About a million years ago (35 actually ) I had a summer job a Merck. My job was to catalogue plant sap samples they had gotten from trees from all over the world. There were enough of them to keep me busy for the summer. I cataloged them and aliquoted them so that scientists could test them for activity against various diseases. So yes, pharma knows that plants are the answer

I went to a low-carb, fasting, and Berberine plan over 4 months ago and I lost over 30 pounds in the first 2 months and another 15 pounds in the next 2 months. I feel much better, and all of the signs of fatty liver went away. I am down 5 sizes in my pants and 2 sizes in my shirts. Berberine has been fantastic for me and I never get hungry and I actually have to remind myself to eat all of the time. I reduced my BP medicine and I expect that I may have to get it adjusted again before I reach my goal of losing another 20 pounds. I am 6 foot tall and started at 235 pounds. Great video.

I had bouts of gastroparesis since I had my gallbladder out when I was a teenager. The only side effect I’ve had from the shot is mild constipation & it’s straightened itself out within a day or so. The hardest part about dieting--telling your wife that you won't be eating dinner with the family. I changed to a very loose interpretation of intermittent fasting--I cheat often--and have dropped 30 pounds without even thinking about it. It's literally changing my life. Listening to Dr. Berg caused the change, along with talking with my friend who lived through Stage IV cancer, and used fasting as a strategy. Just do it.

She laughed and said no way could she mentally give up her favorite things. The good news is I lost 10 pounds but I mean, at what cost? I had to take a day off of work because I felt so sick so never again. My issue with these injectable drugs is that they do little to deal with the psychological aspects of over-eating/binge eating. We all know (many of us from bitter experience) that we are fat and unhealthy because we eat too much of the wrong type of food. High sugar/ultra-processed food is often what we turn to when stressed or in an emotionally fragile place. Changing not only WHAT we eat but how and when we eat is the answer. Recognising the triggers that lead to emotional over-eating is key. An injection won’t help with any of that. Once you stop the injections, you’ll probably just return to the bad eating habits with commensurate weight regain and health issues returning. I will definitely check out the ginseng and berberine!

The whole point of ozempic is that it deals with the 'psychological aspects of over-eating/binge eating'. it makes you feel full and stop you thinking about food. Hence you eat less and lose weight. You are right that once injections stop, pre-ozempic eating habits come back. It's nice to think that we, as the human race, can overcome our unhealthy relationship with food with sheer will power, but statistical trends show otherwise.

I tried ozempic. I took it on and off for 4 months. I went from 235 to 188. I stopped it and about a year later I was up to 225. So I did it again for about 3 months. But this time I only got down to 211. I also was eating zofran like M&M’s! My hair was very long coarse and super thick. I loved my hair! But it started breaking off just below my shoulders and falling out. I have 1/3 of the hair I had. It won’t get any longer and for about a year it went from straight to kinky fuzzy! I refused to go anywhere for a year because I was so ashamed. But the worst part was the last shot put me in the bed for 6 weeks! If I rolled over I felt like I was going to throw up. Going to the bathroom I felt like I was going to pass out and would have to sit down halfway there and back. I’ve never been that miserable in my life! I was beginning to think I was gonna die. It scared me so bad I’ll NEVER take it again! I usually don’t take any meds until they’ve been on the market for a few years so we know more about them. But after turning 40 my usual calorie counting wasn’t working. I just couldn’t get the weight off I’d gained since turning 40. I’ve never been overweight! Until 40. I’m disabled now because I developed lupus at age 32. I don’t see my friends that often because they work. I didn’t want anyone to see me. I just knew they would be thinking, wow! She’s really let herself go. But what I went thru with Ozempic was way worse than my embarrassment over the weight gain. I’m going to try the berberine and panax ginseng. I’m also going to start a carnivore diet. I’ve been researching it a lot and some people get 100% relief from their autoimmune disease. Plus they say the energy levels skyrocket. I need all of that! I just wish I could find a local farmer who raised cattle without antibiotics, hormones, & steroids. I’ve found some online but just ground beef is $10 per pound. I just can’t afford that. I’ll do the best I can with store bought. If you are considering Ozempic just for weight loss find something else. It’s not worth it!

I love your videos. I also take Ozempic for severe insulin resistance. I work with a very knowledgeable bariatric doctor who combines this drug with a low carb diet and intermittent fasting. I have no noticeable side effects. I’m getting good results with the program I’m on at .50 of the normal prescribed dose. I ramped up very slowly to this over a few months to avoid the side effects some people get. My doctor explained to me that this is a genetic problem and I may have to stay on the drug long term. This has given me back my life. I can see this drug being a problem in the wrong hands. It’s very important to have a doctor that really understands the science and will guide you. I am no longer obese. I cannot tell you how much I tried prior to this and failed and how grateful I am to have a doctor that understands my issue and is willing to work with me

I also have narcolepsy and ADHD - so taking a stimulant medication basically creates intermittent fasting. I’m due to take my third dose and dreading it. Oh, and did I say, I have Graves Disease and have a history of Breast Cancer. With all this and fibromyalgia- I just don’t think this is the right way to go. I’m hearing that Aloe Vera also lowers blood Glucose. P. Ginseng is in Energy Drinks and don’t cause me problems. Really don’t need all the flatulence, loose stools and increase in belching and acid. Start consuming high quality collagen whether real animal products like bone broth or high quality powder, get some vitamin c in to activate it, lemon, limes, oranges, veggies etc, if you are keto/low carb you won’t need too much vitamin c. Start taking trace minerals, figure out you salt intake needs.

