I built Sauron like that, but he kept winning with the orcs as combat because I ran enough removal/protection.

It depends exactly which cards, but you can for the most part swap out something similar. Swap out You Find the Villain's Lair and Unwind for Swan Song and Fierce Guardianship. Swap out swamps for the nonbasic black lands, and swap out Mizzix Mastery in favour of Lier. Bowmasters if you have it can probably replace some removal like Dark Withering

March from the black gate is great, but it doesn't synergize with our graveyard or spell slinger strategies at all, and more importantly, combat damage is our secondary win condition, so this card will do nothing, or be quite slow 99% of the time since we are typically hiding behind our orc army and need it as a blocker.

Would love a deck list, I'm trying to get Sauron Dark Lord as close to full control as possible with Amass as the win con, either through straight damage with some light combo.

Widespread Brutality, Immolating Gyre and Chandras Ignition all wipe the board, noting that the only time a board wipe is typically needed in this deck is when someone goes very wide. 95% of the time a 10/10 or bigger orc, and a 7/6 Sauron means people don't want to attack into you. Then as for artifact removal. That's true, but most artifacts don't hinder our strategy too much. In the case of Ensnaring Bridge, we don't need to attack, as we can easily end the game with our primary win conditions in Chandras, Gravitic Punch, or Soul's Fire.

I used to be pooperdix ( pauper decks ) but changed my channel name to pirate homebrew and gaming.

The One Ring and Omniscience are good in general, but I wouldn't say they are good with Sauron specifically. They can of course be added, but the one ring is very expensive and costs almost as much as this whole deck 😂 Omniscience is very slow, but could work well if we get it into play.

@@BasedDeckDept cool yea ill probably just throw it in because il greedy, and I impulse bought the one ring since its so cool and I think/ hope it´s going to hold its value for a along time since it´s so good. And it doesn´t rotate out of any format right ?

@@CrapsGoodxD Yeah look if you already have it, the one ring will make any deck stronger And yeah unless it gets banned, the ring is surely a good card to have.

Having played both, I think they're fairly similar, with different strengths. I think reanimation Sauron is great, and fun, noting there's almost no chance it's a $100 deck.

Yeah I did. I've played the deck a whole bunch. Too much to go into detail of different pods, at varying deck strengths, but the win rate is high, winning at least half the games I've play with it. The deck is very resilient. I've pulled out a win copying chandras ignition 4 times and using Sauron as the target.

Have fun rebuilding your Sauron deck I have a nazgul deck with Lord of the Nazgul in the command zone. I think there's a high likelihood that I'll take it apart and make it a Sauron led nazgul reanimator build which I'll make a video about.

I mean, its not factually wrong to say "Not every deck needs X staple". It depends on context. The goal of casual EDH often is not winning, but curating a flavorful deck. While my blue farm deck definitly needs dockside extortionist or cyclonic rift, my "big tiddy tribal" list ( build for an enviroment with similarly whacky themes ) has no use for anything without booba.

@@ich3730 The C in cEDH doesn't mean casual, it means competitive. Odds are if you are looking up cards on EDHREC then you're not casual enough for those who do not need to. Rhystic Study and Cyclonic rift aren't just deck staples either. They're a staple's staple, thus not included in your equations. I'm almost inclined to say you should have more cyclonic rifts in your deck than islands. I hope you understand my point of view.

Ok, hold up... "existence of gravity"?... "concept of time"... what drugs are you on, this isn't quantum physics, it's magic the gathering. A cardboard card game. And this deck my dude is a BUDGET deck, it's power lvl is low/mid for a reason. It stands to exist for situations where the play group is craving a lower power game. You are not going to play against people running cyc rifts, dockside's, rhystic studies, shock lands, pay 1 life fetch lands, because you are going to have a power lvl conversation with your play group to determine a mutual and respectable power level that is fair before you start a EDH match. Best case senario you already had this converstaion with your play group and everyone made a budget deck (ex. $50-$100) with those parameters set in place. Then you can all easily have a sideboard with some more heat (like "Key Upgrades" in this video) to cycle in if the power level wants to be pumped a little bit more.

I was using an analogy to express that what I was arguing was indisputable... Yet here you are, failing to dispute. Let me try and simplify it for you. The guy spent the first half of the video going off on why expensive GOOD cards are not needed and that EDHREC is wrong for using them in the Sauron deck. Fuck the budget, he's just outright WRONG. Every deck needs these cards because they are best in slot, they are simply (hopefully simple enough for you) simply the best cards in Magic the Gathering. Period. Done. You refuse to use them? Your deck is wrong. Just wrong. INDISPUTABLY wrong. Jeweled Lotus and Mana crypt are not insanely expensive for shits and giggles, they're expensive because almost EVERY commander deck needs them PERIOD. They're just THAT good. I'm not saying budget decks are wrong, if you can't afford the cards that's fine. But saying that using the expensive GOOD cards is wrong and then saying "here is my budget deck, it's BETTER than what EDHREC says because those GOOD cards are not necessary" is just blatantly wrong. Lastly, Rule 0 as been proven to do nothing and power level convos are a joke. Never rule 0, just lend a deck to a friend that matches your deck. If they are set on playing what they built, then they need to live with their "budget" choices.

@@Wizi3lizzmate this is a real toxic behaviour… People can have fun with 20$ decks and well built commanders. Obv staples mana rocks and counters are the best in slot, but the average mtg player doesnt play those, and when you play casual edh you just stick to that.
