Critical and timely information I was seeking for my new/first AR. Additionally, I always welcome anecdotal experience to accompany pure specs and data when available. This alone helps to wade through the tsunami of choices and specifications regarding PRS's, thanks so much.

Haven't had a chance to test if it holds zero, but mounts just fine and has nice clear glass. Centered vertically true to a plumb line with the crosshairs which is always a plus!It's a great ru-vid.comUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope. There's no parallax adjustment or focus ring, so may be limited to 3-7x, have to see how it is on the range. Also be aware that the rings are "look through" so you can still use irons, but they are really tall if you only intend to use the optics. On a 22LR no biggie since I'm not shooting competitions or worried about a hard cheek press. Will boresight and range test, if all goes well, I'll leave it at that!

I had an element titan 5-25 and it was a disappointment. Parallax adjustment from 150 to infinity takes like 2 degrees of turning, so getting it parallax free for longer range was a pain. From 150m and in ontop of a 22lr it was decent.

IOR uses the same German shot glass that S&B use. Excellent scopes. They have been revolutionary in scope design. It’s cheaper to fly to Romania and purchase on than it is to buy in N. America. Plus you get a vacation. Buy direct from the factory. They make lenses for TV/IR guided weapons as well.

How is the eye box on the Discovery ED PRS 5-25x56? Also, how does the warranty compare between this one and Arken? I was pretty set on the ARKEN SH4-GENII for $550 CAD (including the NSF kit being offered), but now I'm strongly debating pushing my budget and getting the Discovery ED PRS 5-25x56 ($666 CAD) or Arken EP5 (766 CAD) plus kit for $829 CAD. All prices are current and include shipping and taxes. I've included the Arken kit prices since the Discovery appears to come with a throw lever and scope caps and the kit does as well making the comparison closer. Is the discovery worth the extra $110 over the SH4 and is the EP5 worth the extra $100-$160 over the Discovery?
@EpikArms
@EpikArms Год назад
the Discovery is more comparable to the Arken EP5 than the SH4. turrets feel better on the ep5 than the discovery but the discovery seems better than the SH4. (fit and finish on the EP5 is slightly better than the discovery, glass quality too) the eyebox is very similar to the EP5. in terms or warranty for Canada, it could take a while to get a warranty Arken this side of the border, they seem to order them in batches every 3 months or so since they are coming from the USA. Discovery from what I understand is doing a big push for the Canadian Market (because of me) and their shipping from china to Canada seems to take a week or 2. The discovery is currently 632$ CAD tax/shipping included at CDNprecision.com and the cheapest SH4 that I can find is at just under 800$ from rangeview.ca (before shipping). if you are near the Alexandria area you can come take a look and compare them side by side. Also to be clear CDNprecision.com is my website. after having used the Discovery since November of last year, this January I decided I would buy a lot of 7 of them and retail them. trying to keep something of great value for the Canadian market. let me know if you have any questions. thanks for watching!

It’s crazy how good optics have gotten for the price. Arken and Tract get you what $2500-$3k used to get you a decade ago. If Arken and Tract and others can get the weight and size down a bit while keeping the same quality control the big guys are going to be in trouble.

None of the big guys are worried about Arken or Tract especially if they are as you said a decade behind! Kahles, ZCO, Minox, Leica, Zeiss & Tangent Theta and many others make Arken & Tract look and perform like the 500-1000 optics that they are. To make it even more simple any optic using German Schott glass isn’t worried about any optic using Asian ED glass…..
@wc4201
@wc4201 Год назад
@@johncrenshaw1383 I’d be hard pressed to buy another Schmidt and Bender, Zeiss or Steiner when I can get spot on tracking and good enough glass for less than $1k. Sure Arken isn’t Schmidt and Bender but it’s 85% of what one of those is. If the big guys ain’t worried then ain’t going to be long for the world cuz change is constant. If they don’t change/innovate with the times then they will get bought out or go extinct. This is coming from a guy who has 4, PMII’s… I’m practically putting Schmidt and Benders kids through school (joke)!

Manufacturers will tell you its HD glass but it comes in varying quality. A lot of Vortex, Burris and other high end scope's glass is made in the Philippines. I chose Tract because its glass is second to none, Schott Glass is world renowned, similar to Zeiss

Can you explain the zero stop on the Arken EP5, specifically the amount of .Mil after zeroing and then setting the zero stop? Arken lists the Elevation adjustment as 32 mils. Will you have 32 mils after zeroing and resetting the zero stop?
@EpikArms
@EpikArms Год назад
Yes, the arkens zero stop does not limit the amount of internal adjustment
@shaneleeracing2285
@shaneleeracing2285 Год назад
Thanks! Now if I zero and used 12 Mil of elevation for a 100yd zero, will I have 32 Mil after setting the zero stop?
@EpikArms
@EpikArms Год назад
no, if you used 12 mils to zero the scope then you re left with the difference (20 mils) depending on the rifle set up you may want a more canted base. for example if you are using a 0 moa base then you will be zeroed using 16 mils if you have a 20 moa base then you are using around 10 mils, if you have a 30 moa base then you zeroed using approx. 7 mils leaving you with 25 mils of adjustment to use. basically with the Arken optic it doeast add an extra variable. for example with the USO TS20x you only got to use 10 mils with the zero stop engaged wether you had a 0 moa a 20 moa or a 30 moa rail
@shaneleeracing2285
@shaneleeracing2285 Год назад
Thanks. I will have a 20 MOA base and I ordered the 20 MOA Cantilever Mount, so I will be set for nearly all of the 32 Mil. Hopefully it’ll not need much down adjustment for zero.
