I'm getting my 110 in a few days. Thanks for all of your insights and tips. I'm a bit older and have bad knees, so the stand-up assist strap will be very helpful!
My 110 just arrived today and boy is it impressive. That extra couple of inches of width didn't sound like it'd make much of a difference, but this thing is WIDE and looks like it's going to be extremely stable on the water. The only downside is that while it doesn't weigh a ton the extra bulk does make it feel like loading it on my roof rack may be a little tedious, but we'll see. Worst case scenario I'll have to borrow someone's truck to move it. No biggie. It definitely feels like a quality kayak and the only way it'll tip is either from carelessness or on purpose. Your videos on it were instrumental for me pulling the trigger on the purchase. Pelican should hire/sponsor you.
I wish Pelican would sponsor me, that would be great. I love that you found my video very helpful and it helped you make a decision that I believe you will not regret. I'm actually taking it trout fishing on a river tomorrow and I am interested to see how it performs in the Class 1 rapids and I will also show how I load it on top of my SUV's roof rack. So stay tuned for that video. I appreciate you watching!
@@fishingistherapy I'll keep my eyes open for it. Luckily I only have to deal with very calm water, but I am very curious about how it'll deal with rapids. I'm a sucker for versatility and seeing how the 110 does in some fast moving water. Hope you load up on some good eating trout, too!
Your going to enjoy this kayak, I'm taking it on a class 1 river float this Saturday, stay tuned to see how it performs. I appreciate you watching, more to come soon!
Just bought myself one this past weekend. Maiden voyage was with my dog. He gets the front while i'm fishing. Plenty of room for him, and all of my stuff, including Cooler. Maybe one more trip out for him to get used to things, and then we're going to try fishing. Wish us luck. Enjoying the videos help me to decide Which One I decided to purchase.
Awesome, im glad you found value in the video and it helped you with your decision. Its a spacious yak and I know your dog had plenty of space up front, its awesome to have that ability on a yak. Good luck out there, im sure you will have a blast and catch some good fish. Let me know how it goes, tightlines!
Your enthusiasm for this Kayak helped me make my decision to get the same one. Would love a follow up video talking about adjustments you would make to your mods if you knew then what you know now. For instance, your standup assist - did you nail the length right out of the gate or should it have been shorter or longer. I am also 6’2”. Thanks for the videos!
Yo man, great channel and videos. Love your positive enthusiasm and very helpful ideas. You're high-speed/low-drag. I love to fish and we have a few rivers and many ponds, lakes and reservoirs within 20-50 miles from me, so after researching for days I finally decided on the Catch Mode 110. Got it on sale at Academy for $664 (with 5% off using their credit card). Well, I ordered it yesterday but it won't be ready to pickup until this weekend. So now I'm getting ready by looking up videos and found yours first. Great stuff man, can't thank you enough for taking the time to go over everything! I'm 55 years old, 6'3" 280lbs and have had three back surgeries, so I'm really hoping that I'll be able to sit for hours on that really versatile and comfy seat. The stand-up handle is clutch man, I'm hoping that it'll help me enough to get onto my feet rather than into the water... Anyway, great work bro - keep it up! Peace and God bless
Man thats great to hear. Glad you decided to purchase the yak. I think you will enjoy it and it will suit your needs. The seat is by far my favorite accessory about the yak in addition to the stand up assist strap. I love that after I fish in this yak my back isnt sore or tired. Get out there and get that therapy! I appreciate you watching, thanks for reaching out.
Great video! I am looking to purchase this kayak and the videos you have posted on this model have me sold. I love your mods, very good ideas. Thanks for posting!
Glad the video helped. Its definitely a sturdy yak and will hold youf dog easily. Hard to beat a stable platform lkke this for the money. I appreciate you watching.
Yes Sir! I got a pelican fishing kayak catch mode 110 coming in a few days from now., And soon i'll be getting it all fixed up, and ready to be heading out to the lake to do some fishing! Ah, Yes! I can't wait! 👍😃🎣🐟🎉🎉
I would echo that sentiment. It had all the features I need and wanted, plus a few additions. For the price point......it's hard to beat, in my opinion.
Have you seen or heard of yak gear they have a 4 rod holder that's adjustable and keeps your rods flush along the side of your kayak instead of having them stick straight up
Yes I heard and seen them. This yak has the option to lay your rods flush on either side of your yak along the gunwale and has a rod tip protector, I think these are very handy, but if I needed more spelace I wouldn't definitely invest it them. I have a similar product made by millennium marine on my boat.
Hey, great to see your video. Love your enthusiasm. Just bought the same kayak and I’m waiting for it to arrive so really enjoyed seeing your mods, especially the rubber feet that you put on the side of the chair.
Firstly love the video. Super detailed and useful for someone starting out such as myself. What brand rod holders will fit this particular rail system on the sides? I’d love to add one of these to mine if possible.
Thanks, glad you like the video. I belive most rail system rod holders work. Its a Versatile track. I know for sure they fit most 5/16 T track bolts that are standard with most rod holders.
🤣😅 I know you know the feeling! It's one that's infectious. Just happy and grateful to have a nice rig. My baby face was grinning from ear to ear🤣 Glad you enjoy the content.
Glad you like my mods. This is not an retractable anchor line, its retractable clothes line in which I cut the cable and tied paracord to it. Here you go. Retractable Clothesline -... www.amazon.com/dp/B07FYR4Q55?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
awesome video man, did you know the skeg on the rear is designed to come off and on very easily by the rubber orange rope holding it on? This is a very awesome kayak for the price i will be stealing some of the mod ideas for sure!! Good luck Fishing!!
