Beautiful unique drum. It's amazing the difference in resonance that a solid shell can make and with such a thick steer skin for this size - sounds awesome!
Man, this is an awesome instrument all by its own self! It carries those sweet-sounding tones that are related to bata. But it also has those lower sounds of that upper scale. Great for rumba calling. I enjoyed this video and I also enjoyed how you were enjoying its sounds. You played them well. Like Federico says below me, record all you can for us before you have to send it back. A special thanks to those guys that build that drum. They are very talented! This drum is a piece of art! Rich in sound and looking amazingly good. I was making solid shell drums myself(djembes) and it's exactly as you say. It's all about the time. That waiting is worth it!! When you put skin on it finally, it dries and you hear it for the first time it literally makes you cry😂😂. Big up to Manito percs👌
I believe you said 9.25 inches was the circumference on that requinto.However, like you said it’s absolutely crazy to get that kind of body in the sound!!! A work of art

That has an excellent range in sound. The warmth of the drum is exceptional. Plus your technique brings out the sound. Nice work Eric and keep doing a great job.
Nice drum bro , very nice playing , I got an old cp 10 , lapped bus Cuban drum skinner and re worked , has an incredible sound , nothing like having a Top Tier Requinto , Keep adding it

Not bad , great rolls, i lapped a old style 9.75 cosmic LP, full oak shells , Had it lapped by a Cuban conga skinner , it’s the greatest sound ever , taking the 11 inch in to be done tomorrow.
Eric, that drum is unbelievable! Who knew a requinto could sound so good? BTW...what do you mean by a "dry" sound? And the next question...do you ever picture yourself with a set of these beauties? 😉😉 And Ryan from Manito Percussion...was that a hint from Eric to try thinner heads on it? Thanks as always, buddy!
Dry as in not so much Overtone or “Ring” as it’s so known for... basically you hit it and you get an immediate response of the sound you should expect. And hopefully in the future I would definitely want a set... they’re too beautiful not to want. Haha
By the way, I had never heard a conga drum tuned that high as an A#. I've tuned a drum to a G# the most or barely to an A the most. But A# wow, what a drum and skin, man! Amazingly strong.
The best Quinto is made by GON BOPS i have 9 3/4 the 10 3/4 the 11"and 12 3/4 and they sound Beautiful With the Rawhide skins with nice pop on the Quinto Solid mahogany with fiberglass on the out side Wine colour I Bought them in 1972 and they have a history on them
I have big hands (measured just now 9"). I feel cramped on my LP Performers. In the market for new drums. What size (brand) conga and quinto do you recommend?
