Angie, as of today I can’t print on my printer using print and cut. I’m met with a message “One quick thing… it looks like you still need to set up your machine. You will need to do this before you can make your project. Don’t worry it’s easy”. I could cry right now. I’ve been working on the design space for years.

Thank you for this comparison! So sad that the HP can't handle cardstock for print then cut. HP's are mostly front loaders and that means the paper has to curve back around on itself and thick paper doesn't want to to that! The only thing I think is missing in this video is more info on the thickness cut off point. Can it handle 100 lb cardstock but not 110 lb? Or 80 lb vs 100 lb? Guess I will have to do my own testing with my old Officejet 4630. 🙂

Finally someone who reviews printers that aren’t over $500, the fact that you went through each of the different printer “paper” types helped a lot. I bought a cheaper HP trying to fit the sticker paper through it, which was a disaster. HP Envy 7155 and Printable vinyl here I come. THX

My HP 6869 automatically tell them when I have printed so many pages and sends what I need. I have never gone over my 3,000 pages per month and never notice the monthly fee. It’s one less thing I have to worry about.

I have/had been in the market for a new printer for a while. My HP4650, 3 years old and $50 new, has been giving me some grief and its text printing is looking kind of bad. For a while it was undependable, but I was able to fix it. Anyway, it was time. A three color cartridge wasn't making it for me anymore. I wanted better. Bigger was also better. I finally was able to nab a Canon Crafters printer on Amazon in November. I have been pretty happy with it. I was disappointed when I discovered the Automatic Document Feed (ADF) didn't duplex scan. That was a little sad. But, I have a doc scanner that does do that, so, I'm good. The automatic duplex printing is a game changer! Angie, when I print on the Canon, my default is always Best Quality. But, I change the media setting the Canon, semi matte photo paper for sticker and get great results; never washed-out looking or "less than." It took a lot of tweaking to get it right. I still am experimenting with it. The printer is one huge puppy, for sure. Everyday, I like it a little bit better. Thank you for posting the video, Angie. It made me feel better about my decision.

I have had an HP Envy for years now, and I use the HP Instant Ink, and I have to say I love my HP. I would not switch. I wish HP would come out with a 12 X 12" printer and one that will take a thicker sticker paper.

Did you try using one of the thinner paper on the cannon? Maybe it will make a difference on the color?

This is excellent info; I am new to the Cricut explorer air 2 world and just purchased the HP Envy photo that you mentioned and had not taken it out the box because I was wondering if this was for printing on vinyls or heat transfer papers. I have an HP office jet but it will not print any of the print then cut sheets. It keeps saying that it is jammed. So I wanted to get a printer that could handle thicker materials.

Is it me or it seems like Hp doesn't make a model called "Hp envy photo" anymore? On their website, I could only find normal "Hp Envy" printers. Maybe it's called Hp Envy Inspire now?

The thing you have to understand is that EVERY paper type will print differently, you have to take into account what file type you're printing from, ALL your printer settings (not just quality), and paper type. Ink will saturate thinner paper more than thicker cardstock, therefore producing more "saturated" prints... It's not the printer that's "not printing high quality", it's simply a difference in paper.

This video is amazing! Now I have the go 7155 and when I put card stock to print stickers it prints either the bottom part of them, not all the stickers. I’m using the Cricut brand Matte finish card stock…

Great video Angie! I want to add a printer to my new cricut set up and this video was very helpful. I have only been using laser printers recently because I never liked how the ink jet prints in the past smeared when wet. Are these new ink jets the same or does it have more to do with the media you are printing on?

You've nearly convinced me to go back to HP. I've been using a pixima for years and I love it. But if there is an HP that will handle thick sticker paper, I'd love to know.

I have to say this has been the BEST printer comparison video I have seen on RU-vid and trust me I have watched a lot trying to find a good printer. I have the HP 5070 but will definitely upgrade to the 7155!! I love the HP instant ink program! Thank you! New subbie for sure!

if you absolutely don't have to print borderless, you can save a lot of ink that way if you are purchasing the cartridges. If you have the subscription service, borderless print away! But your maintenance box will need to be changed more often (not covered by sub service, and $$ to replace). it is where your excess ink is sent away. .

Something to add about the HP instant ink program is the roll over of prints! That’s amazing! Thank you for the vid. Definitely helps with choosing the right printer!

Thank you so much for the comparison. I have a Canon Pixma 6020 tank printer, the ink last for about 2 years and I print about 100 pages per week. The problem with it is that the color for copies isn't accurate and it drives me nuts. I'm thinking of getting a printer just for my cricut stuff. Can you tell me, in your video, the prints of the paper you made, was that printing from your scanner or your computer? It would be nice to be able to make copies straight from the printer and have the colors accurate. Thanks

I use an epson eco-tank. You can't beat buying ink once a year and paying about the same as those limited cartridges. I can actually see how much ink is used instead of the wasteful "estimates" all other printers use. Quality of print is great. The only thing im jealous of is Canon's control panel options. Much easier to tweak their controls. With epson I control color from within the design program.

This is absolutely wrong. Bought and HP Envy specifically because of this review and the paper always gets stuck. Absolute disappointment.

Question for any of you, I was looking at printers that work with cricut and it said Epson WorkForce Wireless Printer w/ADF (WF-2850) is that true? I looked it up and it’s not too expensive

psi if youre going with inkjet auto delivery the printer has to be a specific model, AND you must connect it so buying a used one would be a huge NO_NO

I know nothing about printers. I have an epson xp-900. Its supposed to print on lots of different things, cant say ive tried. The ink runs out fast and isnt cheap. dont think either of these would be good if you print on heavy card stock. Best to get one that drops the paper down from the top, rather than rolling it around to print.

I have the 7155. I may never buy another brand of inkjet printer again. Instant Ink for the win! I toyed with the fantasy of the Canon, but it’s just too big for my space. Not worth the price. Wouldn’t it be fabulous if HP caught the vision and engineered a Photo Envy printer that would accommodate 12” x 12” paper?! *#swoon*

Well, don't even TRY to get one of those Canon Pixma TS9521c or 9520!!!! I've been waiting on one to come in since June 2021! I will say, there are some on Amazon, if you want to pay at least TRIPLE the price! No thanks, can't be that good! Just wish Canon would just come out and say it'll never be available and STOP advertising them! Rant over.

One more question: Because it is inkjet, do I have to print a minimum amount every day or so in order for the "jets" not to plug up?? I had an HP printer 15 yrs ago and if I did not use it every day or two, the ink would dry up and I would have to buy another cartridge $$$$

My hp photo envy prints lines in my art for print then cuts when I put on card stock or vinyl 😭 I’ve tried cleaning my cartridge and aligning them but you can still see the lines throughout the image 😭

I have an HP inkjet pro 9010 printer (only 1 year old) and I am having the DARNDEST time printing onto Cricut printable vinyl. It's NOT the sticker paper, it's definitely the vinyl. It keeps jamming my printer and I've ruined all but one page in the package. Will the Envy behave differently? Thank you SO much for any advice you might be able to offer. I am beyond frustrated at the moment. Three hours trying to figure out how to fix this. 😭

I just got the hp envy 7855 and it is not printing the square around the image when I do a print and cut. I tried to calibrate and it is not printing the top part or the full page. Do you have suggestions? I am so frustrated as I am wasting cardstock.
