Wow...you are poetic when describing fragrance. Beautifully done, informative, and entertaining. Thank you. I am subscribing. P.S. I loved rose fragrance as a young teen in HS...but was bullied and made fun of in of all place french class...so I stopped wearing rose.... you have actually healed a 30 year wound. I recently bought some rose oil for the bath...I look forward to purchasing one of the perfumes you have recommended here. Thank you.
Two that I highly recommend-- one is discontinued but easy to find, and the other is still available: JOY extrait by Jean Patou... Absolutely gorgeous! And Darby Rose by Chantecaille which is super sparkling and mouth-watering ❤
I know you make perfume videos but your skin looks flawless, would you ever consider making a video on your favorite skincare? I bet you know all the good stuff
Rose Barbare by Guerlain is perfection. I think I am learning that I enjoy honey accords and aromaics in my preferred fragrances. I am watching this video 2 years after you posted this. I bought a decant a year ago on a lark. I paused your video to get a sniff of Rose Barbare. You described it accurately. I love your analogy of deep hidden rose among the thorns, sleeping beauty vibe. it is indeed unisex. I think this might very well go to the signature scent category. I am truly a fan of Guerlain.
A rose purist here! My favorite of all is Lumiere Noire by MFK. A true masterpiece! This is my signature scent and sadly is discontinued. Then I have Une Rose and POAL, Noir de Noir, Epic, Mon nom est rouge, Rose Elie Saab Essence collection and still looking for some other ones like PHI from Tauer or Mohur Extrait from Neela Vermeire. I really enjoyed your video about L'air du desert Marocain and ended up with subscribing to your channel. 🥰
Jo Malone Red Roses body lotion has been my favourite of rose scents I've found so far. The perfumes never seem to last long without an oud hit. But that body lotion smells like freshly cut sweet sweet roses ♥
I love the scent of rose. I had totally forgotten I had a sample of Love Kills, so went to fetch it after watching this. Oh wow, how did I overlook this before?! Thanks for the video, Sam.
This is a perfect video for me. I’m looking for a rose fragrance that evokes yellow roses or maybe “tea roses” as you described. Actually as a gift maybe for my mom who likes roses and “yellow roses” because it reminds her of her own mom. I need to look at that perfume “tea rose.”
I love Stella 💜 so glad you included it. I thought it was forgotten! One of my favourite rose scents, however is Rose Cardamome by La Closerie des Parfums. Spicy & uplifting. I wore it over the Christmas holidays.
As a floral and rose lover THANK YOU! I subbed, There’s a lot of perfume channels I follow but most of them don’t love florals so if anyone knows any other floral leaning perfume channels please put me on!!! I love that you described different types of roses 🌹
I adore rose fragrances as well. My signature perfume right now is Tea Rose. No one believes how affordable it is. I also love Rose Cardin, which I used until it was discontinued. And there other good low cost rose fragrances: Jeanne Arthes Rose Rouge, Roses Blanches, Rose Intense and Rose Jasmine. Each one costs no more than 5 or 7 euros. I usually go to bed with Rose Jasmine, when it dries down, it smells clean and cozy.
Thank you for this review. For me the best rose’s fragrances are : Rose rouge Van Cleef & Arpels Intense Café - Montale Rose Chérie - Guerlain Rosa Nobile - Acqua Di Parma ❤
Had to drop a note to say that, based on the reviews of Rose de Mai by yourself and Persolaise, I purchased this fragrance recently and can easily say it is now in my top 2 or 3 rose fragrances. Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you! My other favorite, which I also purchased recently, is Rose Millésimée by Jovoy.
Love this video!! I also miss the old Stella.. when I was maybe 20 I had a sample of Stella Absolu that I eked out for like a year. It was so addictive! I wish I felt the way you do about Nahema, to me the rose is past its full bloom and the petals have turned to paper, fading and almost dusty.
Hi Sam, Great video! Rose is my favorite note in perfume. My first rose fragrance I purchased back in 2002 was Annick goutal's Ce soir ou Jamais. I still have it after all these years and it still smells the same. I remember going to the department store on the hunt for a rose based fragrance and came across this one at the Annick goutal boutique. I liked how back then they had charts with note profiles of the fragrances at their counter. Ce soir ou jamais had a listing of twelve different roses they used along with other secret ingredients that they would not divulge. I loved this idea of a secret family recipe. Another beautiful find is Carven"s Paris Izmir. This too is beautiful. Thanks for the great video! Have a good weekend!
