In 2000, Pedro had a 1.74 ERA that led the American League against hitters who used performance-enhancing drugs. The pitcher with the second-best 3.70 ERA after Pedro was Roger Clemens, who also used steroids. This is just one example of what a great pitcher Pedro was.

Martinez and Johnson on the mound from 1997-2002 was basically a foregone conclusion - you either saw a hit in the first or you'd see nothing for eight innings.

I would have gone with the Big Unit not only for his prowess but also his intensity and intimidating figure, but I can’t complain that they chose Pedro.

I LOVED Randy Johnson, and I got to witness Pedro here in Boston and i can tell you, we hung on every pitch of his. That was a fun time to be a Sox fan

I can’t understand how randy Johnson just changed his stuff that late in his career imagined what would he be if he was a late bloomer because he really only started dominating at the late age of like 35. Just imagine if he had started way earlier.

99-01 Pedro had the greatest stuff I've ever seen -- high-90's fastball, All Star-caliber curveball, and the greatest change-up in MLB history, all with significant movement yet pinpoint control. He was unhittable.

Yea I remember Pedro Martinez in his prime. He was the only pitcher the Yankees, who were also strong during that time, were always afraid of. One of the dominant pitchers of his time for sure.

I'm a Yankee fan and there was no pitcher better than Pedro at that and this time. And he did all this in the Steroid Era when everyone was hitting 40 HR's or better. Nasty!!!

Pedro was a force of nature, beyond next-level in his prime. Statistically, his 99 & 2000 seasons were the best of all-time by a shocking degree

Kevin Brown is very under rated. It was nice to see him get mentioned. He was a big time pitcher and never wanted to see my team face him.

Randy Johnson was insane. In his prime years I dont think there's ever been a better pitcher. His fastest pitch was 102mph but he is 6'10 so it must of felt like 104-105 mph.

Dellin Betances has the best FIP- (56, lower is better) since integration of pitchers with at least 350 IP. Shame about the injuries.

I never saw Kofax.. But.. I've never seen a pitcher "mow down" batters like Pedro.. Unfortunately, you have to be a little bigger to sustain that speed. He didnt last long as a consequence.. Best pitcher Ive seen in my 45+ years.

Ryan and Gibson no one today or ever will match their tenacity, longevity, and competitiveness. Gibson played for the Harlem Globetrotters and was a Boxing Gold Glove Champion. All Nolan Ryan did was wrestle 1500lbs bulls, take ‘‘em down and brand them. Yeah you guys don’t know tough.
