Philip Michael Thomas invented the term EGOT to describe the achievement (that, to date, Rita Moreno and 15 others have achieved) of winning an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony for acting. Thomas planned to accomplish this task himself within five years, but ultimately he never received a nomination for any of the awards. Such an iconic episode, and literally one of my favorite shows, with my favorite artist. Amazing to see how young Phil was, and how time flies. Such a talented guy. Legends like Phil are once in a lifetime, and this collaboration was legendary, and so glad it happend. I'll never forget it. Such a theme.

Phil is one of my favourite musicians that have played huge role in TV shows and games. Especially in Miami Vice and GTA Vice City Stories. And his best songs in the GTA franchise.

The soundtrack LP went to #1 and stayed there for 12 weeks, making it the most successful TV soundtrack of all time. Jan Hammer received a congratulatory phone call from Henry Mancini, whose music from "Peter Gunn (1958)" was the previous record holder (it was #1 for 10 weeks in 1959).

MV was so leading edge in so many ways. Chase scenes with supercars that looked like music videos. Having major pop and rock stars act. Models. Not done today. NO TV show has made such an impact on TV and one city (Miami).

One of my favorite Switek/Zito episodes! Those two guys were the comic relief of the show. Sadly, Zito's death later on in the series was the catalyst for Switek's downward spiral. You could tell that when Zito was killed, a huge part of Switek died, too. 😔😢

The Rat Race song is actually a song of his called “The Man With The Horn” with the lyrics changed. It was never on an album but was a B side for two singles off his No Jacket Required album.

As his music was used very often in the first season, it only made sense to have Phil Collins in the 2nd Season episode "Rat Race." Collins plays the slimy gameshow host Phil to perfection. It's a shame he didn't get a chance to reappear again like some of the other stars that appeared on Vice.🍉🍉💥💥

Surprised they didn’t add in the epic nod to Elvis at the end when Stan and Lar are at Stan’s apartment-the television is on, and Phil appears on one of the channels posing as a faith healer attempting to convince viewers to send in money. In true Elvis fashion, Stan pulls out his revolver, and shoots the television screen.

Brooke shields would’ve also been a great classic example on the TV show if she decided to go back acting her career before 1987, but she wanted to finish her studies at Princeton university and therefore she narrowed her choices debating weather she will act again or not.