Yes it is a great kayak, I agree. Taking it for its first trip on a river float trout fishing this weekend. The skegvworks great, u have been thinking about adding a rudder system so I can raise and lower it and turn because it's hard to raise it once it's down from the seated position. But overall it's a hard kayak to beat for the money and features. Good luck to you as well!
Good info. I grabbed a green Catch Mode 110 on sale at Academy about three weeks ago. I'm brand new to fishing, and I'm so stoked I got it. Just got back from a week on the Texas coast. I did some inshore fishing. To say it was therapeutic is an understatement. I didn't catch many fish, but enough to keep me trying. Best one was a 16" speckled trout. I was paddling almost a mile from my truck to where I was fishing with no problems. Looking forward to exploring spots around central Tx. Fish on!
Man that sounds like a awesome fishing experience along the coast, I know it was indeed therapeutic. Those is kayak is so comfortable and makes a long day on the water so much easier. Glas to hear you enjoy your yak as much as I do mine. Get that therapy! Tightlines!
@keithrychlak4337 I have a roof rack basket and I sometimes use the kayak foam pads for a car roof top but most times I just strap it to my basket without them. I will show you
Its a retractable clothes line that I pulled the original rope all the wah out and cut then attached paracord to the end of the rope they give you. Here is the link. www.amazon.com/dp/B07FYR4Q55?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Just a claw anchor and a clothing line paracord system that I have attched to my Kayak crate. Been meaning to add and anchor trolly system, just havent got around to it yet. Here is a video where you can see it clearly. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZEr7SzW7er0.htmlsi=WrUl2IwsqtM91OeJ
Nice to meet you as well man. I do not have an official decal for sale, but I will work on getting on for you asap. What I currently have are sticker decals you can purchase from my site, they are below the video. Appreciate the support!
I agree. I have entertained the idea of a pedal kayak or motor, but I can't beat the workout, the feel of kayaking and the intimate feel when fishing I get.
Bass bucks are money pits. Hate boats. Sold mine. Made fishing dreadful waiting on something else to break. Bought a kayak. Would NEVER EVER own a boat again.
I’ve been checking out that same kayak for some river fishing for smallies I’ve watched a lot of videos out of all so far I believe after watching yours I’m sold on it really like the modes ya done great video
Thabks, im glad you enjoyed the video. This yak is great for river fishing, I use on the Toccoa river in front of hydroelectric dams and Im glad I went with this yak.
No I dont have one that fits this yak. I put mine on top of my suv roof basket and then pull it off at the boat ramp, load all my gear on it and then push it to the side while I go park. I havent found a cart that makes it worth it to go up and down the steep boat ramp. The only thing I do is drop it on a floor dolley and roll it in my garage when I get home.
I just purchased this kayak. The foot pedal on the left side snapped completely off. Has anyone else had this issue and how would I go about replacing it? The screws that mount the rail to the kayak seem do not seem to have any way to loosen or remove them.
Thats not good, I haven't experienced this on my yak. May just be a manufacturing error. I see replacement foot pegs on the Confluence website. Here is a link. Im not near my yak right now, but I believe they just slide back on. www.confluenceoutdoor.com/en-us/products/kayak-foot-peg/PS1082
Thanks, appreciate you watching. I havent added a teandicer yet, but I have saw videos of someone using a modified scupper transducer, but I plan to add a transducer mount off of my track mount.
Yeah man its a more intimate vibe with nature on the water. Love that I can switch feom my jon boat to the yak. You will quickly fall in love with yak if you buy it, its a platform that easiky accepts any modifications. I appreciate you watching!
Man I'm struggling i want this one but i also want the catch pwr 100... this looks real cool and fun but i love the 360 chair on the catch 100 still don't know what i want but got to get something soon need to get out there to fish.
@@fishingistherapy yeah I'm with you there its 350 cheaper for this one roughly. And I like how this one is more like a kayak looks easier to paddle with but I am planning on putting a trolling motor on it since I have one already and I seen videos of a trolling motor on this one and it looks uncomfortable the way you got to turn around, have you put one on yours? And the pwr 100 looks easy to use to troll around need a longer paddle tho if I just want to coast around with a paddle and I like how you can easily get up and walk around in the 100 however this one don't like to bad either.
@madd6795 I totally understand. I plan to put a trolling motor on mine as well. Jist havent fullt committed yet. But I have some plans for my yak. The pwr sounds good if you have a yak trailer. I couldn't imagine putting it on top of my SUV every trip or dragging it up the hill when I fish at the hydroelectric dam. But I do like the idea of being able to troll around but im going to add the trolling motor soon so I can make adjustments and dial it in. I would go with the catch for the money but for the teolling features and if I had a yak trailer or flatbed truck I would go with the pwr 100.
@@fishingistherapyThanks for your insight and point of view helps me decide and your videos too appreciate your time. I am in the process of getting a trailer actually gong to get one in 2 days lol just bc my girl getting a kayak as well so it will be useful to carry 2 at a time. But yeah trailer deff helps with dropping kayak straight to water or at least closer. Also sweet set up on your upgrade simple and organized can't wait to get my mods on.
@madd6795 Man that means alot, glad tou enjoy my content and the info and mods. Your right that trailer for 2 kayaks is going to make life so much easier. Good to hear from you, hope it goes well for you. Tightlines!
I just started looking into getting this kayak and love your videos. Do you transport it directly on top of your roof cargo basket? I have the same basket. Do you have a photo or video of what the transport setup looks like?
All of the stores near me were out of stock, so I had to purchase from the pelican website. Not sure if they are back in stock in Department stores, but Pelican has them in stock.
Thank you. I got it from Amazon. You will need to remove the cable that it comes in. I just cut it at the very end after pulling it all out and tied my paracord directly to the last bit of clothes line. Hope this helps.
