You have not mentioned my favourite iris scent: Boucheron iris de syracuse. It's the most elegant, understated most beautiful iris scent that I think any iris lover needs to get a sample of.
Iris is one of my favorite notes and I happen to own many of the scents you mentioned. Here are another 3 fragrances you might enjoy: - Santa Maria Novella Città di Kyoto, an incensy, woody iris; - Van Cleef and Arpels Bois d'Iris, a woody iris with a touch of vanilla (what you'd get by combining Dior Bois d'Argent and Diptyque Eau Duelle). - Guerlain Après l'Ondée, a nice iris-violet-heliotrope combo (which I find similar to L'Heure Bleue, but less vintage smelling and more wearable)
Fantastic list, thank you for sharing! I have and love Après L'Ondée, Bois d'Iris a friend of mine chose as a signature (after perfume shopping with me) and it reminds me of him :) I must try Città di Kyoto. Much love 🌹Xo Sam
I’ve watched/listened to this at least two various times now (as it seems I’ve become a somewhat obsessed mongrel for sniffing-out Iris scents) and love the classic & unique variety you present!❤ (…I’d welcome an update to this lovely list in 2023😘)
I ended up with Chanel 19 Poudre because of you and the sweet story about your mom! I love it. Definitely want to check out Fleur de Peau I’m a sucker for the font on the bottle 😗 and the notes sound up my alley for spring for sure! I’m definitely feeling iris fragrances and fig ones for March.
I had a sample of Frederick Malle Iris Poudre. I liked it as it reminded me of a perfume probably my mom or my granny wore. It is a very sophisticated and like you said smells like old money scent. I love such perfumes to wear in bed just for me when I am melancholic. Iris is a very poetic and intellectual fragrance. I agree.
Your description of the Guerlain L’Huere Blue (my spelling is probably off) just solidified my next fragrance buy. I have been stalking it for years and recently discovered how much I love carnation as a prominent note when sampling something from Hiram Green called Vivacious I believe. I wouldn’t have imagined liking a carnation forward scent since I associate it with the cheap and garishly dyed (in the US) flowers. Several people called it a loose modern interpretation of the Guerlain which surprised me because I thought the Guerlain was Iris dominant, and Vivacious was very watery. I really don’t need anymore Iris perfume, but knowing there is carnation there makes me feel a tiny bit less guilty! Thanks again- I also have many Iris fragrances but I haven’t tried any of the ones on your list-looking forward to checking them out eventually.
Hmmm….that explanation of the type of people who wear iris…ME!!! I feel like I am friendly and personable to everyone but when it comes to knowing me…takes a bit 😂! Welcoming with clear boundaries hahaha! I loved this list!
Felt a kindredness about that explanation, too. And I'm very upfront with my boundaries too...once I decide I'm willing to let someone in. And everyone thinks they know me so well at first because of friendliness/charisma/whatever-- but no.....like she mentioned.....LAYERS!!!😅
I bought Iris Nobile as my souvenir from Rome. I love this fragrance. I keep the bottle in the round container it came in and it is 13 years since I bought it and it smells exactly like it did the day I bought it!
Hi Sam! I hope you are well in spite of the world’s challenges. You look beautiful, love this persimmon-coral color you are rocking. Really enjoyed this video so much and the broad range of fragrances you discuss! I adore L’Heure Bleue, Prada, Homme, but many others are unexplored for me. Just love the way you describe fragrances, often tied to emotion (tho the wad of money bit also made me yell YES!). Thanks for taking us along. 💜
I love iris!! I like the note bc it is a wearable vintage to me. A vintage note done modern. I forgot about some of these like L’Attesa which I own and have been neglecting. It’s such a unique dry iris. I adore it! Celine Peau Nue, Chanel Misia/Rue Cambon are other loves. Those are the best perfumes in my collection basically.
Insolence was my first taste of iris... So feminine, so youthful. I wear her at home, or after a shower/ to bed. Paired w violet as you mentioned. Very curious about the penhaligons recommendation!! I recently purchased Cairo and the house has my interest.
Yes! ❤️ but for me there is a huge difference between the heavenly 2006 Maurice Roucel EdP in the half-sphere bottle with the rose-like stopper and all other versions (no doubt due to reformulation). That original is such a complex, delicate, joyful violet Iris!
I always look forward to your videos. Also the ones from Persolaise. You're both inspiring. I went to Paris recently to visit a friend. Managed to squeze in a lot of sniffing. The only one on my list that ended up unsniffed was Iris Silver Mist. I'm so curious about that one, on the verge of blindbuying, but I'll wait..
Thumbs up because I just got into Iris personally and this was helpful. I have about 10 samples on their way to me to find the best fit for me but missed some of the ones you mentioned... I will put them on the round 2 sample list!