I'm also a rose purist and only use rose absolute/otto oil, which my boyfriend describes as smelling like a McDonald's Big Mac 🤨. Thanks to your exquisite descriptions, I'm ready to try a few rose perfumes for myself and for my mom 🌹
Hi just found your channel and subscibed. Im a huge lover of rose. And have a large collection of Rose and done many videos on it. Especially love Guerlain habit rouge as a classic rose and also everything that Rosine Paris make. Favouite oriental fose wisal 🌹💜💗
Watching you pull up each of these perfumes makes me realise how I must also be obsessed with Rose fragrances, as you've held up so many favourites, everything from Tea Rose to Nahema to the 4 reines to the Ombre Rose. I wore Nahema when I was 17 as a "signature" (then YSL's Paris because Nahema became so hard to find and soon became discontinued by Guerlain--nice to see it has made a comeback). I feel like I was completely unaware of that rose note preference, but when you mention its ability to uplift...Roses, especially the rose damascena, has been used as a medicine for centuries (if not thousands of years). No wonder the scent has such depth of meaning for us.
Brilliant listen list thank you! I was curious about the masque Milano version of the rose. Blind buy mate? 😬 Next I. My list is Rose de Mai and a rose I love is Rose omeyyade. I also like L’agent by agent provocateur , quite the cheapie too! 🌹
Thank you for this extremely detailed thorough review! I was looking for pure rose smells to buy for my mother. This is extremely helpful!! ❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜
Rose is my favorite note, but I don't have many 'pure' roses. I love Tea Rose and Stella. Now I will have to try the others. Can't wait for rose/oud and rose/patchouli videos.
I have always hoped someone would make a video about true rose perfumes. I too am a rose lover and purist. Many ppl don’t realize how many perfumes are made of rose accords and there is actually no rose in the perfume. Rose is extremely expensive to use in a perfume, if ppl actually smelt a true rose perfume, they wouldn’t recognize it because we are all so used to perfumers who use rose accords. I have smelt a true rose perfume with a great quality Oud that’s not fecal but beautiful and intriguing, I can’t afford to buy more than a 10ml decant, it’s extremely expensive but worth it imho . I have MFK A la rose and I’m not all that crazy about it. I do love Taif rose as well, I have a beautiful Taif rose perfume. I adore it. It’s my favorite rose .
Yes, Love Kills! I love this! I bought this because of you. It wears so well, throughout the day. Sadly, my sprayer is broken. I went through about 3 Stella’s back in the day. Nahema was probably the 1st rose perfume I fell in love with as a teen, but I wasn’t ready for it. Buy the time I bought it, it seemed diluted. I love simple rose scents and tea rose. Vaara still has that lovely waterlines without too much spice.
Thank you so much for making this!!! I would love to see a rose series your nose to scents is fab! I love rose, my favourite and ? Signature scent is taif rose oud by ASQ! So unique to wear in London. Also aqua di Parma do a great rose too. I am deffo going to try one of the ones on your list - which do you think has the best longevity? Xx
Thanks for the video! I’ve always loved the scent of rose and kept sniffing my grandmother’s rose bushes as a kid. One of my favourites is Lustre by Hiram Green, also the sadly discontinued Rose Nacree du Desert Guerlain. Both are incense roses somehow but are not dark or patchouli. I recently got Nahema and I absolutely love it, despite not being too fond of oak moss in general. Sa Majeste veers on being too high pitched for me sadly (I own a full bottle of the old presentation and looking to pass it on).
I really love Velvet Rose by Joe Malone...Its really dark and has incense in it that makes it smell mysterious but so beautiful a real head turner. I needed more rose fragrances and I have to say your video is one of my all time favorite videos on the internet. I hope to buy all these Rose fragrances you have mentioned. I did try Maison L'eau a la Rose and I love it :) It is very similiar but it is a bit stronger than the L'occtaine "rose" which is a cheaper version, very fresh simple rose.
L’Homme a la Rose by MFK is the only fragrance from this list that I have tried personally and to me it captured exactly what a lively fresh rose is. I love it and if it’s in the same realm as these others you’ve mentioned, then I can’t wait to get my nose on them too! Thanks for sharing this knowledge
I realised that I have a lot of rose fragrances everything from Tea rose, red roses by jo malone to roses musk from montale, roses vanille, nina ricci l'extase for more sugary ones. And I still have many more, didnt realise how many rose centered scents I own until now. 😅 For those who think its age specific, me, my mother and my grandmother all have a bottle of Tea Rose each!
You’re so classy, Sam! I don’t love rose dominant fragrances though I love to smell a real rose. However, I just got a used bottle of Santi Burgas Lôrose, rose dominant chypre, and I can’t stop smelling it! Also check out the bottle design 🤩
Hello Sam, nice review as always :) ! I thought I didn't like rose scents ... except "l'eau des 4 reines" I had purchased for my daughter when she was a little girl ... and I ended up wearing, as she didn't want to wear ANY perfume AT ALL, and still doesn't (has she been cursed or something ???). To me roses scents smelled too vintagy and didn't get along with my chemistry ... but I very recently changed my mind when I found interest in "mon Paris intensément"... I found it playful, young and a bit cheeky, and ended up buying it. I also like and will probably buy the famous "intense café" by Montale (more vanillic, warm and sensuous version of the other one). In the end I hope a door has opened to the roses realm for me :) . To the people who feel like me that roses are most of the time screechy on their skin : give the fragrance a chance, please wait a bit. I couldn't get along with Delina, the rose overtook all the rest and stayed too harsh for too long ... but if "mon Paris intensément" or "intense café" also go through a screechy phase on me, it only lasts 15-20 mn before regaining a nice balance ;)
Thank you for this anecdote! I think that preconceptions often get in the way of how people truly feel. Often a person will think they dislike something, but then when smelling without being told what it is, actually really enjoy it. It is an exercise everyone should try - testing perfumes with full openness. 🌹Xo Sam
I smell too much nutmeg and incense in Delina. I was gifted the body cream. I find it lush and beautiful, if I could remove the nutmeg and incense. Do you know any fragrance like Delina without the heavy spices?
