, Storm Thundersticks - 1.5 to 2.0 MPH and this will catch most fish in the lakes I fish. That's a good starting point.
