The BEST PlayStation Vita Racing Games Were Built Different... 

I remember playing NFS Most Wanted (2012) and Killzone Mercenary on the Vita. Good times.

Majority of us on here never experienced the PSVita. The damn thing was so expensive back in the day it was crazy

The biggest problem with the vita was the price. You had to buy the prapiratary sd card to actually play games that cost nearly half the price of the vita

My whole childhood is the PS Vita... It was the only console i got from my parents when i was a kid. And i LOVED it. NFS MW 2012 on Vita is the game i played day and night. I dont want to know how many hours i got on that game. I could really cry from nostalgia and how this game shaped my childhood. I love it how all the things that people hate about the game (crash cam, input lag etc.) never really bothered me. I just took the game as it was. And the controls are anchored deep in my brain, muscle memory at its finest. Im also the person that plays rally games on Vita lmao... I played WRC Rally 5. Also ModNation Racers was a killer. The track editor was actually extremely good. Changing every detail of the surface and style od the track was so well done. I just love that thing and im happy that mine still works. I already know that the day it stops working will be a very dark and rainy one.

Sony absolutely needs to make a modern version of the Vita

Jailbroken PSvita is able mirror the screen to your OBS, so you can play games the original way while recording!!!

PS2 was my first ever console and i ADORED IT! Then when i got my first PSP i was in heaven... playing motorstorm/nfs etc. during class with friends... good times!! Never got a Vita, but i'm really thinking about getting one. I wish Sony made another PSP..

Loved both the PSP and Vita, even if I didn't own the Vita playing Ridge Racer on that was a damn blast.

6:55 cassia is a project that's currently in the works, it uses a bunch of translation layers to bring x86 windows games to arm/android devices. It's a really interesting project considering what modern phones are capable of nowadays. The devs previously worked on one of the switch emulators before they got [loved] by Nintendo lawyers, so they know what they are doing.

I loved the Most Wanted on the vita but when they decided to reduce the racers in each race to 4 or 6 it sucked. Lots of races had over 6 or up to 15 racers in one race

PS Vita doubling as a PSP when u hack it just makes it like, the best portable for racing games coz you get access to both the ps vita's good offerings AND the psp's good offerings too

I love Ridge Racer Vita, It was one of my first games, with all DLC the game is fantastic, Full rooms all the time at launch, just solid, great arcade racing with ridiculous soundtrack. I still play it from time to time, if anyone wants to fire up a room (even if we have to grind you to lvl 10) lets do it!

I remember getting the plat for wipeout 2048,it took me an entire summer but it was well worth it

You should do a let's play on Ridge Racer PSP or WipEout Pure. WipEout 2048 was easily my most favorite racing game on the Vita, with Ridge Racer coming in at a close second.

after getting the ally its a perfect PSP replacement i ever wanted.. can emulate any old PS titles and most of them play extremely well at 10w output so even squezing 3+ hours easily on battery playing those older titles

Omd i literally grew up with rdgrcr vita best game of all time of my age (on a portable console) i remember you had to do a certain thing to unlock two cars to unlock the crinale you had to win against all three ghost cars in all three tracks then do the duel with the crinale then you have to do the duel with the angelus then youve finished the game and another thing is you Can buy the daytona nascar and other machines and tracks which i didnt understand why they made it paid content

My classic PSP now defunct had games titles such as NFS, Burnout and Wipeout series😂. The best racing game with good physics model was Flatout😮. Also I can replay some classic PSP games over PPSSPP emulator. I think PS Vita came into wrong time when accessible mobile gaming was gaining traction. In my region PS Vita was considered a luxury gadget😂

i actually got the platinum trophy on PS3 for NFS MW2012 a few weeks ago (Yes, 12 years later 😭) but also recently got the game working on my M2 Max Macbook Pro on different ways : - Crossover with Dxvk or Apple game porting toolkit (from crossover launcher since i need it's steam and EA bottles, otherwise EA services won't start from the steam version running from Gptk itself). This method is basically a translation of windows graphics, api calls... to Mac version through Rosetta 2, while extremely impressive the game runs at all... Unfortunately the game shows graphical issues with heavy flickering 30-40% of gameplay on top of having audio issues where almost any audio would repeat between 2 to 5 times every 10 secs... - Parallels Desktop (Virtualization of windows arm, which itself is emulating Windows X86), the game runs extremely well without any graphical or audio issues, also considering all the layers of emulation (i've gotten 4K60Fps to work with everything on low except with shadows enabled) or medium settings with shadows disabled (still 4K60) Due to the way virtualization works, changing resolution doesn't help as much as a normally optimized environment (windows on a windows Pc) but very respectable performance, way better than running on PS3 or Xbox 360 so i'm more than happy to restart a new playthrough on my Mac (i don't own a Windows Pc) Anyways, all that to say : my childhood is back 🥹🔥