I did a lot of research and ultimately settled on intermittent fasting (mostly 16/8) and a modified keto diet (not really keto, but just eating fewer carbs and only "good" carbs) as a new lifestyle I could live with. I almost immediately saw improvements in brain function, sleep, energy, marked lessening of my decades-long GERD, and, in 6 weeks time, have also lost more than 10 pounds of the 40 pounds I would like to ultimately lose.

What it can do it help give you the freedom from cravings to create foundational changes to your diet and lifestyle. But eventually you will have to come off and you will gain a bit of weight. Just a caution for those of you trying to lose weight who don't have insulin problems - berberine is EXTREMELY effective, like pass out from low blood sugar effective. I know people who have full blown replaced their medication with it. So it can be great, but I would treat it like an actual medication - speaking from experience.

Ozempic was a game changer for my prediabetes. I don't seem to respond to metformin. For me Ozempic was a last resort. I had mild side effects the first couple of weeks. The constipation was the toughest part but resolved itself with some dietary changes. The weigh loss was a happy side effect. Being menapausal makes weight loss much more challenging. Intermitten fasting wasn't possible with my A1c all over the place. Now I can fast without a second thought !

I think the 50 and older crowd are benefitting tremendously from Semaglutide weight loss. My husband and I are eating extremely healthy and very much in control of what we eat without the food chatter and mental battle since we have been taking Semaglutide. I have tried the supplements but it does not give you the control you get with Semaglutide. We also do not drink alcohol like we used to and not craving anything but healthy foods. We prefer the Mediterranian diet. It has also lowered my cholesterol and my blood pressure is back to normal which is allowing me to get off those medications. Insulin resistance is real and I have not found anything else that really works for me and my husband.

I'm on Zepbound and the amount of muscle I've lost is astounding. The only time I lose weight on this medication is when I fast for 24-48 hrs because of lack of appetite. I'm going to try to fast without the help of this medication, eventually.

I've been keto (on and off) for 30 years, but now that I'm turning 57 this year, I need that little extra edge to lose some visceral fat...so I'm on Ozempic. And the truth is that I live and work in Kuwait, so I can buy the real stuff OTC for $100/month!!! And let me tell ya - it works and it's absolutely the BEST, most effective stuff I've ever taken (besides Dr. Berg's Hair Formula (shameless plug intended!)) lol But my plan, after I'm done losing what visceral fat I have collected, is to go back and do EXACTLY as Dr. Berg suggests. I've known about these supplements he's speaking of for years and tested them, too...but now that's he's succinctly explained them - well, I'm very appreciative of getting handed my follow-up plan "after Ozempic". THANK YOU Dr. Berg! :)

I am trying to get my doctor give me a permission to stop Ozempic because of the stomach pain side effect and bad acid reflux. He's very reluctant to do so becausse my a1c has come down significantly while on Ozempic. My weight has stayed the same. I just don't feel the better a1c balance is worth the reduction in life quality.

The lower blood sugar can help you loose weight tho. Maybe you should give it more time or get a second opinion. And don't ask nobody for permissions, if it makes you sick and there's not enough benefit, throw it in the trash. It's your body.

LOve your videos and the alternative explanations of how things work. I have been battling all my life with appetite cravings which i have to state is different than being hungry. i can have extreme cravings on a full stomach. due to accute stress the past two years have been extreme in terms of binge eating. i gained 20 kg and developed fatty liver in only two months. those cravings just wouldn't stop as well as my thoughts around food 24/7 and the only thing that managed at least temporarily to stop it was ozempic (due to its effects on the hypothalamus has worked for other addictions too). Ozempic cut cravings and even hunger. that helped me easily do intermittent fasting and choose healthy foods and lose around 13kg. the thing is if i stop it the carvings come back. what else is there as an alternative with such dramatic effect on binge eating?(the only other thing i know are amfetamines). dietary guidelines and fasting fail when the cravings are active cause they cannot be applied. i would love your oppinion on this cause i struggle so many years. thanks again for the great content!!!

So I'm trying wegovy .so far 25 lost. I'd much rather NOT take it though. It was just frustrating watch all my weight come back

I was wondering whether you had put out a video about this and here it is! I have considered taking the shot several times but for some reason I always change my mind. I have been taking Berberine for almost a year (approved by my PCP) and I’ve lost about 10 pounds and my A1C dropped from 6.4 to 5.7. He had wanted me to start Metformin and I asked if instead of Metformin I take Berberine. He was shocked when he saw the results and told me to keep doing what I’m doing. Also, this has been without me making any changes to my exercise or diet. But I do eat low carb (ish) for the most part. I could definitely do better in that regard.

An additional downside of Ozempic is patients that have been on it and require surgery. Even though they were fasting since midnight the night prior to surgery, their stomachs never emptied of food, and some have aspirated on stomach contents during surgery because anesthesia often causes patients to vomit.

He couldn't because there are not enough studies about barberine for example - of how safe they are.. there is a small study that shows that if you take it for 3 months you lose weight but they don't know for long term.. I guess we will wait and see. and also not recommend if you have an inflammatory disease in the gut like diarrhea or history with kidney stones.

Berberine supplements gives me the same side effects as Metformin, which is dizziness, nervous feeling so bad I can’t drive, fainting, and seizure. It took 5 yrs for Metformin to get out of my system, I know this bc that’s when I could drive over high fwy bridges and not freak out. I have never had that driving problem prior to that meds.