What do you think of La Fille de Berlin? It's my favourite... do you consider it a "pure rose?" It's similar to Une Rose, I think. I'm going to grab Tea Rose when I get a chance! The pricier ones will have to wait 😏 Looking forward to the next video!
Hi Sam 🤗 I was supposed to go to bed, but… well, your video appeared 😃😍😂 you know, sleep can wait and your review cannot 😘 MFK is my favourite rose scent as of now, but I also appreciate the two by Guerlain 😍 Joan
@@MyWorldofFragrance 😊 Honestly, watching your videos not only brings tons of knowledge and inspiration to my crazy hobby (its crazy how much money I spend on perfumes- my husband says 😂) . I also highly appreciate the way you talk, share your visions and present yourself. You have such an original, complex and artistic personality Sam! 💎 I dont know what you do for living, but certainly you should think of expanding your career in media 🌹Xo
Hi. I don’t know if you have tried these here : Rose flash ( verg jammy) tauer Rose in wonderland ( fresh, light, watery rose) atkinson’s White rose de alix - atkinson’s Or just rose perfection by Robert Piguet. All beautiful roses you can not get enough of 🥰
Philosophy Ballet Rose is a very delicate scent and so lovely. I wish it had better performance, otherwise it’s wonderful. My current favorite rosecentric fragrances are Zara Rose Gourmand and Lush Rose Jam. 🌹🥰
@@michelleclark8099 it has a true rosey raspberry opening note then dries down to a lovely warm amber that lasts ages. I like it for summer evenings or winter days
The most startlingly realistic rose I’ve ever come across is Louis Vuitton’s Rose des Vents, where I smell the entire rose, leaves, stalk and sap included. I also love Rose Gipsy by Dior, Roja’s Heritage Rose and L’eau a la Rose by MFK. I have 2 backup bottles of Rose 4 Reines from l’occitane and also have a soft spot for Paris by YSL which I’ve loved since my teens (I’m 48 now). Like you I value natural, authentic smelling rose and am such a fan of the flower that I even named my daughter for them and have around 20 different roses in my garden 🙂🌹 I think I’m going to try Rose de Mai by Perris next, on your recommendation (I had Taif but sold it as I found I prefer lighter, more pure rose scents)
@@MyWorldofFragrance to be honest I can’t recall the pre formulation scent precisely to compare but it’s still instantly recognisable as Paris, still has that almost caustic, soapy undertone with a prolific amount of rose over it
Nice picks! When you get a chance please try, if you haven't, Smolderose by January Scent Project and Garanat by Bvlgari. Both are supremely addictive. Also you looked absolutely beautiful in your upscale bohemian-chic attire 😍😍😍👌
+I'll have to look into these. what do you think of YSL Paris? it smells so much like lovely Roses, lasts a long time, even the EDP. I discovered it in the mid 80's in California and love, love, love it. :)
I adore rose! Unfortunately it can turn sour on me quite easily. The first 2/3 scents with a light fresh rose sound the most appealing for my chemistry.
I came to realise that I prefer peonies in fresh rose scents such as L’eau de Chloe or Donna Rosa Verde. However when it comes to “real” rose scents I tend to like them dark and/or boozy like Oud Bouquet. Still I am tempted to try the Stella rose fragrance ♥️
I really want to like a rose fragrance, however on my skin, they just become so strong and not pleasant. I am still trying, but so far my chemistry and rose to not match .
Most young women do not have jaded noses. They do not like to stink. Which often means “smell sophisticated.” I also do not want to stink. Or “smell sophisticated.” I do not like dirty pachouli nor manly , nor cat piss, nor old lady smell nor furniture polish, nor rubber tire, nor forrest fire, nor other such smells that are in “perfumes.”
Well, I just gave you 2 names of good perfumes, 1 designer and 1 niche. Because you asked for suggestions. I searched in my collection and you didn't respond to that. So, did you try them?
@@ingrid1001 I am on lockdown. I have not sampled your suggestions. I have a sample of a Givenchy. I need to find it and see if it’s the same one you suggested.
I wanted to buy Stella, but hard to find anything less than $300.00. It is discontinued sadly. I have to say for me though Love Kills is fantastic thank you! I didn't really like Rose DE Mai because it was too sweet smelling...The Rose De Taif was nice but super expensive. I wasn't into Ombre Rose because it smelled too much like Johnsons baby powder.
