When WPLJ goes away by May 31st, I will present to you a series commercials used for WPLJ during the last 40+ years as New York's memorable station. I have a total of 35 commercials beginning from "New York's Best Rock" to "Power 95", to "95.5 WPLJ" all the way to the end. What a trip back through Memory Lane.
I hope you all enjoy these commercials as we paid tribute to WPLJ. The station will end by May 31st, ending a 48-year run as New York's legendary station. The station will become K-Love by June 1st. Say goodbye to WPLJ forever.

WPLJ flipped to a CHR (Contemporary Hit Radio) station in 1983-That was a year after sister station WABC went from being a top forty powerhouse to an all-talk station.

I would have to say that a lot of commercials were left out. The pure radio IDs were the best..ELP, Steely Dan, Zeppelin. It was my entre into FM format and eventual move to WNEW. As a kid, listened to WABC, not knowing it was shit. FM was an epiphany. All gone now. Actually for at least 20 years. Hard to believe. My last stops were WBAI(which always felt too left for me) and WSOU from Seton Hall for Dead tapes(usually sound board). Heady times they were.

To whom it may concern, That video compilation of (New York's discontinued radio station) WPLJ 95.5 FM is incomplete. You and your video staff members forgot to include the WPLJ-FM TV commercials from the year of 1973. Now if you are planning to do an updated compilation of WPLJ-FM's TV commercials, please remember to do two important things: 1. Be sure to include all the WPLJ-FM television commercials from 1973 to 1976. 2. Be sure to choose only the 30-second TV commercials for the radio station. Here's something you're not considering, Powell. TV commercials in general (especially for radio stations and/or record releases) from anytime before the mid-1980s) can be quite rare to get a hold of and more than likely, the uploader does not have those commercials on hand... just like he didn't include the also (surprisingly) extremely rare MOJO RADIO-era commercials from 1990 -- which have YET to surface on RU-vid and obviously, this channel probably doesn't have access to either.
