Thanks so much for such a great video. We are going end of March and are also staying at Compass Cove. Looks like a great place. How was driving to Mountain Pine RIdge. We are renting a Nissan Rogue 2 wheel drive. Did you go to Caracol in a convey. I read it can be a little dangerous going by yourself. Wasn't considering the butterfly ranch but after watching your video planning to go.

Glad you like the video. The drive to Mountain Pineridge isn’t all that bad as long as the roads are dry. While we were there it had recently rained so there were a few spots that were really muddy, which can make it a bit tougher with just 2 wheel drive. My preference would have been 4WD, but were able to get by without. In regards to Caracol. We had read something similar, but after talking to some locals, they said that it’s not something to worry about. The drive is pretty long, so try and leave early to maximize your time there.

I noticed you have a drone linked to you affiliate list. I’m going there in a month and ordered a drone but saw that the Belize laws didn’t allow drone so I actually sent it back for right now. Did you guys get hassled about the drone upon arrival?

I actually didn't entirely do my homework before heading down there and just brought the drone with me. When landing at the Belize City airport, they did do a scan of the luggage as we came in, but no one stopped us and asked us about the drone. However, when I was talking with someone who lives there and also owns a drone, he was surprised that they didn't confiscate the drone when I entered and hang on to it until I came back. From that conversation with the local, it sounded like it would be easier to bring it in if you were driving into the country as opposed to flying in. I'd say if you didn't want to risk it, probably best to leave it behind. I did see that in general if you wanted to bring it, it needed to be authorized by the BDCA and only for professional purposes contracted by some local business. Which is unfortunate as there is some amazing views to be had from a drone there.

In Belize the drone is forbidden, you have to have a permit to pass it through customs, if they find out they supposedly take it away from you. I have two drones in Belize and I use them very often.

I couldn't find the, "What is this?", video on my RU-vid app, so l'll try to answer your question here. It looks to me like that object is a chain drive tranny from the 1900's to the 1930's, when they were phased out. The big rigs used an actual chain to drive the rear axle back in the day. Watch some old black abd white footage of WW1 trucks and Golden Age movies, concentrating on the drive trains of the large trucks. I'm pretty sure that is what that object is.
