Very informative video. Well done by you for a lots of perfum lovers out there who are trying to design their own perfums at home and I am one of them. I use carrier oil for my fragrances but first time I decided to use alcohol as a carrier after watching your videos and bought ethanol 95% (made from corn and sugarcane here in Melbourne) with 5% water, and bitrix as denaturant. This alcohol smells so strong that even at 20% perfum 80% alcohol ratio, for few seconds after the spray, you can still smell it with your perfum mixture. How to fix this issue? Why these branded perfums don’t have alcohol smell at all in there perfums ? Your guidance will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your reply. 🙏🏻😊
@Whiffly
@Whiffly 2 года назад
Hey Sarmad! I'm glad you're enjoying my content 🙂 So, I had run into a similar issue in regards to the solutions I've created a little while back, specifically the Calone Solution. Aging is the key to allow the scent molecules to bond with your alcohol. If the concentration and aging for a longer duration (1+ Months without removing the cap to test) doesn't help, I'd suggest possibly trying another perfumers Alcohol. Aging my scents for longer, without disruption has helped a lot.

Hello, may I ask? What is the % concentration of Ethanol, Isopropyl Myristate, Mono Propylene Glycol?
@Whiffly
@Whiffly 2 года назад
It all depends on what you're trying to achieve with your fragrance. You'll want your mixture to contain mostly Ethanol. If you don't need to dilute the fragrance, I wouldn't suggest adding Mono Propylene Glycol at all. May damage projection.

What are the differences or benefits between perfumer’s alcohol and Everclear when making perfume oil dupes into sprayable format? Is there a difference in the perfume oil’s performance on the skin?
@Whiffly

You want the most pure ethanol you can get your hands on. Everclear is fine for personal use, but if you plan on selling your final product, you'll want to use a perfumery grade alcohol as it is much cheaper.

Very informative. I can purchase 96% ethanol because I live close to a distillery. Do I have to denature it for use in perfumes? Or can I proceed without denaturing it? I guess what i'm asking is that is there any of the denaturing ingredient that adds anything beneficial to a perfume? or are the ingredients only to prevent consumption?
@Whiffly

That's a great question! Like you said, I believe the denaturants are mainly used just to avoid consumption and taxes related to alcohol and tobacco in its raw form before blending ingredients. Pure ethanol is definitely ideal if you have the connection 🙂

@Whiffly

Hey! You'll want to decide if you're using a carrier oil (oil based scents) or using Alcohol as the carrier itself. The rest all depends on what classification you're looking to achieve. EDC (2-4%) EDT (5-15%) EDP (15-20%).
