About the newspaper a quick google search yielded that the library of Virginia has copies of the Coalfield Progress from 1924-Present. Accordingly I'm pretty sure you could call the library and ask for a copy of the July 4th paper that you are looking for.

I have a really vague memory of M%Ms meaning something, but it wasn't connected outright to sex, it was more like if a girl gave you a green one she liked you or something. But there may be regional differences too, because I grew up in the Midwest not down South.

I really hate the subtitles. I bet people who don't speak English and rely on the auto-subtitles hate it even more since I think they'd make reading the computer generated subtitles in their language harder to read.

Green and Purple were the horny colors. Red ones caused cancer. About all I recall. And some rock bands had checks of only certain color M&Ms just to verify that they read the contract.

I don't know how things work in america, but a town council might have kept an archive of these things. It could probably be found there in the archives.

Loving this series. There's always good memories mixed in with the bad ones and seeing your past I'm sure is making some of us nostalgic to see our own home towns for the first time in years with fresh eyes and remembering some of the good times. In my home town I have a theater that i personally helped with restoring. Our local park has a stage that I personally helped build. We decorate for an art festival every year and decorations for christmas and I used to help set those up. I have memories all over that town and I made an impact on it even if most people will never know who I was. I had local business owners as great mentors who helped make me the caring and helpful person I am today who taught me the value that a couple of dedicated citizens can make a massive impact on the quality of your community. Not gonna lie I wanted to see you go out on that basketball court and at least dribble and shoot a ball a little just to say that you did so at least once in your life.

The best thing I ever did was visit where I grew up and found that the fond memories tended to scream louder than the bad. I also found.. that what I thought was once a decent sized town, was now a very small isolated town that has charm. What once was the big expansive field or school in reality, was a very small building and a small marching field for school compared to the cities. I will keep it in my heart forever.

I was raised on that American Dream concept from TV... And you are sparking that vibe in my heart again...
