The Best Non-no Hitters Ever Thrown 

*The Harvey Haddix game against the Braves in 1959 has to be the greatest and most impressive pitching performance in MLB history. An amazing 12 perfect innings before losing the perfect game in the 13th inning on a throwing error, and losing the no-hitter and game on (what was ruled) a ground-rule double. Haddix only threw 78 pitches in 9 perfect innings, and 104 pitches in 12 perfect innings. Completely unreal, considering the opponent Haddix was pitching against, **_and_** they were stealing signs. Truly remarkable.*

Haddix responded to the change in the rules by saying, "That's OK. I know what I did." At the time of the game, Lew Burdette said, "The other guy pitched the greatest game ever, and I won, so what does that make my game?"

What about Devern Hansack?

To be fair, with longer seasons, constantly changing baseballs, steroids, spider tack, stolen bases basically being given away to everyone on base, etc, etc. do *ANY* MLB records even matter anymore??? There's no way to compare games across decades anymore. It's a completely different game.

You cant take away a no hitter. Just like you cant credit QB sacks that happened before sacks became a stat in the NFL.