STORY TIME Almost a year ago i finished 12th grade and graduated from school a few days after my graduation i helped my cousin move boxes to his new house and then a box fell which contained the ps vita he had in 2013. He told me take it i don't need it anymore so i did and bought a charger and modded the hell out of it + 128gb micro sd card. And honestly for an old portable console it’s just way ahead of its time it doesn't feel outdated and Im enjoying the hell out of it!!! Not only that my friends all loved the vita and now 5 of my friends each one of them owns a vita but they all have the slim models.

Hey since you're talking about the future of running x86 on ARMs, there's this thing on android called winlator which basically lets you run windows programs on android, people have tested it on some devices with devices with snapdragon chipsets, and I've seen people running Fall Out 4 on their phone/tablet with it, stable 30-60 FPS with lowest settings of course but still impressive nonetheless. It's kind of like VirtualBox but on Android

To be honest, if Namco doesn't plan on making a new Ridge Racer, I wish they would just sell it to Raw Thrills or Milestone S.r.l. Raw Thrills created Super Alpine Racer, and Milestone S.r.l. created Screamer.

I own a VITA and Most Wanted and it was a lot of fun. Damn shame it never got any DLC. I also have Borderlands 2 for VITA and I enjoy it.

Sony said that they not interest in portable gaming because "mobile is overtaking the market", thats why they leave portable devices, but we still haven't seen and completed AAA single player ARCADE racing game, with full compaign and without any microtransactions, and also that not being a cheap copy version of bigger version which is being to be paid promotion of bigger version (im about mobile version of NFS MW)

I love the ps vita but the proprietary memory card killed it. Which is why some people modded it to use regular sd cards. Plus the homebrew people are porting android games to the vita. And one more thing, we are getting closer to running x86 games on arm processors through an app called winlator.

The only reason I played vita was because the gundam breaker game the three of us all shared. Adhoc is the only saving grace of that system.

As someone who bought all 3 WRC games for the vita, 4 is definitely the better one: 3 sacrificed visuals too much for performance and 5 was when big ben ditched milestone for kylotonn, visuals, sounds, handling and performance are horrible there and they didn't deliver a lot of promised features for the Vita. It took them until WRC 7 to make a decent one and only on 8 they got it right. And yeah neither the vita or the switch are ideal for racing games but they were where I played these titles the most simply because I could carry them everywhere.

Such a shame that on Ridge Racer (PSVITA) most tracks and cars were locked behind microtransactions :/ Hope they revive the series somehow, but I doubt it. Edit: Not to forget Gravity Rush, such was a banger but unfortunately they cancelled it 💀

I’m the person who likes to play rally games portable, I normally play WRC 5 on my vita because even though the environment is better on 4 the aliasing really annoys me. Also you kept saying how the vita is the best way to play PSP but most PSP games I want to play just crash (Midnight Club and NFS mainly)

I have CFW on my Vita. Have access to PKG which allows you to see a full list of every game, DLC, themes and avatars from all regions, ever released. NFS Most Wanted is cool but the resolution is so bad. Draw distance too. Too poor for racing games that have a lot going on and fast paced.

Ridge Racer Vita had beautiful graphics and was also fun but as much as I hate to admit it, for me, Ridge Racer Vita was when the game series truly started to fall off. IMO It's one of the worst Ridge Racer games ever released (save for Unbounded) because the game was basically released INCOMPLETE. The full content of the game included around 9 tracks and 13 different cars including 2 secret ones unlocked through an online feature. The game released with 1/3 of the full content with the remainder being released as DLCs. Same thing with the music soundtracks. The game did away with the campaign mode, instead only using single races/online races instead to build levels/prestige. It was an affront to the reputation that Ridge Racer built up over the years. It should be noted that during this time Bandai was in the process of the company merge with Namco. Bandai, which is mainly an entertainment-focused company, underwent a mass purge of Namco's previous teams, resulting in almost all of Namco's old IPs/games being either lost, or reduced to a horrible state of its past form. This was also the beginning of Bandai Namco's infamous streaks on microtranscations, and their focus on anime/mainstream games instead of Namco's more unique arcade-style home console games. It is incredibly sad to see what Ridge Racer has become and unfortunately I don't think there will be any hope of the game returning back to its roots/true form, as the game has generally become forgotten in the racing community altogether.