Masque Milano L'attesa is my holy grail iris. If you havent tried Xerjoff Irisss and Parfum d'Empire Cuir Ottoman please do. They're worth a try if you're an iris lover :)
So many great iris fragrances, and some new ones to explore! My current favourite iris is Tanagra from Maison Violet, iris with pear and freesia, it does not get any better in the spring. Other favourites are Feu Secret from Bruno Fazzolari and Tapis Volant from Les Liquides Imaginaires.
Enjoyed as always. I really think there's no ultimate Iris scent but more so merit in all, good, Iris fragrances. Good is defined by the wearer. I have SOOO many Iris fragrances that all smell different from one another and I enjoy them all. What's funny is, even tho I can't call it on the best cool weather Iris, I can definitely say my all time favorite Summer Iris is: Essenze - Florentine Iris by Ermenegildo Zegna. It's an all season frag but shines in the warm months. Any who, keep up the good work!
Found your channel sniffing out Iris fragrance videos. Just love your channel and the way you describe fragrances. I own a lot of the ones you mentioned here and wanted to recommend Irisss by Xerjoff < ❤️❤️
Great video. I love L'herue Bleu such a beautiful vintage one, still smells so modern and classy. I surprisingly loved Neuee Bleu too, lovely fresher one. I think my favourite iris is Bois D'Argent, again strange for me to love a greener woodier fragrance quite so much but it's my soft fluffy cloud
Ahhh Houbigant holds a lot of meaning for me. As a young girl I was captivated by a perfume and asked the young lady what it was, she said, “ Quelques Fleurs by Houbigant”…so I began saving and went to Neiman Marcus and bought my first bottle in High School. I have kept this fragrance in my collection for over 30 years and wore it on my wedding day. I now need to look into this Iris perfume of theirs. I only have one Iris in my collection, Calvin Klein Eternity Intense- it is a bougie lipstick fragrance and I love it! I like layering Chocolate Greedy then this Iris on top… scrumptious and sophisticated at once! Thank you for this video. I love olfactory homework ❤️.
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful story with Houbigant. If you enjoy their style, you will most likely enjoy Iris Des Champs. I haven't tried Eternity Intense, just Eternity. Thanks for the suggestion 🌹Xo Sam
@@MyWorldofFragrance Yes, Eternity Intense has no likeness to Eternity… don’t know why it’s not its own thing, as I’m not a fan of Eternity. It is a total lipstick Iris and it makes me happy, as does the amazing price!
Wow, I always just love your overviews. Certainly has become one of my favorite channels, and one I recommend to those getting into fragances! You got me now intending to try a few from your list here; Orris Tattoo, probably first. My current top 3; ISM - Serge Lutens (even though it's quite rare I'll wear... Still #1🤷🏼♂😂), Iris Malikhan - Maison Crivelli, & Iris Nazarene - Aedes de Venustas ✌🖖
VCA Bois D’ iris was my first!!! Followed by Arizona by Proenza, Iris celadon by Armani prive and iris dragees by Lancôme.. I have a lil dabber tester of L’attesa and while many may not consider Sunny side Up an iris scent; the orris butter in that one is delectable 🤤
New subbie here😁, love your descriptions😍Infusion D'iris by Prada is on my wishlist as well as Parle Moi Orris Tatto..I just got into this iris note recently, well after I discovered Iris Malikhan from Maison Crivelli😍It was love at first whiff, it is a buttery iris mixed with leather, so sexy and addictive😍😍you have to test it.
I have a bunch of men’s designer and Diptyque Volutes and ATH Homme. Out of all of them Aaron’s smells like it’s made natural instead of aroma chemicals used to create iris notes. I want the Houbigant.
I just subscribed to your channel and I’m loving the content. I’m new to the fragrance world but I find myself agreeing with your tastes in perfume. Do you have any recommendations for a good beginner leather scents for women? Thanks!
Thank you very much! Ok, so leather is another big love of mine... I would steer you to: Serge Lutens Daim Blond (suedy, peachy), Iris Prima (mentioned above, with iris), Galop D'Hermès (soft, equestrian, with hints of rose). 🌹Xo Sam
Thank you very much for this Video! I actually don’t know how Iris is smelling, there is definitely something to discover:) I think someone said that Iris is one of the most expensive perfume notes, could that be true? Love your necklace 😍 Would you mind telling where you got it from? Have a good day🥰🙋🏻♀️
Iris is my absolute favorites note! Have you ever tried Dorina by Dorin Paris? Im obsessed after receiving a tiny sample. Its amazing and something I think could be my everyday, signature scent. It's not very sweet, smells clean and almost linen-like, comforting yet elegant and classy and very powdery. Unfortunately, Im in the US, and cannot find it to purchase anywhere!!! If youve smelled Dorina, and know the smell- if you could recommend a dupe that is accessible in the US, Id be greatful 🙏
I can see a few that made it to my list as well. Last year I had a real iris obsession :D a few on your list intrigued me and one shocked me, I mean - L' heure Bleu :D. Love your blazer.
