Every Friday night at 9:11pm, Sheriff Bob Fletcher, Crime Analyst Pat Scott, and Deputy Joe Miller patrol the streets of Ramsey County, Minnesota while live on RU-vid & Facebook alongside thousands of backseaters. The Ramsey County Sheriff’s office has worked hard in recent years to facilitate the integration of transparency in the workplace. Not only is the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office one of the most diverse law enforcement agencies in the country, but it is also one of the most transparent. The RCSO is one of the first law enforcement agencies in the United States to broadcast their interactions with the community live in order to increase transparency and public relations. Over the past year, Live on Patrol has successfully strengthened the relationship between the community and police. According to Sheriff Fletcher, “Some elected officials are opposed to ‘Live on Patrol’ because it builds trust with the police and that runs counter to their narrative to defund law enforcement. Many council members would prefer the public not be aware of the current increase in violent crime. They are opposed to transparency when it reflects on their failure to keep the community safe.”
