I love all the comments about cross contamination and such. Yes i'm Italian, no i'm not triggered by those comments. The kind of ingredients he's cutting on that board are bread, veggies, cheese, and cured meat. Cross contamination only happens with RAW meat or fish, because of the bacteria on/in the meat, if he was cutting RAW chicken, i would understand all the fuss, but with cured meat, that's not the case at all. In cured meat the amount of bacteria is 0, everything gets killed by the salt and the curing process and that's why you can eat stuff like salami, coppa, prosciutto and so on. Beside that, it's really funny to think how some people want everything to be cut on a different cutting board, but then they'd eat everything smushed inside a sandwhich.... as if it's not okay to cut em on the same cutting board, but it's okay to chew everything and let it sit in your stomach lol
I had the chance to try this panino in Siracusa 5-6 years ago, I will never forget. Went direct from the airport before goin to my hotel, such a nice food and nice people.
Since you are Sicilian, I would be very interested to have your opinion on the panino that I just made and posted to my channel, per favore! Cheers, from Canada! =)
@@alepazzo1559 Thank you so much!! It was, in all honesty, the best sandwich I ever ate. Haha! Out of curiosity I made one later with Canadian substitutes, and it wasn't nearly as good. Quality Italian ingredients make a HUGE difference! (Which is depressing for me, as a Canadian, actually...) Cheers!
This is why in heaven all the chefs are Italian...I was pretty much salivating waiting for him to put those sandwiches in the panini press. Great post..thanks!
Panino simply means "Sandwich" or "roll" Panini is plural- "sandwiches" ...."a panini" doesn't make sense in Italy. I'm not sure who's idea it was to make it a singular word.
Blind Archangel & Spaghetti ( I strand = spaghetto) and so on :). The only time the singular and plural don't change is when the last letter is stressed or the word is borrowed ....like Caffè or picnic
@@msmilano7091 So true! I just made a panino on my my channel, very much like they do in Sicily, and viewers were saying, "That's an amazing panini sandwich!" That is like saying, "an amazing sandwich sandwiches sandwich!" Like, what?? Hahaha
Now this is what you call a sandwich! It is like an art form for Italians creating Panini’s! Funny when he says can I sprinkle a little cheese when he has all kinds of cheese already in the sandwich!
You don't need the "S" Panino - 1 sandwich Panini 2+ sandwiches It's the same with Cannoli .... 1 Cannolo 2 Cannoli Spaghetti: 1 string -Spaghetto Lots of strings -Spaghetti ....and so on.
I used to live in Siracusa 42 years ago , I loved the food , now that I’m old I love to go back there . However w this strict lock down in Melbourne, I would say would be a while before I get there ciao xoxo
Three words my man, mis en place. The patrons could have been served much faster with no sacrifice of quality. I repeat myself, no sacrifice of quality.
This is where I go to buy my cheese. The guy gives me some extra bread and he only charges for the bread its weird. It doesn't seem to make sense economically but I am a happy costumer.
My friend ate one dish, it was like a sandwich, but with cheese totally covering the outside of the sandwich. You could not see the bread, infact I am not sure if there was any bread inside, it was as thick as lasagna, but it was not. I thought that was panini. Any idea what dish he had? (Sorry but I am unable to ask him now)

I too am Italian, we are not that concerned with cross contamination, we are more concerned with what the animal was fed before if became cured meat, if the cheese was with whole milk, and did not have enough antibiotics in it to rescue a small nation. There are no raw meats in that deli, and by the time you are an adult you should have enough of your own antibodies to protect you if you are eating right.
I have only had mortadella once, on accident (a happy accident) because I asked for bologna. Ot was with pistachio. Awesome! The rest of my life, I ordered it and it was no accident!
Im so Happy to live 10km from border with Italy,so all of this food is avaliable to me,together with our slovenian-Balkan food! Two of the best. If Id live in some india Id kill myself if Id see this video lol
Do you think that you can find this quantity of food at this price, near your border in Italy? Totally wrong. This video is made in Sicily, one of cheapest region of Italy (like the others regions of the South). A “panino” in this shop costs 5-6 euros...forget this prices for these quantities in the North of Italy.