@@MyWorldofFragrance No, I don't mean that :D I simply never thought of it as an iris scent, to me it mainly ylang and other heady yellow-white florals.
I got a free sample of Prada D'Infusion Iris which I thought of giving my mom cause it is a more mature scent but I ended up trying it and liked it. It felt soft and refreshing. Coincidentally I also got an Iris candle for Christmas so I'm a fan now. Lol.
What about Iris form Chloe, Atelier des fleurs? Very powdery and apparently it's organic, they make 3 organic perfumes in this line. What do you think about the Atelier des fleurs line? Even though iris is my favourite perfume scent ever, I prefer Cedrus from this Chloe line. And Shalimar is another iris classic...BTW thanks for your amazing, enjoyable, knowledgeable videos!
Love Iris fragrances and Prada was my first. My most recent (and current favorite) is Athalia by Parfums de Marly. It’s pricey but absolutely stunning. Thank you for sharing. ♥️
Iris cendré by Naomi Goodsir and Equistrius by Parfum d'Empire would be my top two. I heard Corticchiato talk about Equistrius, he would his fragrance smell like the skin and the breath of a horse. So beautiful !
Thank you! 😃 I voted for Iris 🙌😘 yes, the classic Prada Infusion… a big love of mine! ❤️❤️ For some misterious reason I consider Balenciaga Paris by Balenciaga being an iris perfume 😂 Until I checked notes on Fragrantica I could bet that there was a prominent iris note in it 😆 Thanks again - fantastic video Sam! 💐💐 Joan
Have you tried Misia from Chanel? It’s my most recent discovery. To me, the iris in Misia is very interesting. Not powdery but rather leaning toward floral.
Let me suggest you the real best iris fragrance ever created: Iris Malikhan by Maison Crivelli. Truly one of my top perfumes ever (and I own more than 200 full bottles)
L'Attesa was the first one that came to mind. 😄 I'll have to check out that one from Ostens though. Recently sampled Acqua di Iris from Zegna and it's a standard Prada L'homme/DH take on the note. Bit of a disappointment really. Was hoping for more spice.
Hi, if you love Iris des champs from Houbigant then you will adore Divin part from Noeme Paris. Give it a try and let me know. These 2 are my favorite out all iris fragrances. I do love Poudre de riz and Naiviris from Pierre Guillaume line.
Have you smelt the Le Cri de la Lumiere and Equistrius from Parfum d’Empire? They are not purely iris fragrances but so so beautiful. I also love l’heure bleu although it is more spicy and ambery on me.
Great video. I love prada lhomme but i dont like dior homme intense because of that cosmetic iris. Im a man and I want a buttery orris fragrance that is on the fresh soapy side but still buttery orris. What do you suggest? Thank you very much!!
@@MyWorldofFragrance I have tried Lattesa. I have a 5ml decant of it. I've only worn it once but there is some kind of nut smell in it I didn't like. Chestnut I believe. I have not tried the orris tattoo though.
Hi, Sam ! Paul from Atlanta here. I put a name to the scent of iris and decided that I love it ! Great vid. I started with Prada Infusion L'homme (almost all gone ), recently bought Givenchy Gentleman Parfum, Dior Homme Intense. Trying to rock some Prada Infusion samples ( I meant to buy Infusion D'iris Cedre !) and Chanel No. 19 Poudre ( which was sent to me by mistake !). Do you think that these two can be considered unisex ? Anyone else care to comment ?
Hi Paul! I will comment that if my body chemistry agrees with a 'homme' scent that I enjoy-- I will happily wear them. And I do find myself attracted to some 'homme' scents. Nobody is usually the wiser. I think it's all down to what agrees with your body chemistry and what YOU enjoy! There are many fresh & earthy scents that cross the boundaries. Also spicy scents. Smelling nice is never a crime anyhow-- as long as you don't overdo it, with your scent entering the room far before you do, you're good!😊
Thanks for the video Sam. Im relatively new to the Iris party 😆....and just got a perfume called Iris Malikhan by Maison Crivelli...do you know this brand and this perfume? It really stood out to me. Royal elixir by Ormonde Jayne also has a beautiful oris butter note that i love so much...
Hi is there a mens one that you would recommend that you could see having a crush in, I’m in my 40s, my personality is mysterious takes a bit to get to know me. Thanks in advance love your channel!
